Go to settings or menu on tv , look for Data service application, this is normally set to High privacy setting, turn this back to a Low privacy setting, your iPlayer should now be fixed

From an efficient and manageable app which remembered where we'd got to in a series and let us choose episodes from random series to an utter disgrace of an app with no 'continue watching' option and vast swathes of content impossible to watch unless we watch it continuously (try doing that with Doctor Who for more than a few hours).
Utterly, totally, comprehensively pathetic.
Whoever is behind the banner message about the app looking a bit different today but we can watch as normal is not living in reality.
Yet again some dunderhead has decided to fix something that wasn't broken and has broken it.
Idiots.

Lie about coverage being live stream while it wasn't
Absolutely pathetic and disrespectful to viewers. The Olympics Team Sprints were starting at 10:45am for women and 11:15am for men. Around 11:05am, the iPlayer coverage switched to women's final pretending it is live broadcast, while the results were already available!! At the same time, men's final started in real time, but instead of broadcasting at least this one in real time, we were forced to watch the women's recording! Very disrespectful to lie like that to customers, and very pathetic of BBC.
Annoying Trailers
Programmes okay once you get to them but can't find an option to skip annoying trailers on my remotes.
What a load of crap
What a load of crap! I’ve been trying to watch some of the Winter Olympics in the evening and all I get is “oops something went wrong” everything else works, I have super fast fibre internet and yet this app can’t even load! And the robbing BBC are putting the license fee up! What a joke! You can stuff your BBC where the sun don’t shine, I’m opting out!
Does this actually work?
Does this actually work?, I'm either watching a black screen, it's stuck on the bbc iplayer logo, it tells me it's "taking longer to load give it 30 seconds" but I'm sat for 10 minutes waiting. By the time it does load after 5 or 10 times switching the TV off and back on again I have to get ready for work so I've missed the only peace time to watch my programs without toddler disruption. This has happened for months now. The bbc is a big business raking in millions but yet can't seem to manage to have a simple little app to load properly. I know there's far worse to be bothered about but seriously from a mum of 4 this is the only peace I can have...sort it out.
Staring at a black screen

No service for 3 days now, this is happening all the time . Rubbish!!
Can no longer skip the trailers
Can no longer skip the trailers. I had fondly imagined the BBC wanted to be better and focus on quality, but it seems all they really care about is market share. Just look at the clickbait ridden news app with articles written by machine or people with a thin grasp of grammar and zero ability to proofread. Now iplayer is just as annoying as the other streaming services that force you to watch their self-promotion over and over again until you are so sick of the program being promoted that you will never ever watch it.
Rubbish crap
Couldn't rewatch and difficult navigation
I managed in the end to connect my tv to BBC I Player just by chance really as it refused to work for ages. I wanted to watch Tom Odell at Glastonbury due to the normal channels omitting him and it gave me a choice of whether to view from the beginning or live (I'd missed 20 minutes). I chose from the beginning but his act still finished at 10pm. After this his appearance completely disappeared from my tv screen, couldn't rewatch or catch up what I missed. It just had other acts I didn't want to see like Lorde, Raye etc. Hoping it'll reappear another day so I can watch it in full. Pity this artist has never or will ever release one of his concerts on dvd which is much more reliable than trying to watch online!
Beware, BBC iPayer is replaced by a new one that can leave you in the lurch
I went to use BBC iPlayer at 9pm and it had gone! It wasn't in my list of apps, nor in the Google App Store!! I looked around and found there is a new iPlayer with a short list of unwanted new features, but it wasn't available to my big 55" 2018 SONY TV. Hard cr@p, there's £1600 of TV needing attention due the BBC's useless upgrade policy. By now it's 11:40 hrs. Multiply the time wasted by the number of people whose time is wasted and you get quite a big number, probably a lot bigger than the pencil-brains that went ahead with an upgrade that deserts their complete customer base of smart Android TVs. Real clever. I'm about to try using an app called downloader to run an app called letsgetitcracking to download the binary of the new iPlayer.
Just so annoying
Just so annoying. Been trying to watch Queens Club Tennis. Firstly, the programme seems to start after the actual matches. Secondly, the feed will just suddenly end even though the matches continue. Today the feed stopped at around 1925. Why does the feed have to stop? Is there a logical reason why the programme cannot continue until the end of play? And why should I have to sign in?

The play in full screen button has been removed, almost unusable like this!!!!!
Can't beat the BBC
For me, it's the best TV streaming app available.
I watch little else.

Utter c@rp - have to attempt, and FAIL to sign in 3 times before being refused access yet again.
This is despite being told yesterday evening that 'you will never need to verify again'!!!!!
Yesterday I did get service, but only after jumping these hoops. I give up, and can only wait until the scaffold comes down so that my dish works again.
