Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 285 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the app and website to be problematic, with issues like shadowbanning and a lack of genuine profiles, making it difficult to connect with real people. Customers often reported being banned without clear reasons, even after verifying their identity, which led to frustration and a feeling of unfair treatment. The subscription model was also a point of contention, with users feeling that the platform's business model prioritizes user retention over successful relationships and that they were receiving poor value. However, some customers also noted that the app's design and profile prompts were appealing, fostering more natural conversations. A few other people also felt that they had positive experiences, with some even meeting their life partners through the platform.

One of the worst dating apps in existence

This dating app is diabolical. Please believe the reviews on here because it really is THAT horrendous. No one wants to speak on there, you hardly get any likes from anyone. Complete and utter waste of time and money. The only good things I will ever say about it is that it doesn't show you if someone has blocked you or how many people have viewed your profile. Apart from that, avoid it like the plague.

Awful app

Awful app! Most profiles are unverified and AI generated. 1 year using the app, final straw was seeing so many males in dresses when my preferences, as a straight male, is looking for a female. Hinge is woke and broke. It's setup as a money making scam, no care for it's users.

UNSAFE Service!!hey allow people that you have blocked to continuously reach out to you and tried to get money

I reported someone after I had a date as the next day he tried to get money from me via zelle. Hinge told me they took the appropriate actions. This guy had three different cell phone numbers, misrepresented how he looked, and at the time of the date I offered to pay my half. He declined the offer however the next day he tried to get money via zelle. I immediately reported this to hinge and blocked him on hinge. Again, Hinge told me they took the appropriate actions however that was back in August and he was able to reach out to me again this week even though I had blocked him. He used a different name, but the pictures were exactly the same along with what it said in his profile and..he picked up the conversation where it left off on hinge under the other name. I once again reported this to hinge and they said they took the appropriate actions. That was on tuesday, and on Thursday he reached out to me yet again! No change to the profile I reported the second time no differences. HINGE site is totally UNSAFE they do not do what they say they do and ultimately allow someone to be harassed even though they've filed a complaint. It's a scam dating site! And apparently they prefer to have scammers than people that are honestly looking for what they signed up for.

Hinge Shared My Full Legal Name in a Fraud Alert – Be Warned

It comes as no surprise to me that Hinge has a Trustpilot rating of 1.2. Their slogan is “Designed to be deleted,” and they’re absolutely right — but not for the reasons you’d expect.

I’ve used the app on and off for years without issue. Recently, I was suddenly reported and banned — before Hinge even spoke to me or investigated whether the report was truthful. I was allowed to submit an appeal, but Hinge refused to tell me why I was banned. Without knowing the allegation, I could only submit a very generic defence. Less than 24 hours later, my account was reinstated.

The damage, however, was already done. What I didn’t know was that Hinge had emailed all of my matches saying I was removed for “potentially fraudulent behaviour.” Even though they admitted they could not verify the accuracy of this claim, that message was enough to destroy trust. Matches deleted me, questioned my integrity, and one person I had dated stopped speaking to me altogether.

And it gets worse. My profile showed only my first name. Yet in these fraud alerts, Hinge disclosed my full surname to my matches — something they had never seen before. This reckless disclosure completely undermined my privacy and exposed me to being searched online, with obvious risks to my safety.

When I raised this with Hinge, their responses were dismissive. They refused to admit any wrongdoing, claimed they act “in line with their Privacy Policy” (not GDPR law), and insisted this was for “community safety.” Apparently safety matters only when someone is accused — not when your full legal name is handed out without need or consent.

My advice: be extremely cautious with what information you give this app. If you provide your surname, even in their so-called “optional” field, Hinge may share it freely if you’re ever falsely accused. Their process offers no transparency, no fairness, and no real accountability.

Hinge is “designed to be deleted,” but in my case, it’s because of their careless handling of personal data, their failure to protect user privacy, and their utter disregard for the distress caused when they get it wrong.

I’ve been using Hinge for months and…

I’ve been using Hinge for months and spent real money on Roses and paid features, only to realize my account was shadowbanned the entire time. No matches, no likes, zero visibility—yet the app happily let me keep spending with no warning and no results.

