Unprofessional communication

Unprofessional communication, misleading reassurance, and lack of transparency

My experience with IDA Recruitment was extremely disappointing and stressful.

I was placed in a temporary position, and before accepting it I made clear that I was not comfortable leaving a permanent position I had been in for over a year unless there was genuine longer-term potential. I was reassured by Gosia at IDA Recruitment that the role was expected to become permanent after 6–8 weeks. Based on this reassurance, I accepted the position.

My position was then ended suddenly and without warning, which completely blindsided me and those around me. While I understood that the contract allowed for my position to be terminated, what followed was far more concerning.

I was given vague and inconsistent reasons verbally, none of which had ever been raised with me during my time at the company. Despite repeatedly requesting clarification in writing, I was never provided with a clear explanation. Communication throughout the process was poor, and I felt dismissed and spoken to disrespectfully during a phone call. When I asked for communication to continue by email for clarity, my messages were delayed or ignored.

This experience caused significant stress and disruption, particularly given that I had left a stable, permanent role based on assurances given to me. As a candidate, I felt unsupported and undervalued at a time when clear communication and professionalism were essential.

I would strongly advise anyone considering working with this agency to proceed with caution and to ensure all assurances are clearly documented in writing.

Unprofessional and Dishonest

Horrible experience. The Lawyer that was handling my case was upset with me because I did not agree with the terms of my settlement and argued that I had supposedly, at an earlier point agreed, which was not true. The other lawyer talked to me in an appropriate tone and seemingly got payed for providing me with a long talk on the Danish Occupational Health Handling in terms of Work accidents. In the End they wanted to charge me an inappropriately high membership fee, so I said goodbye. It was my experience that they don`t have the right people with the right mind in place and that the lawyers seemed to be carrying more about the big corporation`s interest than the IDA Member. No surprise, my lawyer was also working for a big law firm that specializes in defending employers.

My advice: Invest some money in a good lawyer instead.

Depends what you are after

I have been a member of IDA for some years, they have a lot of interesting activities and funds, so if you join in you get your money's worth. The career counselling services are good and helped me immensely. However, I found their legal advice during a redundancy weak and patchy, it seemed they were overloaded, and I missed out in the end. So, if that's what you're after I would suggest saving your cash for a dedicated employment lawyer. Also with the fee collection, watch their emails if they ask for status, as if you don't respond it defaults to the full fee and they insist on payment, no excuses. Lastly, I am a strong supporter of union membership, but IDA seems to me to be a bit 'fat', and luscious breakfasts and lunches at free events seem excessive to me.
