A terrific cardio health wearable created by an innovative Swiss company!
In the short time I have had my Hilo band I am seeing new and important patterns in my BP that I wouldn't have noticed by taking my BP even on a daily basis. I have been following Aktiia for many years and was intrigued by using a wearable to track BP throughout the day and over time. But I wasn’t sure if the technology was there for this type of blood pressure monitoring. However, when I had to stop taking one of my hypertension medications recently, my cardiologist wanted me to monitor my BP more often than I usually do (2-3/wk) and thats when I thought about purchasing the Hilo Band. I read up on the research on BP wearables and the Hilo data looked very convincing to me, so I decided to make the purchase. When I received the band it was very easy to set up and calibrate. I was pleasantly surprised that on the first use the band was in sync with my sphygmomanometer and Eko stethoscope. The app (not including the subscription) has an easy user interface, and many excellent features, the most important is the viewing of your readings over 24 hours and a week. The app also allows you to schedule three additional readings during the day. And us the phone for backup readings 3x/month. There are enough features to use the Hilo app without a subscription. But when I got a subscription, I was very happy with my decision. The yearly subscription gives you many more features and insights that are important to heart health. The most important is that you get the full history of your BP readings both within the app, and it is fully integrated with Apple Health. You also get information about your sleep, activity levels, and heart rate. If you change meds, lifestyle activities (diet, exercise, etc) the app can track the changes in BP over time, which can be very reinforcing (and relieving). The notes feature is great for insights, strategies and changes to discuss with your doctor. I also like the ability to input medications. You can also take unlimited readings with the phone which is a good back up to the watch. The full history feature (the ability to see, analyze and share readings over a longer period) is worth the price of the subscription alone. I have found that the BP readings are very accurate within +/- 1-3 mmHg based on my experience. I have compared the band readings to my manual system (the gold standard) as well the inflatable cuff that comes with the band for calibration (which is included in the price) so I feel confident that I am getting accurate readings on the band. Customer service is very important to me with any product I purchase. I was in touch with customer support team several times before the purchase and since then, and they are fantastic. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and patient. I can’t recommend the Hilo system and company enough. If you are serious about monitoring your blood pressure with a research-based wearable, this is a great system. It has helped me take charge of my heart health!

It’s an expensive item and it failed…
It’s an expensive item and it failed just after 2 years, just outside warranty. Hilo wanted £140 plus for replacement. I took good care of this item and frankly surprised it failed so soon
In terms of accuracy it under read consistently by about 5 % but I just factored that in.
I wouldn’t invest in another and would probably try a Hume band.

Hilo poor customer service and item
I purchased this item however the BP readings did not match those using the finger reading on the app or my other BP machine
I returned the item in December and was told I would be refunded I have never received the money and i am now talking to Barclaycard so they can take it up with the company. There is no phone number and you just get an automated email which does not address the problem and talks about delivery times. do not deal with this company

My life changed with Hilo Aaktiia!
The Hilo BP tracker has provided me invaluable insights into my BP profile and helped me in controlling my hypertension problem. It's accuracy of measurements is excellent among the wearable watches. Hilo was kind enough to replace my bracelet when problems arose after a few months with a new one which is now working excellently. Thank you Hilo.
A waste of money
Band stopped communicating with the app after just 3 days and now doesn't work at all! No way of contacting anyone and trying to return it as the automated system just loops back to the start screen.

Doesn't worth the money
Where should I start? Well, you don't get much for your $300. You get the right to pay the company $120 a year if you want anything beyond basic functionality. Europeans love that subscription stuff. You pay for the hardware, but oops, it doesn't work. You want to use it? That will be extra and not just one time payment.
If you are not compelled, the features that work when you turned it on will disappear over time. Just to add insult to injury.
Besides that the readings are wildly inaccurate, bluetooth connection issues. After half a year of trying to make it work I just gave up on it.

Disappointing
I have a Hilo and have been in hospital whilst still using the device. I noticed that the hospital blood pressure reading were materially different to my Hilo readings. I have tried to contact someone to discuss this but there is no after sales care and no one has been available. There is no phone number. Shame.

Hilo/Aktiia BP/HR monitor is truly amazing.
Firstly; The Hilo device is extremely comfortable to wear and is amazing at providing a reassuring constant 24/7 monitoring on my BP&HR.
It is extremely interesting monitoring my stats during rest versus activity.
All statistical results can be printed or sent via email to my Doctor if required.
Providing me with comfort to know that my stats are well within range.
Add to this a customer services that are truly amazing, by providing speedy responses and swift actions to the customers during times of need.
Personally, I am one very satisfied customer.
Really excellent and professional level…

