One of the worst websites for tax preparation. Constantly bugging you to upgrade to premium support, just over and over and even though you choose no some kinda way they slip in charges. The site gets stuck in constant loops and you have to jump to some other sections just to break the loop. It's just the same questions over and over. You would think if you answered it one time and then moved on it would remember, but nope starts right back over and over I would never recommend this over priced worthless site to anyone. $209 to file a simple federal tax and 69 for state and. Stay away from this site and go elsewhere. Next year I'll surely go elsewhere. I've only attached the State invoice section to hide my identity.

Their customer service sucks.when my phone was stolen and I lost access to my Gmail address ,I lost my password and all access to my TurboTax account.I spent forever on two different conversations with them and they were no help whatsoever..vIt didn't seem to bother them a bit either. I'm conflicted
Turbotax is fantastic! I honestly never had issues nor problems with them in the past. That was until this year, I witnessed the most baffling customer experience of my life. (and it wasn't even the customer service representatives fault) It started off with the fact that I forgot my password/no longer had access to the gmail, that was associated with set account. I simply asked for an alternative solution, to be able to have access to my account, since an error message occurred when following the steps to retrieve my account through their website. After about a few minutes/having to call back the number numerous times, I simply just accepted what was told of me, made a new account and quickly/effectively, got my taxes done on time. While the situation was remedied, this is one experience that I will never forget/doesn't make me feel too confident in turbotax anymore. While I will still use their services (when I can't get ahold of anybody to pay to do my taxes nor have the time to do them myself) I will be very cautious next time, to memorize/have my password written down/hidden in numerous places, so this doesn't occur again. Never have I ever felt so conflicted, disappointed and shocked at Turbotax.
For the 2024
For the 2024, they removed the return tracking on the top of the screen which is showing you the amount you owe or IRS ower you. The support is horrendous. The company has no provision for bug reporting. Calling a so called expert does not help because they are clueless about the technical detail of the program or the "tax experts" are calling you (per your request) while driving and can't hear you. Will move to the other software.

Terrible, I did my 2024 taxes and my return was accepted on 1/23/25 , I did the 5 days early federal refund and was charged $25 cool. well here it is 1/31/25 still nothing in my account. I called turbo tax the young lady informs me irs not accepting until 1/27 so 5 days after the 27th ok cool, i called turbo tax just to see if my return will be there in my account on 2/1/25 and she tells me no you do not have a credit karma account and i informed her when i signed up for the 5 days early refund it gave me 2 options credit karma or my personal bank account and i went with my bank account, So the representative says oohh really ok give me a minute, So she says now on her end it’s showing my return was rejected, I said no it was accepted, When i first did my return it was rejected on 1/21/25 and 1/22/25 because i needed the pin the irs giving out again smh so i got the pin from them and they accepted the return, She ask in she look at my screen to see what i see that it was accepted because it could be my computer or app she says , I said sure she says no log in from a computer for me , i do and she see what i sees and she says that’s wierd , it normally takes 21 days so 5 days before the 21 days will give you having your return in 16 days i said that’s not what i was told lol smh she said but ima let you go and ima bring this up to them that it’s showing rejected on turbo end. I said no you gonna connect me to someone now and they can fix it now not me hanging up trusting in you. Like yall took $25 for nothing i won’t be using turbo tax again and i advise you all not to as well . Train yall people better to know their work,

Simply terrible
I just had an abysmal experience with TurboTax. They told me I couldn’t change my payment method for their services, even though I called 5 days business days before it was due. The supervisor Patrick said this detail was in the contract I signed when I selected the method of payment - it wasn’t, and I walked thru the entire contract with him. After he said he also couldn’t see it, he hung up on me. Then I had to wait til the next day to call back.
Their other “supervisor” who couldn’t do anything for me told me understands, but there’s nothing she can do. I’m not trying to get out of my payment, I’m trying to change the method of payment. Pretty simple. I’ve never used a service that processes a payment a full business week before it’s due. She references a bunch of emails I got, none of which stated I had a specific deadline to change my payment method. Then this supervisor, Melissa, said that there’s no link she knows of to leave a Google review. Weird, since there’s apparently hundreds of thousands of reviews on their website with over a 4.5 star rating. Also weird, since every other platform like Consumer Affairs & Trust Pilot are literally like a 1 star rating.
Stay away from this company. Their customer service is horrible & their leadership team actually doesn’t know anything. Just take a few extra hours and file your taxes yourself, and save $300.
Bank & brokerage tax form download errors.
1. We had five 1099's for CD's at one bank. It only downloaded two. A search on Google revealed that this has been a problem for at least 4 years.
2. One of the 1099's had a line 2 entry which shows the amount we paid for early cancellation of a CD. That is a deductible expense against interest income. TurboTax did not pick up the line 2 amount.
3. If you have multiple brokerage accounts at Fidelity it will not download the tax form for the second account.

