SCAM NEVER AGAIN! InterRent Tenerife: Considerable hidden charges, overpriced insurance, extremely slow attendance!

I was so unlucky to book my rental car via the Ryanair website that uses Cartrawler as a broker. The price pre paid to Ryanair was 45€ for 4 days. The cheapest comparable car rental on the island (Autoreisen.com) was 80€ including 4 days rental and full insurance coverage. I did not chose this as the Ryanair deal "seemed" cheaper.

My experience: First I had to wait for 1 hour in queue (only 2 people in front of me) as the rental lady was extremely slow and agressively and relentlessly kept trying to sell insurance to the customers in front of me.
When it came to my turn I got the same treatment and had a long discussion with her to try to fend off all her selling attampts. The initial additional price on top of the 45€ I had already paid to Ryanair was 227€ including a prepaid full tank 58€, a compulsory 40€ charge for filling the tank, 78€ insurance, 51€ taxes. So the total for 4 days car rental now added up to €272. If you deduct the value of the fuel 58€ you end up paying 214€. This compares to 80€ at Autoreisen.com for exactly the same!!!!!!

The only reason that I chose InterRent was that the apparent rental was €45 for 4 days compared to €80 at Autoreisen. Having booked through Ryanair I had never expected that this total would exceed 200€. Its a scam, a theft, a disgrace and a waste of time!

Ryanair car-rental and InterRent NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst ever (didn't want to believe, so had to learn the hard way)

One of the (if not the) worst car rental companies. They will trick you in as many additional over-priced insurances, give you a lousy run-down car and then leave you alone if you encounter any problem (and of course will treat you like the opposite of a valued customer along your journey). Never ever again. Low-cost at its worst.

Spend hours of your trip at the Barcelona airport Interrent office.

I had booked a car through my travel agent. It took 3 hours to get to the desk to do the paperwork, There were dozens of people waiting, he staff were so slow, so few and kept disappearing. The car was OK but had more damage already than Interrent had declared. Another delay to get the EuropeCar guy to update the acceptance sheet. It hadn't been cleaned since it left the factory. On return none of the offices was open (too early in the day) and the key drop at Europe car was out of order so the keys had to be dropped off 10 minutes away in a terminal. Next time I will rent a car direct with the rental company. A 3 hour wait after a flight is no good to me!

Interrent Barcelona Airport ....Worst experience EVER

We waited for more than 3½ hours in Barcelona Airport for our rental car, which we finally got after midnight on the 2/9....had paid Interrent in advance and all paperwork was ok ....BUT the service behind the counter was non existing, when I asked for their names they refused to give it to us....and the 'phone numbers we had did not work. There were so many travellers waiting for their rental cars .... will NEVER again use this company nor recommend it. We arrived at our location at 03.15 am on the 3/9 due to the waiting ..... no excuse nor refund from Interrent !

waiting for refund

We booked a car via carrentals.com and paid their by credit card. When we should pick up the car in Malaga they could not find our booking, despite of us providing booking number and everything. They just did a new booking and counterposted against what we already paid - so they said.
But, when we arrived home we had paid at both carrentals.com and interrent. We talked to customer service several times and they just ask us to write an email and they would refund the amount. We never heard anything and we can just keep writing them - nothing happens.
Besides that, the fuel fee is absurd. This can be seen from all other reviews as well.
If possible, I would have rated them with zero stars!
Cannot recommend this to anyone - stay away, this is scam!

Never ever

Our booking with interrent (Malaga AIRPORT) was a nightmare. When we arrived they refused to accept our credit card, even if it was written on their website that they accept that type of card. We were forced to pay full coverage insurance which doubled the previously paid amount of rent and in addition they did not accept Visa electron card which was not an embossed one. Finally I had to pay with my card (the above mentioned cards belong to my boyfriend) so they added me as an additional driver for an extra 100 EUR. We ended up with an amount which was 2,5 times hihger than the original one. The staff was extremely rude, when we were complaining they called the customer service which does not speak english and wanted from us to send an e-mail with our queries.
When we return the car the lady who was inspecting the car took my contract, she told us that everything is fine but she needed it and I am now waiting for the return of my 100 EUR deposit for the full tank but it does not seem to arrive. Today I wanted to send an e-mail to the customer service but it looks there is no e-mail contact on the website and calling them with my little spanish is priceless.
I would never ever recommend this company for car rental, we had several experience with low cost budget car rental companies but when we followed the terms and conditions we never had any issue.

