I’ve had no issue with the gym itself but the women’s toilets are mad. Majority of the time there’s no soap (esp when hitting peak hours later in the day) which is filthy in a gym, like 2 of the doors... See more

I am currently having the worst time…
I am currently having the worst time ever at JD Gyms Barnsley, after 6 weeks of back and forth emails due to a malfunction with the vending machine (it owes me £21.50) I resorted to contacting Liam Benson the assistant manager of that gym. He replied swiftly for the very first email. Then proceeded to ignore the emails for a further two weeks, I have provided the evidence has asked for and now he has stopped replying altogether.
The gyms treadmills constantly change speeds and are very very dangerous, the roof is leaking, the tiles in the showers are loose, the vending machine charges you and doesn’t dispense any products, the cleaners don’t do their job and the gym is constantly dirty! The weighted machines are all missing pins, the bikes are out of order.
I understand things go wrong but this gym is possibly the worst JD gyms I have ever been to. The staff are awful and are not friendly what so ever, they sit in their little bunch and just talk, they don’t offer any help or assistance.
I am afraid that this will Be my last month using this gym before I go to Everlast as I have just done a trial with Everlast and the extra opportunists available are amazing.

Friendly Environment
The gym in itself is very clean and not messy in terms of weights just being left everywhere . As a woman I feel comfortable as there aren’t weirdos who are constantly staring & everyone is friendly including staff . It isn’t always busy which I like because you aren’t just constantly standing around waiting to use any equipment or machines . Price is very reasonable also & id deffo recommend , 10/10

Great equipment
Great equipment, not having to wait about to use equipment, friendly staff great changing room and showers plus being open 24 hours helps can go to gym around my shifts

Appalling
No instruction given at recent Zumba class in Barnsley, as a newbie you are just expected to know what to do and the moves that are coming next, no warm up, no nothing, worst class I’ve ever been to in the 30 years of attending exercise classes.

The long opening hours are great
The long opening hours are great. There’s always machines / equipment available, I attend at 1045am everyday, so maybe it’s quieter then. Some of the padding on the machines is worn / old and it’s painful to lift the weights, particularly on the leg extension. Some of the machines are also squeaky and there are ‘pins’ missing on some machines so I have to take a pin with me to adjust the weights on other machines.
The other problem I have faced is there are no lockers to use unless I take my own padlock. There should be lockers available without having to take a padlock.

Been to gym this morning Friday 15th March 2024 at 2.30am. Having finished my gym session, I went into the men's changing room and it was an absolute mess. The floor was dirty, towel and rubbish on the floor & water bottles all over the floor also. There's no excuse for this. This is what happens when Rob isn't on duty. He's got the week off till the 19th of March, so let's hope it's not a mess again untill then

Good gym
For the price and equipment it is a good gym. Most of the times not too busy. Plenty of room as well.

Good and hazards
I love the space that there is but the car park is unsafe with all the pot holes and that it is not well light. Especially for those that go later on an evening. The machines are amazing. And the staff are friendly
