I'm leaving!!

Been with these guys for years. Always believed the philosophy about putting the customer first.
Massive price hikes this year, not once, but twice!! Suddenly it's become all about their bottom line and profits.
They sucked us in...and are now spitting us out.
Well...I'm leaving....like the thousands of others.
In a terrible year for people's jobs and small businesses....so Igloo go and smash us where it hurts.
It's a corrupt world when it comes to energy.
And these guys have just joined the ranks.

Hi Nick,

We have been, and always will be focused on giving our customer the best possible deal.

The industry has seen the wholesale price of energy sore over the last 18 months, with prices up over 600% since April last year. This has forced most supplier to increase their prices. The main difference here at Igloo, is we have a track record of passing on savings, when the markets go down.

I'm sorry to hear that a loyal customer, like yourself, is choosing to leave us. If there's anything our team can help with in the future, please let us know.

Many thanks

massive price hike again…

I have been with this company for 3 months from 15th June. I have had two massive increases , 12 % in July and now 15 % in Oct. Therefore 25 % in just over three months.
I appreciate that the cost of energy has gone up, but it is unsustainable to have constant increases. I have done a comparison and igloo are cheaper by 25 per year. wow !!
bitterly disappointed as thought had found a company that would be lower. Now just like all the rest, reel them in and then hit them hard . just sums up everything that is wrong with modern life

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your review and for taking the time to leave your feedback. We appreciate this.

I am very sorry for the frustration caused here. I appreciate there is never a good time for the prices to change.

We offer one simple, variable energy tariff, our Pioneer Tariff, which allows us to focus on giving every one of our customers the best deal possible. The nature of a variable tariff means we are able to be more flexible than most other suppliers. When wholesale prices have dropped, we’ve been in a position to pass this saving on to our customers, however this can go the other way occasionally.

If you decide you would prefer to switch providers following this, you can do so before the 29th of October and we will honour the old prices until the switch is completed. I hope this helps.

Thank you again for leaving your review and for your feedback, and if you have any further concerns, please contact us at team@igloo.energy or on 0333 405 5555.

Have a great day, and stay safe,

Many thanks,

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your feedback, and for taking the time to leave us a review.

I'm very sorry to hear that your recent price change announcement has lead to you to choose to switch to another supplier, we're very sad to see you go, and we hope that you might consider Igloo again in the future.

Since the beginning of this year the wholesale cost of gas has increased by 180% and with the UK’s reliance on gas fired power stations to generate electricity, this has resulted in a 265% increase in wholesale electricity prices. We try to keep our prices in line with the wholesale market, so if these figures drop in future, our prices could decrease along with them.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, we greatly value any feedback that our customers might have for us.

Best wishes,

Just joined. Big price rise straightaway. So will be leaving as soon as I can.
If your their customer you should just leave for a cheaper fix. If your a new customer don't waste your time with these cowboys. They just want to attract customers that can't be bothered to switch.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for getting in touch with us about this.

We know there is no perfect time for a price increase, especially when you have recently joined us. As we offer a variable tariff, this means that our prices can go up or down depending on the energy market.

Since the beginning of this year the wholesale cost of gas has increased by a whopping 180% and with the UK’s reliance on gas fired power stations to generate electricity, this has resulted in a 265% increase in wholesale electricity prices.

Our price changes affect all our customers in the same way, and it is applied to everybody at the same time. Increasing our prices is not something that we take lightly and we will always give our customers 30 days’ notice of any price increase to give you the time to compare our tariff with the market and decide if you would like to stay with us. If you choose to leave you can do so with no penalty, as we do not believe in early exit fees, though we will be sad to see you go.

If you decide you would prefer to switch providers following this, you can do so before the 29th of October and we will honour the old prices until the switch is completed.

We do take feedback very seriously, and we would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

Double charge on standing daily charge

Igloo have been merrily charging me twice for the daily standing charge. I raised this before, they sounded friendly on the phone and said they will fix it. They sent a pointless email saying they will fix it. More than a month has elapsed, the new bill continues to be wrong. No signs of progress. Disgrace.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our service and I am sorry to hear that the price increases we have had to implement during your short time with us has impacted on your impression of us.

There has been an unprecedented energy price increase since the beginning of this year, with the wholesale cost of gas rising by 180%. With the UK’s reliance on gas fired power stations to generate electricity, this has resulted in a 265% increase in wholesale electricity prices too.

