We genuinely can’t recommend John at J Design highly enough.

From the very beginning, he was patient, approachable and incredibly easy to work with. We were initially unsure about appointing an architect, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made.

Our house felt disjointed and lacked any real flow. We were completely stuck on how to make the layout work. John not only solved it, he transformed it. The new design has clarity, function and a natural flow that the house never had before. Every space now feels considered and intentional.

He struck the perfect balance between creativity and practicality. His ideas were imaginative but always realistic and grounded in how we actually live. He clearly understands the local area and planning environment. He also handled Building Control and compliance, and everything was approved without issue.

The plans themselves were produced to an exceptionally high standard. They were detailed, clear and incredibly helpful for the builder. Everything was properly thought through. Nothing felt rushed or overlooked.

Beyond the technical side, we simply enjoyed working with John. He was responsive, thoughtful and genuinely invested in getting the best outcome for us.

If you’re debating whether to appoint an architect, we were in the same position and we’re so glad we did. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend John and would absolutely work with him again in the future.

We have recently been putting plans together for a small single storey extension, and found John via some similar plans submitted to Eastleigh Borough Council for a neighbour. I have to say John's service has been first class, explaining all aspects every step of the way, underpinned by a thorough knowledge of local and Southern Water planning rules. He has contributed some really good ideas to our plans, whilst also delivering exactly in line with our requests. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I used J Design to draw up plans for a small domestic building project (replacing a small conservatory with a brick extension) and have had wonderful service. Right from the start I received prompt and friendly communications, followed by useful architectural suggestions. The timescale and submission of plans to my local authority was clearly explained and managed by J Design. Any queries I had were dealt with in a very helpful manner. J Design provided an excellent, friendly, understandable service - I can't recommend them highly enough.

We met with John (of J Design) back in February to discuss some initial ideas for the property we were buying and instantly built up a good rapport with him and it became clear he would be someone who is good to work with during the design process. John quickly undertook the site detailed survey and generated an initial design using the information we had provided through discussions and a 'needs' and 'wants' list. Following the initial design we worked closely with John to make any alterations to the plan whether major or minor or simply not possible due to physical constraints of the property, John was always happy to discuss through any changes we wanted to make to ensure our ideas and vision were replicated into the plan allowing us to have the property we want when it's complete. The whole planning process has been very easy to navigate through using the services of J Design.

John has been a pleasure to work with and I would have no hesitation in recommending his services should you wish to undertake any extension or remodel of your property.