BP, Steps and sleep
I got an email today from you stating that you now track steps and sleep. I can't seem to find it anywhere on the app. I appear to have the latest version.
A day later and it's all appeared in the app this morning you might need to be a little clearer as to when features are available.
Overall I'm pleased with the device and it seems to work well, I have an appointment with my blood pressure clinician soon and I sent him the data from the app so it'll be interesting to hear his opinion on taking blood pressure this way. I'll update as and when.
Under Pressure: When "One Size" Doesn't Fit All
Good morning.
I recently purchased a Hilo blood pressure monitoring band at a cost of £209.00. On receipt, I find the band to be far too small for my wrist. And I do not have big wrists.
I went on to your "Accessories" page and I found that a large replacement band costs “£35.98” including shipping.
Quite frankly this is a ridiculous price for such an item.
The default band that came with the item is very cheaply made with a fragile buckle. And in all honesty, if the large band is of the same quality, I find it difficult to believe how you can justify such a price.
On further investigation as to whether I can get a third party cheaper option I find this statement:
“It is generally not recommended to use a third-party replacement strap for the Hilo blood pressure monitor. Because the Hilo is a Class IIa Medical Device, the manufacturer states they cannot endorse alternative strap materials. The device relies on specific optical sensors that have been clinically validated only with the medical-grade silicone strap provided. Using a third-party band could interfere with the sensor’s contact with your skin, leading to inaccurate readings or a total failure to record data”.
So you are effectively telling me that unless I use a frankly subpar item, I may void my warranty?
I will more than happily walk into a courtroom with you and listen to you explain to a judge how a silicone strap has all of this witchcraft like technology built into it, that it would be far superior to any other 14mm band of any material.
If you are goIng to skin your customers, leave them a bit of skin so you can skin them again. Is that the company motto?
However, unless I want to void my warranty, I guess I will have to wait until I get my pension so I can afford to buy a band that fits so I will be able to use my monitor.
Thanks for that.
Ian Oulton
I think it speaks to the integrity of a company when they admit a fault and put it right with no preamble. Nice work Aktiia.
The wrist band was too small on arrival of the item but they sent me a large one without question and at no extra cost.

Ordering was easy and delivery was…
Ordering was easy and delivery was quick. Set up of the new version of the band & app took a bit longer than expected, although as a returning customer the learning curve was easier. Been using the Aktiia/Hilo since 2022 and find it very useful.
Great idea, poor support and uncomfortable design
I’ve had the band for about a year. It comes with a 2-year warranty, which is one of the reasons I felt comfortable buying it. Unfortunately it has now completely stopped working and isn’t taking any readings at all.
I raised a support ticket in January 2026 and was told to allow 48 hours for a reply. They also say they prioritise cases where the band has stopped taking readings — which is exactly what’s happened. It’s now been over two weeks and I still haven’t had any response.
There’s no customer service phone number, so I’ve got no way to follow this up other than just waiting. Two weeks is far too long to hear nothing about a blood pressure monitoring device, especially when you’ve paid for the band and you’re still paying a monthly subscription.
The band itself is also not very comfortable. I’ve found it quite unpleasant to wear for long periods, and it’s especially awkward under a shirt or long sleeves. For something you’re meant to wear regularly, that’s a big downside.
The technology might be good when it works, but customer service and basic usability are what really matter. On both of those, this has been disappointing. I won’t be continuing and will wait to see what competitors offer instead.

The only wearable that actually solves a real problem
This is one of those rare, genuinely life-changing devices that solves a real problem in a market flooded with mediocre and largely pointless wearables. Most wearables feel like solutions looking for a problem. Hilo is the opposite.
Hypertension is a silent killer. It is far more common than most people realise and it progresses quietly over months and years. Taking a single blood pressure reading once a month is meaningless. It is like looking out of the window on a cold January morning and concluding that summer will be dry and sunny.
No one has the time or patience to measure their blood pressure manually dozens of times a day, every day of the year. Hilo does exactly that. It captures thousands of data points and reveals how blood pressure is really behaving beneath the surface, including patterns that would otherwise go completely unnoticed.
In my case, it showed consistent blood pressure peaks between 2:00 and 6:00 am. That insight alone was invaluable. I was able to take a clear, data-backed report to my GP, who was so impressed that he decided to buy one himself.
If you are over 50 and care about your heart and kidneys, this device is a no-brainer. Hilo has clearly invested heavily in research and clinical validation. The science is solid, credible, and robust enough for publication in top-tier scientific journals. They have gone through every regulatory and technical process required, including FDA approval, which gives real confidence in the data.
At around £200, this is without question the best money I have ever spent on my health. The software has a few minor teething issues, but that is a trade-off I am happy with. Hilo focused on making the measurements accurate and trustworthy, not on making the data look pretty. The foundations are rock solid. The polish will come.
The band worked for 6 months then…
The band worked for 6 months then stopped sending data to the app. Customer services said it is a bug in the app and I need to wait for the app to be updated. So the hilo is redundant until the app developer fixes it. Note if you need to contact customer services each email you send takes up to 2 weeks to get a reply. In the 6 months when it did work the band sent data to the app ok. The BP measurements sent are a little lower than when using a traditional cuff.

I bought a Hilo and have been using it…
I bought a Hilo and have been using it for 2 weeks. It is not as accrurate as cuff monitoring, but comes in a few points higher rather than lower. Compared to 24 hour ambulatory monitoring my noturnal readings are +12 syst and +7 diast.
However, the total average of the band readings is always close to my daytime cuff readings.(Though 24 hour average ambulatory readings are lower).
Maybe accuracy will improve when I calibrate again.
MY OPINION IS THAT HILO are missing a trick that could make this a real game changer. It would be so easy to develop a 24 hour ambulatory function for cuff readings, which would also be better to calibrate the band (instead of the one off reading)
I gave 4 stars because this product has excellent potential, and would give 5 Stars if 24 hour ambulatory cuff monitoring was added to the app.
Great device for peace of mind
I’ve only had the sensor working for a few days and I’ve been able to see a rare high blood pressure event. Great! But there are times when there are no measurements and I’d like to trigger one with my phone. Hopefully they can add that feature
