Disappointing Experience with HS Legal Solicitors
Instructing HS Legal Solicitors was, unfortunately, a poor decision during the sale of my property.

I used an online conveyancing comparison website — conveyancingindex — and HS Legal was one of the firms included in the quotes provided. I went with them based on the Trustpilot reviews and it was a big mistake.

While the solicitor from HS Legal Solicitors ultimately completed the work, I would not choose this firm again for several reasons:
1. Although I was assigned a dedicated case handler, this proved to be ineffective as they appeared to have little involvement in the process.
2. It was difficult to contact the firm by phone and not once did I speak with the solicitor. They will not even give you a call if there’s some urgency. In case of any urgent matter, please forget any help over the phone and putting your mind to ease.
3. I often wondered if my emails were being properly read, as I had to address the buyer’s solicitor’s queries multiple times myself. The firm lacked proactivity throughout the process.
4. Responses to my queries sent in the morning would often arrive around 4:30–5:00 p.m., leaving no opportunity to reply before their office closed.
5. The solicitor forgot to include the agreed White goods amount and had to be reminded to add it.
6. An incorrect service charge figure was initially included under apportionment, which we had to identify and have it corrected ourselves.
7. When the 90% was paid, the solicitor seemed unaware that they were responsible for obtaining the remaining 10% from the estate agent and instead advised us to contact the estate agent for the remaining amount.
8. There was also a delay in receiving this amount due to lack of ownership from the firm.
9. The final invoice differed from the original quote provided by Conveyancing Index, with no prior notice or explanation for the change but after an email it was amended.
10. I am surprised that conveyancingindex and other online conveyancing comparison website are using this company to provide a quote.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. You’d expect a solicitor to be proactive, responsive, and to act in your best interests — unfortunately, HS Legal Solicitors did not meet those expectations.

HS - Legal did my conveyancing matter for both of my sales and purchases. They did excellent job by completing my case successfully with great care. Unfortunately, I had very difficult buyer who dragged things on, luckily thanks to HS Legal all went well in the end. The communications were on time, keeping everyone informed at all times and they also were very knowledgeable and professional. I also appreciate they did everything to keep the costs down for me, which is huge bonus.

From the very beginning until the end all the experience was really good.
Jawad was professional, efficient and replied to the queries very quickly.
Also pricewise, their services cost less than half than some other companies. But the service didn't feel cheap. It was very professional. You can follow up on the case progress in Hoowla, which was very handy.

Instructing HS Legal Solicitors was the worst decision I made during the sale of my property.

I understand that using a solicitor outside my area would rely on digital communication, and I was quite comfortable with this. But the online system (app) didn’t work from the start, and the alternatives (email and telephone) weren’t much better.

• After a while, I stopped receiving acknowledgements for any documentation/information that I had sent through, despite asking for it.
• Most of the queries I had were not addressed. I was bombarded with generic, automated responses which did not resolve the issues I was raising.
• I was assigned a dedicated case handler but never got to speak to him. Instead, all correspondence was signed by his ‘team’ – see above.
• It was difficult to contact the firm by phone: if I was lucky enough to get through, calls were often not returned, and on one occasion, when I said that I would wait to talk to a member of the team, I was cut off.
• I was advised that they would complete and check forms, but I got the impression that they were simply bouncing any/all information between me and the buyers’ solicitor. They certainly weren’t checking it; otherwise, I wouldn’t have had to respond to some of the buyer’s solicitors' queries several times over.
• The day for the exchange of contracts was delayed because HS Legal wanted to use digital signatures while the buyer’s solicitor insisted on ‘wet’ signatures (hard copies). I would have thought this would have been discussed and settled between the firms before the completion date. It was left to me to race around obtaining additional ‘wet’ signatures and spending a small fortune on overnight postage to expedite the process.
• I am still waiting for confirmation from HS Legal that the funds were released and on the way to my account.
• It took four emails to obtain an accurate completion statement from the team.
• After five or six emails, I have given up asking for the link to Trustpilot, which HS Legal says they have sent me.

All in all, it has been a disappointing, frustrating experience which I wouldn’t wish on anybody.

This company gave me a completely trouble free conveyancing service in selling my house. Everything element was dealt with swiftly and correctly. All of it with online communications too. Thoroughly recommend.

Do not use HS Legal, I am a first time buyer and i have had the worst experience, they haven't told me what to expect and guide through this process.

The customer service skills and communication skills are horrendous and when you do get information its contradicting.

The case has been delayed multiple times which could have been avoided with better communication.

Complete and utterly disagree with HS Legals reply, can prove multiple times there lack of communication.
