Absolutely awful experience with Joe at Heswall Roofing. The roof was done at the wrong angle. It leaked continuously. The job took months longer(5 months and still wasn’t water tight) than we were told it would take. We were lied to by Joe on multiple occasions. We have evidence for all of the above. Multiple times Joe said the roof was fixed and then we would have rain pouring in to our brand new extension (on to new plaster and paint.) Eventually, after around 8/9 months we told Joe to not come back and we wouldn’t be paying any more money. He then started to send threats (again I have evidence of this.) We were at a point where we couldn’t take the stress and anxiety of the situation and paid another company to fix the roof. This cost around £20,000 because the work was done completely wrong and the new company had to remove the old work and start completely from scratch.
I urge anyone reading this to avoid Joe Sells and Heswall Roofing at all costs!

Absolute gentlemen! Joe and Dylan worked tirelessly in near freezing weather to make sure we are watertight! Really decent company and price beat majority of our other quotes. Came recommended to us and we are happy to and will be recommending to friends and family.

Asked them to replace a flat roof and remove an old aerial cable. They completely removed the new aerial and cable which I have had to replace.
Despite agreeing to refund the cost, this hasn't happened 6 weeks later. All calls and messages are ignored by the business owner. I will also be reporting to trading standards.

Contacted company as I noticed a white mark on the dark wood UPVC soffits and was concerned we could have a leak. Owner, Joe, turned up with a drone, said we had a leak from the chimney which was going through to the soffits. Agreed to chimney repair and asked him to insulate the tiled roof over the study (small area). This meant removing the roof, laying insulation and retiling. Paid in full when work was done, he demanded payment in full within thirty minutes.

I mentioned that one of the soffits rattles in the wind (only one) and he then told me that half were cracked and needed replacing. I was amazed, but assumed he knew what he was talking about. He quoted for replacement of soffits and fascias. On the day, after the guys had removed all the soffits and fascias (I was quoted for replacement of them all), he turned up saying the wider strip he could only get in light brown (all were dark brown). He then said he can put one strip back up and denied telling me it was cracked. So why did he quote for new and total replacement of all soffits and fascias? I noticed nothing had been delivered and the guys confirmed they had simply reused all the old ones that were supposedly cracked.

I took photos of these when they removed them and there wasn’t a single crack anywhere. None needed replacing. There were gaps all over where they didn’t meet, CCTV wires left dangling down the side of the house. The gutter was leaking as not only was it now cracked, but it had been put back up draining in the wrong direction. I then noticed the lead flashing on the roof was two inches above the tiles, the chimney pointing was in a totally different colour with gaps all over and not even pointed, it was just splodged on. He said if I wanted the pointing to match (original is red), I should have said. There is a chunk missing out of the chimney flaunch they did. The list is endless. The guys told me there was absolutely no sign of any water having penetrated anywhere, so I don’t believe any of this work needed doing.

We have paid £5,740 but not the last £280. He has threatened us and my son in law who tried to mediate.

Bizarrely his website is full of stunning roofs he claims to have done, but reverse google search shows they are houses overseas.

Total nightmare, avoid at all costs. We still have problems and he said he can’t keep coming out to sort things.

Great company! Came out within a week of inspection and quote. Did a brilliant job and managed to resolve a problem that 2 other companies had told us we needed a full roof replacement for at a fraction of the price.
Extremely happy we were recommended to Heswall Roofing by our friend and will most definitely be recommending to others.

Great guys, had Joe and Tom come and do work on my mothers skylight casing and he ridge tiles. Did a brilliant job and were really polite and courteous to my mother whilst there.

Very professional and did an impressive job on our chimneys and ridge tiles. Have dealt with some awful companies in my time and I’m extremely happy to say this experience was a pleasure and will be using and recommending Heswall Roofing in the future!

From beginning to end, these chaps were absolutely fantastic. They replaced my roof on short notice. At the time, my elderly mother was living with me, and they even made sure that there were no hazards for her while completing the job!

I'd give them 5 stars and will definitely recommend them.

The Job that was meant to take a week
(A new roof ) took almost 6 weeks and is still not finished to a satisfactory standard. Very untidy workers. Hole in bathroom ceiling when taking tiles off roof. Sky dish bent and broken . Very unreliable . Did not fit lead flashing on lower roof until I pointed it out that it hadn’t been done . Soffits do not match and are poorly fitted . No guarantee to date . Beware . I do not recommend .

In October 2023, Joe from Heswall Roofing completed work on my roof, that he'd quoted for, which entailed removing the bottom three rows of tiles and add new baton and breathable felt, front and back, and placing the same tile back over it. Add vents to the soffits, and add four ridge ventilation tiles. At the time of completion I did question the accuracy of the job and the speed at which it was executed. Despite reassurances, in February 2024 I discovered that the job was not completed as promised; the back roof work was omitted, and standard ridge tiles were installed instead of the agreed ridge ventilation tiles. After discussions, a £900 refund was agreed upon, which was received 5 weeks later. This experience, compounded by my status as a widow with two children, has been extremely stressful. Consequently, I have reported Heswall Roofing to Wirral Trading Standards and do not recommend their services.
