Working with IKO products and be a roof pro contractor has become a huge part of my business

I am a builder in South East Idaho. Our local building materials vendor, Franklin Buildings Supply used to carry IKO shingles. I've have installed IKO shingles on nearly 1000 homes in the past 10 years, including 2 of my personal homes. These IKO shingles have been the point of contention with homeowners more than any other product I've installed. We regularly get winds ranging 30-50 mph. The shingles are rated at 110, which we never get. I've used several different installers over the years and had them use the recommended "high wind nailing pattern". Every time we get winds over 40 mph I get between five and 10 phone calls from homeowners who have lost shingles. In fact, I built my own house 5 years ago and 4-5 times a year I have to have somebody come to touch ups because I'll have a handful of shingles blow off. These shingles have a history of not tabbing down and sealing and then blowing off when there's even the slightest of wind gusts. I tried to work through Franklin building supply to have the Iko rep help me with a warranty on multiple houses and they've never stood behind the product, not even once. In fact, their response to warranty issues is so awful that finally the builders banded together and convinced Franklin building supply to switch to a more reputable company. Now they stock Owens Corning shingles and have for a couple of years. I have not had one complaint since they switched to Owens Corning shingles. I have probably spent $100,000 of the last 5 years repairing blow offs on houses that have Iko shingles. There's been zero reimbursement or warranty help from iko. Like I said, on my personal house, it is only 4 years old, I will probably be replacing at least the back side of my house with a different shingle. IKO offers a wide range of roofing and insulation products, but my experience was fairly average.

Our crew and customers love IKO shingles because of the looks and the coverage they give. We love their rewards program and the family feel to the company. Never loose that!!

Using products from IKO, we were able to use the IKO CodePlus System to gain a Fortified Roof with bolstered Iron Clad Warranties! Top to bottom this company backs the quality of its product being vertically integrated, in doing so they have created a system for some of the greatest quality control measures within the industry!

I want to rave about all of the IKO team knowledge. This team has been put together to form flawlessly. Everyone involved knows so much about the product and the chemistry behind there products. Each individual works so well together to form the IKO Brain Trust. I can honestly say anytime I have had a concerned customer, the team always leads me to the correct answer. The team has mastered all phases of internet marketing. They are what I call a well oiled machine.

In 2023, I learned about the FORTIFIED standard for roofing, and I was sold. FORTIFIED requires additional and/or enhanced products in order to install a roof more resilient to extreme weather.

In my search to find the best asphalt shingle manufacturer for FORTIFIED, I found IKO!

IKO caught the vision early and aligned products with FORTIFIED's 2020 standard. In addition to producing a high quality performance shingle, IKO makes all the shingle accessories you need.

It starts with the GoldSeam tape that's used to seal the roof deck. Then StormShield Ice and Water shield and Stormtite synthetic underlayment allow you to get the roof tightly dried in. The secret sauce comes next with the EdgeSeal rolled starter. This double-sided peel and stick starter locks in those rake and eave edges like nothing else we've used.

Both the Class 4 Nordic and the Class 3 Dynasty Performance shingles are built to last and withstand extreme weather. And the color selection is rich enough and diverse enough to make any home pop.

We often finish the roof with IKO UltraHP cap shingles to give the home an extra pop.

The date of experience on my review is one of the dates we installed a FORTIFIED/IKO CodePlus roof in Dallas, TX. The homeowners love their new high performance roof!
