Have used this company previously with…

Have used this company previously with no issues. This time our sat nav cut out on very regular occasions - several times on a short journey - so it was basically unuseable. Had to buy a sim plan for my phone as a substitute which was expensive. I emailed them from the states and told to send back on my return. I did this at over £10 and asked them to check the unit and get back to me. Two emails and three weeks later still no response. disgraceful customer service and I would recommend anyone to think about using them to think again. A very poor company.

Disappointed

HireGPS is over-promise and then under-deliver. They promise that customers can receive satnav 5 days before travel. However, I placed the order 3 weeks before I go. But I still don't receive it. That totally disturbs my plan. And I email them but what I get is no response. How could I say? I really really want to call names.

Just trust your mobile phone rather than this one.

Do not waste money...poor company

Chose this hire company as large adverts on site say receive GPS upto 5 days before travel.Two days before we were due to fly we still hadn’t received so I phoned company and a man just said “Errr sorry we will send out for tomorrow”.Im sure if I hadn’t had phoned we wouldn’t have received in time for our holiday.GPS system wasn’t very good for our california road trip,we resorted to using our mobile phone which was much better.I paid for the return service which is advertised on site for £9 but it is essentially a bag and an address label.When I got to the post office we had to pay another £8 for return ! The website advertising is very misleading.

Disappointed experience, not what we paid for

We hired a GPS for a recent US trip, when we arrived we found that the unit's charging cable was loose and would not stay connected. We determined that this was on the unit itself by using an alternative lead. We attempted to live with this and even used tape to attempt to hold the connector in place, and for much of the journey my wife sat with the GPS holding the connector in place, however over the duration of the holiday the problem just got worse and to the point where the connector would not connect. As a result we had to revert to both paper and google maps for the majority of our trip. I got in touch with hire gps initially who offered an apology and free return postage. I provided an update email regarding the situation and returned the unit, but have not heard anything since, I can only hope that this unit is repaired or retired so that others get what they have paid for and don't have to suffer the incredible frustration we did.

The satnav would not hold its charge…

The satnav would not hold its charge the whole time I was in the USA. So we had to pay for
Mobile data for 3 weeks which was extremely expensive. would not use their services again, did get a refund but still had to pay £9 to post the satnav back so I still lost out

This was excellent

This was excellent! We took a road trip so we used north east USA and Canada maps with no problems. My advice is order earlier than you need it to reduce stress levels about it arriving in time and make sure you know what county you are in when visiting Canada.

Let down

Booked a gps over a month ago. Received a phone call four days before we fly out saying none are available. We were supposed to receive the device five days before we flew out so the company must have known they couldn't deliver. They said we could buy a sat nav out there and upon our return send it to them and they would refund minus the hire charge. So, we buy you a device, taking time and money out, trustingwe can locate a store as we don't have a gps when we pick the car up, then we send it to you and you charge us for hire with no deduction for letting us down, our valuable holiday time etc...

Shocking - don't go with this company.

Unbelievable unreliable, awful communication

I hired a GPS unit 3 weeks prior to my holiday, was told I will receive 5 days before I fly. 5 days before I will fly I don't receive the GPS. I email to find out when I will receive, hey told me it'll will come 2 days before I come, they then emailed me and left a message in my phone on the day the GOS was meant to arrive saying they don't have one and have me a full refund. Leaving me with no time to sort anything. Don't bother using them. Completely useless. Try somewhere else.

Sat nav we received would not allow us …

Sat nav we received would not allow us to programme, no instructions or manual received so we could not use it. Emailed the company on our return to advise them , no reply. Emailed them again and awaiting a reply re what they are going to do. I would not recommend using this but company

Avoid - appalling service

Avoid. Appalling customer service, lack of support and sense that no one within the business cares about their customers. Satnav broke down almost as soon as we arrived in USA, which made getting around places like San Francisco trying, to say the least. Sent three emails to report and ask for advice to resolve but no response – despite their claim when I called on return to the UK that they reply to all emails! When I finally got to speak to someone, they did agree to refund but no compensation, despite the whole point of hiring a satnav from them being to have the convenience - which we never had - of a guide to our destinations while on a tour covering more than 2,500 miles. They also agreed to refund return postage but that took a further two unanswered emails and several phone calls to get as all choices on IVR went unanswered on several occasions.
To cap it all, I later received a standard email telling me the satnav I’d returned had been ‘checked back’ into their warehouse. So beware – if you hire a satnav from this company, you could end up with the same broken machine and suffer the same inconvenience and difficulties that we did!

