I had a query re the final bill before I switched to a new supplier. Rachael resolved it quickly and smoothly, and was good to deal with. Thanks!
After switching to a cheaper fixed rate with another supplier, I left my direct debit with Home Energy open as advised. There was a£4 debit balance which I expected to be collected at the next Direct debit collection nearly a month later. Instead they took a complete payment of over £200. One month after this, still no sign of a refund so I contacted Home Energy through WebChat only to have the strangest experience. Seems their customer service can't decide if refunds are paid the next day, in 3 to 5 working days or at all? Very poor Customer Service experience so I rang them (they do not have a complaints number.) Miraculously after much menu pressing I reached the 'other' customer service selection and lo and behold that person instantly changed into a Customer Complaints advisor!! That was lucky wasn't it? A very half-hearted apology and a "we will look into it" was all I received - possibly one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in a very long time. I will not be using Home Energy again.

Home Energy are a breath of fresh air! Switched to Home Energy from Octopus (Who are an absolute nightmare when things go wrong, and they go wrong often!) The customer service phone number was answered in 2 rings by someone in the UK who actually understood everything I said first time, the switch completed in 7 days, emails were clear and easy to understand and the app was a breeze to set up. Prices for me are around £112 per year cheaper than Octopus's cheapest tariff. Octopus have went down the toilet, their customer service is offshored to South Africa and the staff attitudes are appalling. Octopus had a final sting in their tail which Home Energy were able to help me with and sort out, Octopus had no idea what was going on and hung up on me after misinforming me multiple times. Adios Octopus and Hello Home Energy!
My query was resolved in minutes. Customer service is spot on
Home Energy is a participating energy supplier in the government's Warm Home Discount Scheme but its staff are woefully ignorant of the process of registering their customers with it.
I transferred my energy supply to Home Energy on 31 July 2026 from another energy supplier that was also a participating member of the WHDS and who paid me the rebate to my account in Winter 2025/26. As 23 August 2026 is the scheme's date for registering a customer and under the scheme rules it is the supplier's job to match their customers with the WFDS database that holds the addresses names and DOBs of recipients of qualifying benefits.
To be on the safe side I emailed Home Energy as follows:
'Would you please confirm that I am registered with you for the WARM HOME DISCOUNT for this coming winter. My qualifying benefit is ......'. I was registered with ... before the transfer to you.
Their answer was that this which is complete fiction and not how the scheme ha ever worked:
"You will need to sign up for the warm home discount via the government website, once completed and if eligible they will send a letter to you which you will need to provide to us."
Two people I spoke to on the phone at Home Energy just repeated it almost like robots. They also said a 'superior' they spoke to repeated the same fiction
Despite guiding them to the government's website they seemed uninterested.
I regret transferring to them and will make a decision very soon on leaving

good pricing and always easy to deal with through the chat. online portal could be a be more useful though
I decided to change from Octopus to Home Energy as their quote was cheaper. I received my welcome pack 4th August which agreed with the quote. The changeover occured 10th August. I checked the tariff and it is now more expensive. How are you supposed to choose a supplier if the price can change between agreeing the contract and starting the service.
UPDATE: After contacting Home Energy they agreed that the tariff should be the same as the quote and welcome pack and the rate has been corrected.
Changing to any new supplied it is probably a good idea to check the tariff, this is very easy using the Smartmeter display.

No issues while using them as a supplier, competitive and helpful, customer service very good when moving to a new supplier and assisting with credit refund. Great.
Dont recommend this company at all. Staff ignore your requests, they dont communicate and ignore emails, they threaten law suits and bully you until you are silenced. They want to force a control unit in your property so they can monitor your usage. And if you dont comply they bully you until you do. Think twice before you want that in your life.

Increased the tariff before the contract even began! What happened to giving the customer reasonable notice?
Update - at no point prior to the start of the contract was I notified of an increase in prices despite what they said.

The two lads came on time and got on with the job had it done in no time I would definitely recommend the two lads who came today and put a damp course and a extractor fan in the bathroom, Ben and his friend did a great job and cleaned up after that had finished and explained everything before they left
At the end of June, I switched to a different supplier and I am owed the remaining credit on my account. However, they deducted additional payments in July. I contacted them via email, and they responded that they would need the readings from my new supplier and would refund my money.
Yet, another month later, in August, they deducted more funds.
Currently, they owe me £276.71.
I plan to send a letter to the Ombudsman and Trading Standards shortly.
