Upon returning rental at Dublin airport…
1Upon returning rental at Hertz Dublin airport car return. Was told there is a SMALL SCRATCH on front lower bumper on driver's side. Told the overzealous employee that I have no idea where it came from. No sense talking to them as you will get nowhere. I took pictures before he did and nothing shows on the photo of front bumper.
The estimate of the SMALL SCRATCH is over €900+.
You have to bend down to see what he is talking about, possibly came from the NUMEROUS road works as we traveled from Dublin around coastal westbound to Belfast and back to Dublin over 14 days./

Avoid Hertz (Firefly) at all costs
Was asked to pay £1200.00 deposit or £29 plus tax (VAT basically) to avoid this payment. Having been stung by other car hire companies in the past for ‘damage’ I agreed to pay this to avoid them keeping my deposit.
I signed the contract on IPad and initials on one section which to my unknown was for the insurance at £39 plus VAT and also a tyre and windscreen protection at £20 plus VAT. Bear in mind I had only paid £60.58 for the car why would I pay £70.80 for 1 days insurance on a vehicle that cost me less to rent for the day.
Avoid Hertz or Firefly as they are known at Belfast Airport, they are complete scammers and feed you lies when collecting your car to gain extra costs for insurances.
They take a preauthorise so you have no idea how much they are charging you otherwise we would have contested the costs at the time.
Spent the little bit more and go with europacar or others avoid

The Hertz doesn't accept the insurance
We rented a car and unfortunately, while driving, the tire got damaged. This happened at 10 pm and it is currently 1:30 am. We were planning to repair it ourselves in the morning since our insurance covers tire and wheel damages, but Hertz rental car company does not accept it.

Fast response from customer services
Mistakes can happen but his one got fixed very quickly.
Returning the car to Dublin airport, I was informed that I had covered 2100 km and incurred a charge for excess mileage. This was more than double what I had actually driven.
I had no proof that the initial mileage was incorrect and realized that there was no point in taking a long discussion with the otherwise polite and friendly Hertz representative checking returns. So, I sent an email to customer services but had little hope of achieving anything.
It was a pleasant surprise to receive a prompt reply. A review of my rental had found that mileage had been incorrectly recorded and that I would receive a refund.
Note to self: take a photo of the odometer next time!

Well where do I start, avoid Hertz
Well where do I start.
Paid £1,900 for a Premium Landrover Sport, car was not there, eventually arrived with an Inch of mud and muck on the car, in the car and the windows were so dirty on the inside I could not see out them.
Went back to the customer desk to complain, the on duty sap, told me to hand back the keys and they would refund my money, obviously this left us stranded 100 miles from our destination and he cared less.
Complained to hertz, this morning they turned up with an even worse car, more dirty and it smelled beyond belief.
I guess the words Premier and gold standard Customer has a very different meaning to what we would expect.
So now you know Hertz Ireland does not give a Sod about Customers, zero Customer support and the limits of the Intellectual capacity of the Managers in Hertz Ireland can not digest they have to clean cars inside and out before handing to the Customers.
The Bad news is this is the 3rd Time they did this.
Now you know to not expect much from Hertz other then lies and a Bill.

We hired a car through Ryanair
We hired a car through Ryanair. We arrived at the desk at Cork Airport about 7.30am on 31st March, The agent asked us if we wanted insurance. I declined and told him we had allready bought insurance through Ryanair. I even showed him the email confirming the insurance. He explained that if there was an accident we would be billed and we would have to claim off our policy which we understood. Now my partner has a £100 charge on his credit card which he is being told is for the insurance we didnt take out !!!@!! My partner signed for the rental agreement but the clerk appears to have left the insurance on it on and Is saying you signed for it. I would like to add that we were given no policy documentation so how can this be justified?TOTALLY DISHONEST AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, we are taking this up with the bank and taking further advice. As advised by Hertz we did contact customer services and got no where......its with the bank now

HERTZ HURTS!
I am extremely disappointed with Hertz's car rental service. What was supposed to be a stress-free rental process turned into a nightmare due to their dishonest and unethical business practices. On a recent trip to Dublin Ireland, I had a confirmed rental price of 452.42 euros for the entire rental period, which was agreed upon and signed for during pickup. However, upon returning the car, I was shocked to see a total charge of 1329.26 euros on the receipt. This was a blatant disregard of the confirmed price and an attempt to overcharge me.
Despite my attempts to resolve the issue with three different individuals at Hertz's Dublin airport office, I was given various excuses and only after persistent questioning did they claim that I needed to use an American Express credit card to get the confirmed rate. This information was never communicated to me during the reservation process, on the phone or in the confirmation documents. It was only upon my return of the vehicle that this issue was raised, and even then, I was never informed of any specific credit card requirements.
I had not thought to bring the card they were now requesting since I didn’t use it to obtain my reservation and had no idea it was going to be needed. However, I was able to contact my son in the U.S. to get all the information off the card they wanted but they refused to accept it. I was told the actual physical card had to be presented in this day of online shopping!
Hertz refused to resolve my issue after many email and phone conversations with their customer service in the U.S. and in Ireland. Hertz did not fulfill their obligations as a car rental service provider and have left me with a huge overcharge of their confirmed rental price. Additionally, they are withholding the paperwork that would prove the charges I authorized when I picked up the car. In my opinion, this is a clear indication of their intention to deceive and mislead customers.
I cannot recommend Hertz as a car rental service provider and I advise others to be extremely cautious when dealing with them. This has been a terrible experience and I hope that Hertz takes responsibility and makes appropriate changes to its policies and procedures. It is disappointing to see such unethical behavior from a company that supposedly prides itself on customer service. Beware! HERTZ HURTS!