Perfect

Hired a sat nav for a trip to San Francisco. It arrived a few days before I left which gave me time to find out how to use it (as I haven't used one before). The sat nav got me to everywhere I wanted to go. I will definitely use this company again on my next trip.

Absolute rubbish from start to finish - don't use them!

The sat didn't arrive on the correct day & I then had to chase them to send it to me.

When got to Florida the sat nav didn't work at all because they hadn't loaded the US maps. We nearly had an accident trying to get it to work whilst trying to get from the airport to the hotel in the dark. I then had to go back to the airport & hire one from Aloma at twice the price.

When back in the UK took the package to the post office & was told it hadn't been prepaid & that it would cost me £8 to send back after having been told by HireGPS that postage had been prepaid.

I am now suing the company.

Terrible Customer Service

When the sales person called back and took the details he didn't ask where I would like the sat nav delivered and when I asked for a different delivery address to my home address as there would be no one there to take delivery he said they would take it to the post office and couldn't I just collect it from there!! I insisted on having it delivered to my work address but unbelievably it still went to my home address, when I rang to enquire why it hadn't been delivered I was then told it had gone to my home address and it was Royal Mail's fault. HOW STUPID OF ROYAL MAIL TO DELIVER TO THE ADDRESS ON THE PACKAGE. The guy in customer services was both unhelpful and condescending and when I asked for my money back I was told I would have to wait until Royal Mail returned the parcel to them so I now have to either find the time to go to the collecting office to collect the parcel or pay for a second satnav and hope I finally get my money back. Would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone.

Very Happy!

I have used this company twice now to rent a GPS for America as the car hire companies charge a silly amount for the convenience. Both times now the sat navs have turned up nice and early and have worked perfectly. Having the traffic camera warning and speed limits was also very useful. So much easier than having to haggle with the rental companies. Would rent again in the future.

Terrrible !!

I phoned to check if they could do next day delivery and they insisted it would be with us by 3 PM as advertised on the website, but it didn't arrive. My card was charged but no GPS arrived and we now leave for our trip tomorrow so we will not be able to use it. No answer on phone and left Very disappointed.

Terrible!

I filled in the form on the website to enquire about hiring sat nav for Cyprus (as it's hard to find one for there!)... I got a call back from a polite staff member and they asked me where I was travelling to and when. They quoted me a great price for the service and I paid over the phone, I asked if there would be email confirmation at all, and I was put on hold for a moment, and then the staff member came back to me and told me no there won't be.

The satnav arrived the Friday before we flew out on the Monday for our holiday, I opened it up to see that it was a US/Europe one, I had a look around on the satnav itself and couldn't find Cyprus maps. I rang the company and spoke to someone who just said 'No, none of our sat navs have Cyrus maps I'm afraid'. Obviously I was annoyed at this point, and said 'Well on the original form I filled out on your website I put that I am travelling to Cyprus and also I re-confirmed this on a phonecall I had with another staff member'. I received no apology at all, and was told to just send it back to them, and I would be reimbursed for postage costs and the hire when they received it back.

It cost £8.50 to send back and to this day I have not received reimbursement for the postage back. In fact it took almost a month and another phonecall to get the cost of hire back to me. I rang up after returning from my holiday to find the money still hadn't been repaid, and when I spoke to yet another staff member they had 'no record' of it, and asked me for my order number which will have been sent in the confirmation email. What a shambles. I never had one single 'sorry to inconvenience you' or anything even along those lines.

Terrible customer service.

SIMPLE, EASY AND CHEAP

This was just about the easiest thing I had to organise for my recent trip to LA. All maps pre loaded. Fully charged Sat Nav. USB connectors. Perfect. This saved me around $100 on what the car hire company planned to charge me!

Fantastic service with no problem Sat Nav!!

We hired a Sat Nav for our trip to the USA, however I had left this quite late. The company got my order to me the next day - at no extra charge! The use of the sat nav was brilliant!! We would highly recommend and use again for future use!! Thank you!

Excellent Service

Phoned to book a SatNav on a Thursday afternoon and received the device mid morning the next day for trip to Florida. Excellent service and equpiment supplied did exactly as it said on 'the tin'. Will definitely be using this Company again.