Nothing worked. Hinge support just gave copy-paste answers and never admitted there’s an issue.
Not only did I waste money, but I also wasted a ton of my valuable time. Hinge refuses to acknowledge shadowbans or offer refunds, even when their product doesn’t work as advertised. If you’re thinking about paying for features, don’t bother—there’s a good chance you’ll just be throwing your money away.

Even when i knew after that was not allow, its insane to be baned permanentely just bc of that, while that agresive huy is still there. its a sexist app you are gonna find just sexist guys there.

What a complete waste of time. Don’t download the app!

The verification process is atrocious. I have done the face verification 12 times now and it still says “Oops! Something went wrong.” So clearly this is a problem on their end. And when I start a chat and try to speak to a live agent? It won’t direct me or help at all. Don’t offer support or help when you’re not willing to do your literal job.

My experience on Hinge has been…

My experience on Hinge has been extremely negative. As a Black woman in Orlando, I encountered harassment, prejudice, and disrespect from men who only sought sex, often while hiding their true intentions and lifestyles. When I stood up for myself, reported harassment, and set clear boundaries, my account was banned without a clear explanation.

This feels like discrimination and a failure of Hinge to protect women, especially women of color, who want real connections. Instead of holding men accountable for inappropriate behavior, Hinge punished me for defending myself. There has been no respect, no support, and no transparency from the platform.

Hinge needs to do better at protecting women, addressing racism and bias on its platform, and creating a space where genuine relationships — not harassment — can exist. Until then, I cannot recommend this app.

I wouldn’t have even given hinge 1 star ⭐️,had to hit on it to continue,sep15th I subscribed for a week ,I literally didn’t talk to anyone at this point and within two days I see they closed my account saying I disobey the rules,my lord i didn’t say anything to prompt them to delete my account.i have emailed them but i guess that will be a lost cause and lost my money,it’s truly sad that a company as big as hinge to take advantage of good people just wanting to meet honest people, but I will keep trying to get a response back something has to be done about this ,not letting this one go till I get answers

Charged $99.99, banned without reason, no refund

On July 1, 2025, I paid $99.99 for a Hinge subscription. Shortly after, my account was permanently banned with no clear explanation or evidence.

I appealed several times but only received template replies saying I violated Terms of Service, without proof. Hinge/Match Group refused to refund me.

I have filed complaints with CFPB (ID: 250827-23570184), FTC, BBB, and state Attorney Generals in TX, NY, and CA, but the company ignores all of them.

Consumers deserve transparency and accountability. Instead, Match Group takes money and bans users unfairly.

What a waste of time and effort

What a waste of time and effort. 99/100 matches 100+ miles away. Had to have gone thru 300+ profiles.

Then the entries are so superficial, not worth it if you want a relationship.

Scam website

Scam website - very few matches even with subscription, interestingly especially after you try a boost, almost as if they want you to keep paying for a boost; Hinge and the other apps should be paying into the state as they are causing a singles epidemic - sue them !

Beware - Scam

I purchased Hinge X because of the way it is marketed — offering priority likes and the ability to stand out, supposedly increasing my chances of connecting with compatible matches. Unfortunately, the service did not work as advertised.

No Results: Despite using the priority likes feature on high-compatibility profiles, I received zero matches. This makes the promised advantage feel misleading.

Questionable Profiles: Many profiles seemed fake or inactive, which reduces confidence in the integrity of the platform.

Limited Matches: Within a normal distance range in Vancouver, the app quickly ran out of options. I was essentially told to use it in other locations, which defeats the purpose of paying for a local dating service.

When I requested a refund, the response was simply “This purchase is not eligible for a refund” — with no explanation or reasoning provided. There was no effort to understand why I was dissatisfied or why the service did not deliver as expected.

This is misleading to consumers. Hinge heavily markets features that don’t actually deliver value, and then refuses to provide refunds even when the product is unusable. At the very least, they should be transparent about why refund requests are denied, instead of dismissing them without explanation.

If you’re considering Hinge X, I would strongly caution you — the features sound good in theory but in practice, they don’t provide what’s promised, and you may not get your money back if you’re unhappy.