Sometime during April 2023 to March 2024, my Turbo Tax account was hacked and taken over.
TurboTax controls the SECURITY of the account.
TurboTax told me I had to recover the account by sending copies of my photo ID and other private information.
I told them no and sent an identity theft complaint to the Feds and I accused TurboTax of the theft.

Horrible customer service!!!! I filed taxes for years with turbo tax and doing 2023 taxes, kept saying previous year taxes wrong and not go through and then I found out taxes for 2022 were not filed. I never got anything from them letting me know. Now I am filling for 2023 and get any help. Just staying on hold all day and then call disconnecting. No call backs. Don’t waste your money on turbo tax the do not help you when they messed up.

They clearly don't want you to file your own taxes so they made it as confusing as possible to do it yourself, instead they want to charge you for letting them do your taxes. Don't waste your time and money on their horrible service.
They have also taken to selling your tax information! Do not answer Yes to any of their attempts to get you to share your data! They are "sharing" it for cash - don't be fooled.

Every 1 star review is right! Worst company ever. Call in phone access to customer service non existent via menu and choices limited. Had to hang up and redial 5 times before I somehow got thru to cust service and they were worthless.
Bought the "do my taxes for me" and entered some income info and requested a call 4 times from their "call me button" which said I would receive a call back within 5 minutes and listed a reference number....no call backs.
Read the reviews here to late, but I did go back into my turbotax acct and delete all of my info.
Scan company! IRS has a free etax online for people who make $79K a year or less. think I will try that before going downtown to a certified tax preparer.
They only support 3 years of returns
I need to access my purchased 2019 Turbo Tax software to answer questions posed to me by the IRS. 2019 has a know activation bug. The workarounds don't work, and their answer was "we don't support it anymore and you can request a refund". They don't support their software while it is still within the IRS audit cycle? RUN AWAY! And their "Audit Defense" service is for what?
Fraudulent charges
I went all the way through preparing state and federal returns. Fought through the constant attempts to get me to buy additional products which I denied. Got to the payment, paid by credit card, got receipt with additional charge for MAX for $59. They refuse to refund. Filed fraud complaint with credit card company and BBB>

Adding to terrible record I see for TuboTax, as a user for almost 15 years.
Needed to revise the 1040 that I filed withTT.
Then it gave me a correct refund. But when I tried to enter my bank data for refund the TT form had some strange digit in the blanks and would not accept all the digits of my bank account.
Should I still file the amended return through TT? Then ask IRS for refund?
Well, TT then tolld me I could file return - but there also said I had no refund.
Seems obviious TT programming errors but have wasted hours in trying make a specific contact with TT.
I will not forget this pitiful response from TT!

The TurboTax software, 1) Has bugs, 2) Is INTENTIONALLY VAGUE & CONFUSING so you're FORCED to upgrade to plan where you need to speak w an expert (ripoff!!), 3) Long wait times for "expert advice" (inexcusable), 4) The "experts" (most of the time) are NOT accountants or CPA's!!! THE SOFTWARE (and support) ARE SO BAD I HAVE NO IDEA IF MY TAXES ARE CORRECT!!!! I have spent hours and hours WASTING MY TIME on this over- promise/under-deliver service. UNBELIEVABLE & AVOID. Intuit has taken a great product (TurboTax) and turned it into a rotten experience. You buy the program over the counter for $99 to $129. But now intuit wants to hustle and hammer you for more BS fee's for things that are of no value. This is why this rotten company is being sued and has paid out millions to consumers. Use the internet to learn how to avoid fee hustle and just use TT.
FRAUDULENT COMPANY UPGRADE PRODUCT WITHOUT TELLING YOU
Only to find out only when you go to file your return and it's considerably more money. Then told me the only way to use the product I wanted was to completely erase everything and choose a different product and start over. I've been filing with them for years and started my return thinking I was using the same product I've always used - what a surprise when I went to file and it was twice as money as I've paid previously. Their customer service person couldn't have cared less. There are quite a few alternatives. My recommendation would be to go elsewhere.
