Independent Book Review wants you to read indie. Books that you’ve just got to hear about are being published by indie presses and self-publishers every day, but you might not see them on the shelves of your local bookstore. Why? Because they weren’t published by the Big Five. And you know what? We think that kind of sucks. In April 2018, we started IBR to encourage more readers to find their way to indie books. Bold, independent thinkers are proving that there are more than five ways to publish a damn good book. In addition to publishing reviews and book lists of indie books ONLY, we celebrate indie bookstores with city-roundups, and we provide author services to help authors improve their manuscripts and get their published books into the hands of more readers.

An excellent resource for writers!

I am a new author. Independent Book Review has been a tremendous asset to me. They are fair, but kind. You will not get undeserved accolades from them, but even the criticism will be positive and helpful. Nikolas Mavreas reviewed my fiction book. It is obvious that Mr. Mavreas is very well read and well educated. He read my book thoroughly and wrote a thoughtful, kind and reflective review. It was a review written by someone who knew what he was doing. At one point, he noted that my fiction is bordering on absurdism. Absurdism is a philosophical movement, and I would have to agree with him completely. In the review, he noted that I may be giving the Americans too much credit for the spread of English around the world. He may be right. That was a helpful and very constructive comment. These are good people trying to help struggling writers. This is a noble and honorable thing to do. The Editor in Chief, Joe Walters, is a kind sympathetic man. Frankly, I do not know how they make any money doing what they do. They hardly charged me anything. I think they are fully committed to advancing the careers of new writers. I wish there were more sites like Independent Book Review.
