It was easy to book, but I would have appreciated more information on how much the HI membership cost before it got me to the checkout page. Also, the price breakdown was a little confusing.

Good experience so far and I'm now speaking of many years !

Booked room in Philadelphia, as back-up for expected flight delay / cancellation coming in from Ireland. Unexpectedly was able to get standby withing 2 hours of arrival, called the Phila hostel (which I've stayed in prevously) to relaease the room, understand short notice cancellation: no refund, it's okay Hosteling is a good thing. Thanks for all you do!

The booking system was excellent.
I was able to make a booking, as well as include a comment, effortlessly.

Everything fine

The booking process was really clear and simple and there is a lot of information on the site. The only thing missing is pictures of the dormitories so you can get an idea of space.

This review relates to Hostel situated in Sud de France where I stayed for a total of 5 nights. However, the technical aspect of booking using the Hi search-engine was quite simple and I found the system user-friendly.

RE: Auberge de Jeunesse; SETE, Trains arrive in Sete direct from Paris. The hostel itself is located up a very steep hill just maybe 200m below the top of Mont St. Clair itself (i.e. not suitable for people with mobility issues) with stunning views over the city and the sea. I was camping here in the terraced and private garden to the rear of the characterful 19c villa, initially summer 2011 and this time, July 2019, Whilst there had been no updates or improvements to the facilities in the intervening years; everything v. basic but functioning well. The Hostel is special - apart from the beautiful setting - as the staff are particularly kind, thoughtful and very helpful in their interactions. It's also extremely good value for money for those on a modest budget and prices include breakfast... This hostel is almost secret as you would not know it is there being hidden behind walls and heavily shaded by coniferous pine trees; Sete's hidden gem!

Very easy and reasonable process to apply my demand of stay in the hostel, St.Monica for my second time. The first was in June 2000.
Also I could feel your will for supporting younger people, then recognized I could share the will.

it would be great to have one or two photos of the kind of room/dormitory we will sleep in. Or a least to know how many people will be in the same dormitory.

Unfortunately at Saturday night 6th July 2019 it was impossible to make bookings in the three hostels we selected in Iceland for next summer 2020 : Laugarvatn, Skogar and Höfn. The website did not register the type of guestroom we selected and was continuing to ask for a reconfirmation of our choice. The payment page never opened, so our booking attempts were not successful. This kind of problems occurred also several times during our website contacts in June 2019. Please repair this problem because in this way the concerned HI-Hostels risk to loose much money.

On the reservations tab, it would be desirable to separate within the current bookings those that were cancelled as they appear listed one after another. Apart from that, great job to you all!

Excellentes informations ; Réservation très facile

I am excited about coming to the Lake District, looking through your accommodation booking it was easy to see where I should go first and what was booked up when. I haven't finished, as I read to find out where I want to go next, the hostels are waiting in all their magnificent splendour. I would like to stay in a castle but that will come down the road I believe, but I don't think it will be this trip.
It is exciting to see what building are available for hostelling, though I am challenged about the buses on other reservations, I just have to plan well, and intervene with the weather, and just stick out my hand when a car goes by I guess, who knows it may be a fun ride. Cheers, Marie

WARNING !!! This place (Ustron-Jaszowiec - Wiecha outside Ustron Poland)is CLOSED but Hostels International still somehow shows 'current' daily room availabilities online, takes bookings, and even takes online credit-card DEPOSITS, and when you get here it's CLOSED!
According to the receptionist at the hotel next door, it has been closed for over a year (and it looks like it through the windows with rubbish and dust etc all over the floors).
I will be demanding the return of my deposit from HI and there shouldbe something for the inconvenience of coming all the way out here for a rip-off.
(1star-rating only because it won't do 0-star ratings.)

I found the online booking very confusing. I took several attempts to log in from the Hostelling Scotland site without being asked to pay a membership fee (I am a life member of SYHA). I booked YHA Borrowdale through HI via Hostelling Scotland to see if I can get a member's discount but it's still not clear how much I have to pay. Also on the YHA booking site, breakfast is offered saying "book ahead and avoid paying full price" but I couldn't do this. Does the YHA's "modern" booking process mean Scottish members are second class? Next time I will try and book by phone in case I get to talk to a human being who can explain what I'm entitled to.
