Bizarre and hostile owner

The stay was fine initially, but the experience quickly devolved into one of the most bizarre, hostile, and unprofessional hospitality encounters I have ever had.

Upon check-in, we were explicitly told by the staff that the items in the minibar were complimentary. Naturally, we used it. However, we were later slapped with charges for everything we consumed. When I called to address what I assumed was a simple administrative error, the staff resorted to outright gaslighting. I was repeatedly told that what both my partner and I clearly heard with our own ears was "not true."

I suppose squeezing an extra $40 out of us was worth more to them than retaining a repeat customer, or having me recommend this hotel to the broader outdoor travel community heading to Corsica.
But the absolute worst part came after I voiced my frustration.

Rather than handling the feedback like a professional business, the owner escalated the situation to an alarming and completely unhinged degree. Because I was upset and vocal about my experience, the owner directly threatened me with legal action and insanely claimed they would "prevent me from leaving the country."

Do not stay here. No hotel is worth dealing with deceptive billing practices, zero accountability, and a hostile owner who literally threatens to trap guests in the country over a minibar dispute. There are plenty of incredible places to stay in Calvi—save your money and your peace of mind, and book somewhere else.
