Spring is here so time to get my Royal Enfield out.
Oh dear!! Click clicking sound and nothing else happens!
The batteries dead! Sunday evening now and I ordered a direct (gel) battery replacement. The battery arrived safely by tracked delivery Wednesday afternoon.
Just fitted the battery this afternoon, an easy direct fit and I'm back on the road ready for summer.

I have used Hitchcock's several times over the years and each time I have had good service. This time I ordered a low value small part. Post and packing was very reasonable and it arrived the next day

Across one year, I have been ordering a few bits and bobs for my RE Classic 500, and always had good experiences. First with he oil change kit, then with new footrests.
The page on the website where there is the part book and you can see the exploded view and click on the specific component you need is amazing and has saved me a couple of times.
Dispatch and delivery times are also impressive, I usually get my orders in one or two days.

I ordered a part for my RE350 Classic yesterday afternoon. Soon after I received a message to say my bike part had been picked packaged and ready to send. This morning the new bike part was delivered by Royal Mail.

Didn’t expect the new part to be delivered this quickly! The part was really well packaged and pristine when I opened the parcel.

Bought a FuelX for my KTM 390 and it arrived incredibly fast. They helped me choose the right version, and the Lite has transformed my bike. I also ordered a DNA filter and side stand eliminator both arrived the next day. Great advice, quick processing, and excellent service. Highly recommend.

I found the panniers I wanted for my Super Meteor at Hitchcock motor cycles. It was very easy to order and I was sure to have the correct frames because they were referenced. They arrived in France within the week, superbly packaged, no risk of damage. All parts present and once the fitting instructions were downloaded it took less then two hours to fit them. Very solid, but light, good quality panniers. I’m very happy with them and the very professional service. I would not hesitate to use Hitchcock again, except for the import tax since Brexit making it more expensive to buy from the UK, service & quality are worth paying for…..

A little bit of hassle to "join" online.
Once done everything was super easy, order was processed and despatched very quickly.
Happy with the quality of parts for my Scram 411. Prices are a little high, but more confidence, than ordering direct from India.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience with Hitchcock.
I paid £37.50 for 3 oil filter kits for my Royal Enfield Classic 350.
Shipping cost to Italy is £40.51 for an almost weightless packet (exactly 150gr.).
They probably forgot to declare the actual value of the goods, because I had to pay €39.51 (ca. £35) for VAT and import duties.
Final cost £113.00.
Never again!

I was contacted by Hitchcock's Motorcycles about my negative review and I replied as follow:

Hello Allan,

thank you for your message.
I try to avoid as much as I can to write negative reviews, but in this case I had to express my disappointment hoping that it could be useful for changing something in your efficient but expensive service.
Let’s start with shipping options:

1) Regular £13.71
You do not suggest choosing this option so we can’t consider it.

2) Parcel Force Int £31.70
Delivery up to 20 working days from shipping date: this means one month from UK to Europe. Would you choose this (expensive) option?

3) 4) DHL
Very minimal difference, £39.93 vs £40.51, for a decent (very expensive) service.
Which one would you choose?

Considering this, I think that actually shipping options are very limited.
I use to buy from various seller in UK, but shipment is never so expensive, and even admitting DHL is a very good courier, I am sure there might be more options at a better price.
In my case, shipment for a packet that weighs 150gr is much more expensive than the goods I ordered.

Regarding Vat and custom duties, I took some information from DHL Italy and they gave me this explanation:

1) no taxes or import duties are requested for items with a value inferior to €150,00.

2) Our Vat (IVA in Italy) is 22% on the items price, and it is applied both on goods value and shipment.
In my case I had to pay Vat on £37.50+£40.51, for a total amount of £78.01, €90,00 ca.
So I had to pay €19,80 (Vat) on €90,00 plus €19,79 for DHL administrative costs, as they call it.

To summarise, DHL cost is £57.51 (£40.51+£17.00), or €66,30.

Sorry for this long reply, but I think that, considering what I tried to explain from a customer point of view, maybe you could consider a different shipment policy for European clients.

I hope this message can be useful, and I’ll be happy tu buy again from you and to change my review if you’ll consider my suggestions in the future.

As always an excellent experience. Ordered a couple of bits, engine bars and screen for my classic 350.Long engine bolt supplied with the engine bars had a duff thread, but after emailing with Will, he got a replacement bolt sent straight out to me. Used many times in the past and always a reliable service.

I've been using Hitchcocks since buying a new Interceptor 3 years ago. The range of Enfield parts is outstanding. My orders are always efficiently processed and I usually receive the order next day. The online parts books are a god send.

Very helpful and efficient service. Parts delivered quickly and my online enquiry was was dealt with well.

Purchased royal enfield 500 bullet rebuilt with new parts from Hitchcock's the exhaust pipe box weld failed the bike has only done 300 miles they are not interested
