My experience at the Immerse Medicine

My experience at the Immerse Medicine Summer School was truly unforgettable. I loved exploring medicine beyond what I normally learn at school and meeting curious and motivated students from around the world. The mentors were incredibly supportive, approachable, and inspiring, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The programme helped me become more confident and independent, while making me even more excited to explore medicine and research in the future. I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships, memories, and knowledge I gained along the way.

Few teething problems but overall brilliant life changing experience

I enjoyed the advanced and fast pace of the class, although I felt our tutor could have gone a bit slower to help us understand concepts better. The activities were enjoyable and fun, helping us make new friends and learn new skills. I made many new friends at the program, and every single mentor was funny, friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic about our learning. The food, albeit limited for vegetarians, was tasty, and the rooms were quite good for university accommodation. Although there were some small organisational issues, such as the delay in announcing important things to people and their parents, overall, I would definitely recommend. This experience changed my life and I would like to thank the immerse team for this.

A Cambridge Summer

The programme was amazing and well structured with all the mentors, tutors and officials being immensely helpful. I was non-residential so I did not live on campus but I still got to experience many beautiful things as well as how life would be as a student of Cambridge University. There was nothing in particular that wss unpleasant and overall I had a great time 👍🫶. I highly recommend this programme and would come again next year if possible.

Great summer school

I gained a lot of friends and the mentors felt like family. I thank them so much for being there for me all the time !!
I lived in a room in New court and the room was spacious, but there are infact spiders in lowkey every room and the bathrooms are shared so its a bit inconvenient.

My tutor Chloe was so helpful and amazing and she helped me through every step of the process, and even went an hour overtime on the last session to make sure my essay was perfect!

My experience at immerse Singapore

I have attended two Immerse programmes in the past, and one of them was Immerse Cambridge. My experience in Cambridge was absolutely amazing. The academics were engaging, the accommodation was clean and comfortable, the staff took excellent care of the students, and I genuinely enjoyed every part of the programme. Because of that experience, I had very high expectations when I enrolled in the Business Management programme in Singapore.

Unfortunately, the Singapore programme was the complete opposite.

The accommodation was one of the biggest disappointments. My room was covered in dust, to the point where I had to clean every surface myself with wet wipes before putting any of my belongings down. Every time I lifted my blanket, dust would fly into the air. The blanket itself was extremely thin and felt more like a piece of cloth than an actual blanket. The shared bathrooms were even worse. They smelled terrible, were unhygienic, and one of the shower stalls did not even have a working light. Considering how much this programme costs, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation.

The academic side of the programme was even more disappointing. I enrolled in Business Management, expecting to learn about business concepts, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, and practical business skills. Instead, we spent a significant amount of time talking about dreams, life goals, podcasts, and unrelated discussions. After several days, I still did not feel like I had learned what I came to Singapore for.

I understand that different teachers have different teaching styles, and I respect that. However, the lessons simply did not match the course description or my expectations. I also felt uncomfortable being repeatedly pushed to talk about my personal life and future plans when I came to the programme hoping to figure those things out through learning Business Management.

I raised my concerns during the programme and even provided photographs of the accommodation together with voice recordings from class to support my feedback. Although the staff were polite and tried to help, the overall issues were never resolved.

The experience became so disappointing that I made the difficult decision to leave the programme one week early. That was not a decision I made lightly. My parents and I invested a significant amount of money because we trusted Immerse based on my previous experience in Cambridge, but unfortunately, the Singapore programme did not deliver the same quality.

After waiting almost four weeks for a response regarding my refund request, I was offered another online Immerse programme instead. While I appreciate the gesture, it did not address the concerns I had raised. After my experience in Singapore, I no longer wish to participate in any further Immerse programmes. What my parents and I requested was a refund, not another course.

This review is not intended to criticize individual staff members, as many of them were kind and supportive. It is simply an honest account of my experience. I hope Immerse will improve the quality of its Singapore programme so that future students receive the standard of education and accommodation that I experienced in Cambridge.

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Singapore programme.

I cannot recommend Hannah Cutler highly…

I cannot recommend Hannah Cutler highly enough. She is an exceptional tutor, mentor, and educator who genuinely cares about the success of her students. From the very beginning of the programme, she created a supportive and encouraging learning environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and exploring complex ideas.

Hannah's knowledge, patience, and ability to explain difficult concepts clearly made a huge difference throughout my research project. Her feedback was always thoughtful, detailed, and constructive, helping me improve my critical thinking, academic writing, and confidence as a researcher. Rather than simply providing answers, she challenged me to think independently and develop stronger evidence-based arguments, which made the learning experience incredibly rewarding.

What truly sets Hannah apart is her kindness and dedication. She was always approachable, understanding, and genuinely invested in helping me achieve my full potential. Her encouragement motivated me to push myself further than I thought I could, and I finished the programme with skills and confidence that will benefit me throughout my future studies and career in medicine.

Working with Hannah has been an absolute privilege. She is not only an outstanding tutor but also an inspiring mentor, and I am incredibly grateful for everything she has taught me. If I had the opportunity to work with her again, I would do so without hesitation.

I personally went to a trip to Tokyo, Japan and it was amazing. Very nice, very recommended if you want more international friends and something to do in the summer.