Interrent lied to us.

Barcelona airport. July 2016.
It was late in the evening, and the lane was relatively short. But we still had to wait more than 2 hours due to extremely slow service at the counter.
We picked up the car full of fuel. We returned the car full of fuel. They said you will not be charged for fuel.
Guess what? They charged us 110 euros for fuel and service. What fuel? What service?
They don't respond to our emails! They don't have a phone number you can call!
Stay away from Interrent, and boicot EuropCar, which owns Interrent.

Very bad company. Unacceptable!!

I made the reservation with my travel agency and bought an insurance to pay me the franchise if anything bad append. When I picked up the vehicule on Tenerife South Airport, a very rude employee, spoked very fast and I didn't understand that she was saying for I buy another insurence. Then, she printed the contract and I read that she was charging me 137€.
I said that I don't need that insurence because I already have one, but her answer was that she couldn't cancel and I have to pay.
Is to bad. This is not low cost. This a swindle!!

I rented a car at Marseille airport, arriving tell me they are limited to 150km per day kilometers, and that is something that if I get to know not alkyl, well, I picture the marker at the time the couple rent to be careful and not spend, and also because if I could have a problem then being able to prove, and what is my surprise that get me a collection of almost 200 € more, why they say I pass 200km, and it turns out they have changed a number, in the real score is the number of 7938km, and they have since 7398, I have the picture of the scoreboard, time and day, and do not answer the post, I feel cheated.

HORRIBLE. NEVER AGAIN: DON'T HIRE A CAR WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE CAR,

Travelling from Spain to Scotland for holidays. We rented the car by the internet and pick it in Edinburgh Airport. Since the beginning the car had a yellow sing in the panel but they told us "YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHECK THE CAR, IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR" (exact words). WE PAY APART AN EXTRA COST "PEACE OF MIND" For two day we were in Edinburgh without moving the car. The third day, sunday, we travelled from Edinburgh to Perth. In Perth, 20:00, raining, the car is not working anymore. In the panel "ENGINE FAILURE". We call the assistance number and they tell us we have to phone VAUXHALL (the car was Astra). Please, take into account we are not English, we were making a huge effort in understanding everything. They don't give any kind of language assistance. We say "it's not Vauxhaull, but your problem"... Well, to sum up, after 3 or 4 calls, explaining to whole matter again and again, more than 2 hours latter, they send us assistance. The assistance made a review of the car and told us "it's not working, go to a hotel an wait till TOMORROW MORNING". You pay full assistance, peace of mind, and you have to wait more than 12 hours for having another car once they have given you a broken car !!!. The morning after we call EUROPCAR PERTH at 8 am. They send again an assistance (after another 2 or 3 calls) and again he makes a review of the car. AGAIN. After waiting the nigth before 3 hours, they just do the same. The new assistance wrote in the review " engine management fault codes POO90 Fuel pressure regulator circuit defective and POOC8 Fuel pressure control value power supply open circuit". All in all, the car was completely broken and I can say I have the suspiction that in Edinburgh airport they knew the car was a failure from the very beginning ("Don't check anything"...). This last man of the assistance recommended recovery of the car and they should give us a new car in Europcar Perth. This was 12 a.m. the day after of the incident. Meaning that we loose 16 hours of our holidays, of our money, being stressed, tired, ungry... I what they did? NOTHING AT ALL, I'M STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO APOLOGIZE OR ANY KIND OF COMPENSATION. Never again will rent with Interrent or Europcar and, of course, I will do my best to tell friends and social media never hire with any of them. ("Hopefully" we had paid "Peace of mind", it makes a "big difference" :( )

Charged 3 times as much as agreed on paper???

I use interrent because I do not want to waste time.

I call interrent office per phone and ask for the price if I chose to extend the rental till the 15.07.16. I’m being told that the price will be around 76 euro additional to the pre-payment I already have made. I accept this terms.