Just returned a Van rented for 4…
Just returned a Van i rented for 4 hours to pick up and drop off furniture. Now I done the walk around inspection and found nothing, but when I returned the van the man found something “underneath the number” which is NOT visible during a walk around inspection and then said I damaged it. Folks this seems totally unreasonable and one I’ll contest and go to small claims courts to prove my innocence.
I look forward from hearing from hertz to rectify the matter before it goes to court

If I could Give A Zero Review I Would
Hertz.ie and Thrifty.ie - same company.
The service and cars are soooooo old and dated and not up to standards of a car rental company. My car I hired smelt so bad of smoke when I picked it up from the airport, and was not cleaned at all inside or out. The gear stick had issues and very difficult to use. When I told the guy at the desk and at drop off they just shrugged and said "oh well"
and you get overcharged on absolutely everything! NEVER WILL I EVER USE Thrifty.ie or Hertz.ie AGAIN.

Hertz N. Ireland - Exclusively
I travel frequently and know well the pain and stress a car rental company can cause. I've been using Hertz exclusively in N. Ireland over the last 10 years and have never had a problem. Vaughan and the team at Hertz N.I, have been fantastic and I would not consider using another car rental company. They went above and beyond sorting out rental problems when I got covid in 2022.

Believe the negative Trustpilot rating re insurance scam
Believe the Trustpilot rating and the Google reviews re the insurance scam, we all can't be wrong, despite their responses, protestations and blaming third party insurance providers.
The facts are simple, 1) their insurance is circa 10 times that of any third party/independent insurers and 2) the fact that they require €5,000 charge on your credit card if you have 3rd party insurance, forces people into taking theirs, since very few people will have that amount on their credit card.
Their insurance is around €30 per day (Inc. VAT), so if you rent a car for two weeks, expect a charge of over €415 on your bill!
Go elsewhere, plenty of car rental places that don't fleece you.
Update: Look at all the responses for all the negative reviews, they don't address the issues, just try to blame someone else. Why is your insurance circa X 10 times that of third party vendors offering EXACTLY the same cover and secondly, why the €5k charge, which once again is multiples of that charged by other car rental companies.
Avoid!

Be very careful with the insurance
Car was really good, but be VERY VERY careful with the insurance. I called Hertz in advance to enquire whether or not I would still have to pay a 2000 euro deposit if I had a maximum insurance. They assured me that as long as I could prove I had an insurance, I would not have to pay that deposit. That was important for me, as my credit card limit is 800 euros. I booked the car on an external website and bought the supercover insurance there, however, when picking up the car Hertz suddenly did not accept that insurance because it was not directly bought through them. Had to pay a 100 euros for an EXTRA insurance otherwise I could not take the car. Very misleading and unfair as I had specifically called them about this. Contacted costumer service but as one would expect they did not apologise.

Mugged again through extra charges - Dublin Hertz.
I had a rental at Hertz through Holiday Autos. The document stated 'all fees' were included. At the desk they added €30 for going to the north saying I had to prove it. Icouldn't then but wrote subsequently with proof. They had assured me it would be refunded if I provided proof which I did. I got a short note stating I had signed the rental so accepted the extra charge. This is just theft. Avoid Hertz.

Hertz Van rental its impossible to get…
Hertz Van rental its impossible to get any reply from their customer service just prerecorded messages. Hertz took 725 out mu account and then charged the rental of 231 on top of it. The van was prei nseption report had the van as no damage recorded and when I checked there was a stratch on side door.. Hertz best avoided in my opinion..the receipt issued by hertz said total charges my account was debited by 956 euros just so much hassle this wouldn't happen when using Entertprise rental.

I would highly recommend Hertz Car Hire…
I would highly recommend Hertz Car Hire Dublin. After my son got off a long haul flight he was let down badly by another car rental that he had booked with!!! I would especially like to mention Michael (Dublin T1) and his excellent customer service and for sorting my extremely tired and emotional son after being away from home for 3 years! We will be definitely be using Hertz from now on! Thank you 😊
Do not rent from Dublin Airport
Do not rent from Dublin Airport, they will lie and tell you the insurance covers everything, with no deductable, and then you will find out it is a 2000 euro one, and be screwed.