As we only provide a single rate variable tariff, our prices fluctuate with the behaviour of the wholesale market and this means we have to reluctantly increase our prices when the cost of energy rises.

It has always been difficult choice between holding off increasing prices for as long as possible, that end up with sharp tariff rises, or gradually increases prices more regularly to lessen the immediate impact on customers.

However, our variable Pioneer Tarriff gives us the opportunity to be reactive to any energy cost decreases in the wholesale market, so we can pass on savings to our customers as soon as possible.

We understand that a variable tariff is not suitable for everyone and we encourage customers to find a tariff that suits their needs.

We are very sorry to see you go, but hope that you will consider us again in the future when your fixed term is up.

Best Wishes,

Anna

We had reduced our prices at the beginning of 2020 and look forward to being able to bring our prices down again once the market recovers.

We understand that a variable tariff is not suitable for everyone and we encourage customers to find a tariff that suits their needs. We do not want our customers to pay prices for any longer than needed, so we can ensure they benefit from any cost reductions and not be locked into a contract.

The Energy Industry has been hit hard by the wholesale market cost of energy, however we still remain one of the cheapest variable tariffs and will always be open and transparent about our pricing, so customers can make informed decisions about their energy supply.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we really appreciate it and hope you are well.

I understand that it is disappointing to receive our announcement that our prices will be increasing shortly after joining us.

I would like to assure you that we do not take this decision lightly. We have absorbed the increasing wholesale market costs for as long as possible, however, these have continued to rise. As we offer a simple, variable tariff, all of our customers are affected at the exact same time.

We do hope that you will stay with us, however, we do not believe in exit fees and if you are able to find a more suitable tariff elsewhere, you can switch with the reassurance that you can do so without penalty.

Price hike after price hike

Price hike after price hike. I appreciate the whole sector is going through a rapid increase in wholesale prices, but Igloo are not as competitive as they state in their grovelling emails explaining the latest round of increases. I’m relieved to be moving on. Hopefully more will follow and we can start to get rid of the worst. If I warn one person away from this company that’s one less stress for someone else.

Constant price increases and impossible to contact

I moved to Igloo at the end of June - I'm still trying to fully close my account with previous supplier because igloo have messed my opening reading up and are impossible to get in touch with. Then today I recieved my second email in as many months, telling me the prices are going up again, this time by 13%. So, my direct debit has increased by £20 in 2 months! Really should have stayed where I was. This whole thing has been so stressful and I'm leaving as soon as I can. Just dreading how that is going to go, as they haven't even managed to set my account up properly yet. They've managed to take my money for two months though.

Absolute joke of a company

EDIT;
I have just switched to EON, something I should have done ages ago. Their standing charge works out £6/year more but their rate is only 18.866p and this is FIXED FOR 2 YEARS - IGLOO LOOK AT THIS!!!!!
OK, back in July, I gave you 1 star as I had just had my 4th price increase in 10 months. Today I received an email saying I was going to have my 5th increase in 12 months, surely a world record and this time it's going up almost 13%! You give the same BS about being competitive yet had I taken a 2 year fixed deal with another supplier I would have been quids in. In total I am well over 40% higher on my bills now than when I first stared with you less than a year ago. This is beyond a joke and you are no longer competitive.

Hi Laura,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

I am glad to hear that your switch to us was easy and that the smart meter installation went well.

Increasing our prices is not a decision we take lightly, and I am sorry that you have experienced two price increases.

Since the beginning of the year the price of gas has increased by more than 180%. Since April last year gas prices have increased by more than 610% and with the UK’s reliance on gas fired power stations to generate electricity, wholesale electricity prices have also increased by 265%.

We have done everything we can to minimise this price increase as much as possible. As a result, we will be £71 cheaper than the price cap for a typical Igloo customer.

I'm very dissapointed by price hikes, but Igloo support team at least cares for customers

I'm very dissapointed.

Been a customer for a few months, they offered a very good price initially and they and right after a month I got a large price increase email for about 10%, then just now a few months later I get another email saying prices are going up for 12% again ...

Edit: I really appreciate the reply from your team. It does clarifies the increases in prices and I certainly hope it does not increase again. For now it feels like Igloo is trying as much as possible to care for unhappy customers so I appreciate the honesty. I will change my feedback to 4 stars instead for the great customer support.
