James Usher is a proud stockist of Italian fine jewellery brand, Fope and Scandinavian designer brand, Georg Jensen as well as a variety of high-quality, elegant men’s and women’s watch brands including Montblanc, Bremont, Seiko, Hamilton, Tissot and Mondaine. The Usher name is synonymous with the beautiful, historic city of Lincoln. James Ward Usher, born in 1845, followed in the footsteps of his father, as a talented jeweller, watchmaking expert and entrepreneur. He acquired the patent to create jewellery, lapel pins, spoons and forks using the image of the famous Lincoln Imp. This is a mythical figure historically associated with the city of Lincoln. He even gifted a Lincoln Imp pin to the Prince of Wales at that time, who was seen wearing the item. James Usher joined the H. L. Brown Group of jewellers in 1973.

Wonderful friendly, helpful staff.

I was choosing a gift for my husband for our anniversary. The staff were so helpful. I gave them my budget and my ideas and they helped me pick out 2 watches. The lovely gentleman even modelled them for me. I didn't do the warranty paperwork there and then, in case he didn't like it. Once he'd opened the gift and loved the watch, I phoned up. The lovely gentleman sorted out the warranty over the phone and posted the paperwork to me. So very helpful.

Call in, you won't regret it.

Having been customers for many years and continue to be, we can definitely say Usher's is a place where customer service is in the DNA. No hard selling, just good honest advice and guidance, so you as the customer, can make an informed choice about the piece you're interested in. Everyone in the team is a credit to the Usher's name. Heartily recommend you drop in for a visit. You will be warmly welcomed.

Poor customer service

I took my Omega Seamaster watch for a battery change and it immediately started to lose time, which it had never done before. I took it back and was told the battery was showing full charge and it may be due a service. I took the watch elsewhere and when he removed the back of the watch the battery was sticking up and the clamps holding the battery were in splayed out. He rectified this for me and the watch is now keeping perfect time. It appears that the clamps were damaged by Ushers but they refuse to accept any liability even thought the watch always kept perfect time before they changed the battery.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent experience and understand how frustrating it can be when a timepiece you rely on develops a fault.

Our records show that the Omega was brought to the showroom for a standard battery replacement, carried out by a long-serving, experienced technician. Upon your return visit the same technician reinspected the battery and confirmed it was holding a full charge. We were not made aware of any visible issue with the battery placement or clamps during either visit.

Whilst we respect alternative opinions provided by third-parties, we were not given the opportunity to assess the watch in its altered state, before those repairs were made. This makes it impossible for us to fairly evaluate or confirm the condition they observed, or the assertion that the fault originated with our handling.

We understand your decision to take the watch elsewhere for a battery and a pressure test. However, as we were not consulted or involved in the additional work carried out, we stand by our original goodwill offer of refunding the cost of the battery replacement.

We do take all concerns seriously and regret that this situation has led to your dissatisfaction. Our team remains committed to delivering honest, careful service, and we are confident in the professionalism of our staff.

We wish you many more years of timekeeping with your Seamaster, and thank you for your past custom.

Jewelry repairs

Visited James Usher recently and it was a really good professional service. I had a ring re plated and the shine was unbelievable, it was like the day it was purchased! It was reasonably priced too. I was so pleased with the whole service I have since returned with my necklace to be cleaned and another ring has been re plated. They said 2-6 wks for one of the rings and it was returned within a week! Lovely staff too! Many Thanks 🙏 💍

Perfect for Engagement Rings

The service I received in choosing an engagement ring with James Usher was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were incredibly attentive and provided me with ample options and advice, including offering modifications to make the ring just right. I would recommend them to anyone!

Excellent jewellers and service

James UsherJewellers in Lincoln is one of my favourite jewellers. The staff are always friendly and helpful and spend a lot of time with you talking about pieces of jewellery that you’re interested in. Andrea, Zoe and Vanda are very knowledgeable about their brands and a delight to deal with. Their jewellery is excellent quality and several of their rings that I’ve bought are now my favourite pieces. They have some great brands including Fope and also some lower priced Jewellery inside the shop, so there is something for everyone. They can also transfer pieces from their other stores in the Hl brown group. It’s a great, traditional jewellers which I highly recommend.