Just to be sure that everything is in order do I drive past their office in Venice and ask for a confirmation on the price they confirm orally the price of 76 euro. Just to be further sure do I ask for a printed copy with the price we agreed to.

However after having handed the car back do I receive a mail/invoice RA30085710.pdf stating that I have to pay 206.36 EUR additionally not the 76 euro we agreed to that is in the original

I send a mail to the relations department but gave not had any response.

Never trust the price announced on the web

Picked up an already reserved and pre-paid (via Rentalcars) car at Palma airport. Because my credit Card was not accepted by Interrent, I had to make a new reservation - and payment. Even though I had pre-paid for a total coverage and a the rent including everything, they cancelled my Insurance and made a new one for me - double price. And even though my previous contract said that I should return a full tank, they told me that I could only hire a car pre-paid for a full tank plus a special fee for filling it up. All-in all, the price ended up being almost double of the pre-paid.

Poor performance @ Girona Airport

We were waiting for about an hour (other customers much longer) to get the reserved car. Only on employee in the rush hour - really poor performance!
Car was rent for 16 days, one additional conductor was needed for 4 days - no chance. We had to pay the additional conductor for all 16 days because "the software is not able to do it in another way".
Not customer-friendly.
Never again with Inter Rent.

Excellent service after reading bad reviews

Arrived at Malaga airport and went straight to the Interrent desk expecting to be charged for the excess insurance which I had purchased separately. No need to worry. Dealt with efficiently and with no request for extra insurance. Staff member wore a Europcar shirt so this company must be associated with Europcar. Lovely car, clean and tidy.

DON'T USE INTERRENT! (Faro) They are rude Scammers!

DON'T USE INTERRENT EVER!

We did got scammed at Interrent (Faro) a little bit even though we were very careful:

-We checked the car thoroughly for damage, BEFORE signing their form. And found multiple small scratches. (they told me it was not possible to sign AFTER checking the car, so I just walked to the car with the papers. Don't let them trick you! you can ALWAYS sign AFTER you agree on what you're signing.)
-We mentioned that we would return the car FULL, which they didn't like but agreed to in the end.
-If you already have insurance DON'T let them trick you into getting more insurance because you'll be paying DOUBLE. The only thing they said that was true while trying to convince me I MUST?? get their insurance to be insured was that IF something happens, they will charge you the money from you credit card. WHICH IS FINE. You're insurance will pay you back afterwards because that is wat insurance does!
-The women got very rude and annoyed because she wasn't able to sell me any extra's. I stayed polite and calm during the whole process which might have gotten her more angry because she finally understood I would not get tricked into anything. (no bonus for her because she couldn't SCAM me).

The Scam:
When we handed the car back the tank was 100% full, we filled it down the road from Interrent.
On the Invoice I received later they charged me 2/8 of the full tank. Not the end of the world but still ANNOYING.

DON'T USE INTERRENT EVER!
We had a tough start of our holiday because of the experience of getting the car, even though I didn't feel that upset.

Tire Fraud

Had a car for 3 days, everything went fine and without complications. The desk clerk even helped us pick the right distance package and insurance, so we would save some money. After returning the car with everything being okay, no damages, interrent took the car and told us "everything is perfectly fine". 3 weeks later our credit card got charged for 189€, obviously a tick for a replacement tire was missing on the return form. We never saw (/used/sold/..) a replacement tire, and we weren't told when returning the car.

We will take legal measures and learned our lesson - the other reviews here are similar, this is a pack of criminals, frauding customers where possible. Please book with another company OR double check everything when picking up the car and returning it. But I'm pretty sure they will find SOMETHING to let you bleed.

Quick and friendly service

I booked a car from Heathrow, but I didn't realise that I had to phone for a shuttle service, unlike the other companies that provide frequent shuttle services. Anyhow, after phoning, I only waited for about 15 minutes.

When I reached their office, there were 3 employees so I didn't have to wait. They also worked quickly, and without asking if I wanted an upgrade, unlike the other companies, they upgraded me. They provided friendly service, and the car was in good condition.

Again, there was no waiting when I returned the car. It was checked at the time, signed for immediately, and I was given a lift back to the airport straight away.

No waiting. No selling malarkey
