Very poor bank experience, they are not user friendly and have old school payments that take more than 24 hours. I had left my 15yrs banking with Commonwealth but due to their experience had to return... See more

A decent bank that I've been doing business with for a few years. It's especially good for overseas banking, and foreign exchange. While their rates for home loans and other saver rates are oka... See more
Literally the worst bank operating in Australia. Browser portal is busted to hell, mobile app regularly bugs out and becomes unusable. These mf’s really need to get their stuff together fr.
Tried to make a B-payment. What a ridiculously complicated process of going between mobile phone app and computer with codes and passwords...... Was unable to make payment and luckily was able to tra... See more
HSBC Safeguard - totally useless
HSBC safeguard flagged some of my overseas transactions as suspicious (while I was using their own travel card!). They asked me to prove my identity and explain these apparently "suspicious transactions". They honestly could not have made the process of doing so any harder than it was, as a result I've transferred out all the money I had in my HSBC travel account to another banking institution and will never be using them again for banking services. Incredibly disappointed
Risky to do business with HSBC
Risky to do business with HSBC
A criminal has user HSBC account to scam us recently. HSBC provides no support and no effort to stop the transaction and recover the fund after we have reported the fraud 3 minutes after it happened. This bank done nothing to prevent criminals from using their systems nor take any action to prevent fraud.
Do not open accounts or have dealings with HSBC Australia
Do not open accounts with HSBC Australia - there is no accountability, no customer support via its dreadful offshore email/ call centres, and they have no ability to transfer money with clarity. I transferred 20,000 euros, paying HSBC's high transfer fees, to my bank account in a bank in Hong Kong. A week later the money hasn't arrived. I'm assuming they've lost my $20,000 euros because I can't get anyone to account for where it is. Dreadful and dangerous circumstances for this awful bank full of lying call centre staff. The worst lie is that told me that there were cash services - there aren't. Neither will you get any answers or anything sent they promised. Neither do you get any response from paper forms you send them. Your money is trapped or lost.
Further to this I received an email that HSBC offers only further fees and no accountability. The useless email centre says they can offer a payment retrieval request with a further fee of AUD 25.00 with possible other bank fees, that the
process takes 21 days and not guaranteed successful. Why would I lose $20,000 euros, my original transfer fees, and now a retrieval fee with no likelihood of success.
I'm reporting them through ASIC and their Australian Financial Complaints Authority. See Reporting Misconduct to ASIC : Disputes with Financial Firms.

AND just so HSBC Australia is extra unaccountable and completely non-transparent, their email system does not allow you to keep copies of the emails you send them. There is no "sent emails" channel. Your messages just disappear. So you need to make a copy of everything you send to them. Likewise, there is no recording of the information you give their call centre staff on a database under your name/account so there is no correlation or follow up possible of your case at all. No one knows anything and noone helps unless they charge you more fees again with no outcomes.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. They don't follow up on things
I have been waiting 25 days for a wire transfer was issued tracking number . HSBC is a fraud avoid at all costs
i wanted to tell my story, i am an Australian business that was expecting a wire transfer to setup a business in Serbia . $20000 euros. It has now been nearly a month since the money was sent and have still not received. My business partner sent me a wire tracking that is totally useless. I actually thought about opening an account with them but they are just a fraud organisation and would never recommend an account with this bank
Customer service is very bad
Customer service is very bad. I got a letter from HSBC advising me to renew my fixed-term home loan. I have rung them three times in ten days and sent an online request, only to be put on hold for an hour each time with no response or call back!
Likely worst AUS banking service
I struggled with international transfer thru HSBC browser page since their website claimed the recipient's bank SWIFT is invalid. Their anemic staff claimed I should call the overseas bank to clear the matter. Fortunately I repeated the attempt thru HSBC Android app and made it without issues. It took me 3 hours to realize web banking page has serious bugs which nobody addresses. Their staff asked me if I have products with them (loans) to improve my rating. Since I didn't, they "couldn't help me". I sent an email with a complaint but never got any reply. Lousy service I've never experienced before to such an extent. Their chatbot is programmed to get rid of the customers instead of helping them. The only reason I keep the account is the multi currency option for overseas business but since Westpac offers the same it might be time for me to say good bye.
DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH HSBC…
DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH HSBC AUSTRALIA. A really stupid digital system that doesn't work. The Secure Device is the worst log on system. If you don't get one, you can't do any of your banking. Stupid call centre where the staff don't speak standard English and you waste hours trying to connect. The staff are completely unaccountable and don't do what you ask them. Ask them to send a Secure Device to you in one country and they will send to another, or not send it at all. Your money is stuck. They have the lowest and worst savings, exchange and term deposit interest rates. Find another bank with foreign currency accounts, not this useless bunch
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. I have been trying to get a bank statement for over nine days and have had no success. I called multiple times, and they requested the wrong statement and blamed the flawed system they have. Also, they've changed the monthly statement every six months without my authorisation. I also mentioned that the statement was for an important thing, and this delay affected a personal application - they escalated to a manager who never contacted me. Worst bank ever.
Called HSBC to reschedule an appointment and was put on hold for 140 minutes
I called 1300 308 008 (the only number I can find) to reschedule an appointment and was told to hold while they contact the branch. I was pu1t on hold for 140 minutes and I finally gave up and call again. I was in the queue waiting to speak with one of the busy consultants for another five minutes and decided I had enough.
UNPROFESSIONAL SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE
I honestly don't know where to begin, it's just one bad experience after another with this bank. I get a different story from every person I speak to, and all I get mostly is "no, we can't/won't do that" (even though a colleague has completed the exact same transaction for me previously) ... I wait in a branch for an hour to deposit AUD$5,000 cash whilst other customers come in after me and get served straight away, then in another branch a customer comes in after me to deposit cash and gets to skip the queue ahead of me???!!! Now I am overseas (I notified multiple staff members by phone, email and in person of this, I even sent a copy of my passport) and my accounts are being restricted!!!! I literally can't pay for anything!!!! I could go on all day about the endless pain, frustration and inconvenience this bank has caused me and continues to do.... It is easily the most unprofessional, poorly managed bank I have ever dealt with. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Management Actually Listen and did what was needed - Thank You
Had an issue with some business at this Branch - 333 George Street, Sydney. Had to speak to Premier Manager Ashley Lee - he intervened and ensured the transaction was addressed in a timely manner. Great to be able to speak to management and ensure quick and seamless process. Thank You for listening.
This is the most stressful refinancing…
This is the most stressful refinancing I have ever experienced.
- The Relationship Manager did not check thoroughly my application. Due to this after 16 Business days of processing time, the Credit Team found a mistake on my application (the relationship manager did not attach some required documents needed). with this, my application went back to the end of the queue.Another 16 days to wait.
- After that another 16 days, the Credit Team found another mistake in my application, so another 16 days to wait...Very Incompetent people! Non-sense procedure of going back to the end of the queue once they found mistake.
- Avoid this bank if you do not want to lose your sanity, believe me!
I regret using HSBC AU
I regret using HSBC. Although the in-branch personnel have always been helpful, HSBC STILL do not support PayID. Therefore, transferring even $50 can take as long as 8 hours to be processed. Ridiculous in this modern age.
Bullying Liars!
I opened an "interest free credit card" with these bullies on 02/02/2017. I made the first payment on time and yet there were unsubstantiated charges on the next statement. This literally continued for the next 3 years. The item I purchased "interest free" was paid off more than 18 months ago and they have continued to levy fees and charges. Despite an ongoing review of the matter, they have lodged a number of late payment records on this account and singlehandedly destroyed my credit rating. I operate a number of other utilities and cards and all a near perfect. DO NOT GO NEAR these people as they will damage your ability to do business and not give a damn.
Great experience with home loan…
Great experience with home loan processing and following up throughout the process during and after purchase. Relationship managers are quite responsive and helpful with good knowledge of products. Above all rates are great and much better than big 4 banks in Australia.
