Criminal damage and no communication from Jenkinson Builders

While doing some work on a house 2 doors away from ours, they trespassed on our property without our knowledge or permission, and caused significant criminal damage. The main damage was knocking down a 2 metre section of a brick wall in our garden in order to get a mechanical digger to their site. They also damaged the corner of our house and broke some stone paving stones, trampled on plants in our garden and uprooted several climbing plants.
After I managed to speak to Richard he assured us that he would 'make everything good', but it has taken 6 months for that to happen and my wife and I have had to chase them every step of the way. They ignored all our emails, and it was only when I phoned him directly anything got communicated. We asked him to let us know when any remedial work was going to be done and we were never given any dates, we would just discover it when we checked the back of the house, sometimes days after the work had been done.
The neighbours directly next to the property being worked on had an even worse experience, including work commencing with no foundation excavation notice, no shared party structure notice and damage to their property.
If it were my company, I would have been mortified, profusely apologetic and gone above and beyond to ensure that everybody was well informed about work and kept happy. We were made to feel as if we had done something wrong, and had to chase them at every stage, and even argue about being compensated for damage.
