Unlawful Withholding of Wages & Disgraceful Exploitation of Freelance Translators
I am absolutely appalled by the shocking lack of professionalism and gross mismanagement at ITL (North East) Limited. As a dedicated freelance linguist, I am currently facing an illegal withholding of my hard-earned wages for August 2026.
My completed translation timesheets and high-volume text files (totalling 14,383 words across multiple public sector contracts, including DVLA and local councils) were formally submitted with clear digital proof of delivery on Friday, 4th September at 10:40 AM. Despite providing irrefutable evidence from my Sent folder directly to the payroll team and the Interpreting Manager, Sean Thompson, the company has intentionally chosen to ignore the translations balance, processing only a tiny fraction (£60.99) for separate phone calls.
Retaining over £430 of a worker's wages while ignoring contractual payment dates is completely unacceptable and breaches UK labour compliance. Public sectors and NHS trusts partnering with ITL need to look closely at how this agency exploits its professional suppliers. I demand my outstanding translation balance to be calculated and transferred immediately. Avoid working with this untrustworthy agency at all costs!
