Horrible to do business with

Shopped at j. jill for first time near end of June & opened a credit account. My bill was due on Aug. 3. I mailed a payment on July 30 for the total amount due, $206.06. Last week I received a bill for a $27 "Late Fee", claiming my payment got there 2 days late. That $27 is over 13.1% of what was due, and I had mailed to total due FIVE DAYS BEFORE the due date so I don't even believe it took 7 days to go from PA to TX. I worked in accounts payable for many years and we always went by the postmark date on customer payments.

I deal with many companies and generally if this kind of situation occurs they waive the late fee as a courtesy. NOT J JILL! Even though I told them to cancel my account and I will do no further shopping with them, they didn't care and would not give an inch - and they still want the $27. In fact they said if they don't get the $27 by Sep. 3, they will charge me an EXTRA $37 fee on top of that - which is 137% of what's due. This is usury!

The agent on the phone was extremely rude, uncaring, and made no attempt to keep me as a customer at all. I told her I was extremely unhappy with J Jill. - No reaction at all! She just said my account is now closed but I must still send them the late fee of $27 to avoid having a new $37 fee (that's 137% ) slapped on my credit report. I have never dealt with any company that had absolutely ZERO concern about trying to retain a customer and make things right.

When I told her again I was extremely unhappy with J Jill her reaction was "Is there anything else I can help you with?" Me - "NO, and you didn't help me." Her - "Have a good day" REALLY J JILL????? What a horrific way to deal with a customer. I will be warning anyone I know to avoid this store.

JJill Not Easy for Petite Women

Although there are two JJill stores in New York City where I reside, in neither of them are there any Petite sizes available, although most items in their online and in their catalogue are in petite and women's sizes . If one wants to purchase a petite size at their stores, one must order it there and then it will be sent out with free shipping. The beauty of having a store in one's area is that one can try the clothes on for a more accurate fit. This is especially helpful with this company because their clothes tend to run large. But this convenience is not available to Petite women although JJill proudly advertise that they fit Regular, Tall and Petite. If after visiting one of their stores, then ordering a Petite at the store and having to wait for it to be mailed, the item on arrival doesn't fit and has to be sent back this is a tremendous inconvenience and waste of time. Why are Petite women discriminated against????

Expidited shipping a scam

Don't bother to pay the extra $8 for two day shipping. They use FedX and it has to be ordered before 3 Easter Time. So if you are in California it is actually 1:00. In addition it is 2 BUSINESS DAYS and they don't count Saturday. USPS delivers on Saturday and is a better way to ship. So 8 additional bucks buys you absolutely nothing!!!!
I ordered on Thursday 12:30 California time and will not be getting the items until this coming Tuesday. That's not 2 days.

Questioning integrity or reviews

I have been an on line JJill customer for many years. Recent purchases have shown to me a change in the quality of their items. I wrote a review on their site of a recent purchase I made. Prior to my purchase, I read a review stating that the item did not hold up well when it was washed. When I received my item, I was surprised at the thinness of the fabric. My review, which was written in a rational, informative tone, was declined publication on their site. This leads me to believe they are screening out the not so positive reviews. I am disappointed and will likely not buy from them online, as I cannot see the quality of the item before purchase.

Easy buying experience / good quality clothes

I've ordered from JJill four times in the last year. Just got my latest order - of Superga slip on shoes, a couple of pants, two shirts, and several tank tops. The quality of the items are super good. But I always read reviews before purchasing so I've been happy with my buy's b/c of the real customer feedback on their website. Love this feature on their website.

I also use their store credit card that gives and extra 5% discount. Overall, always consistent delivery service. And they have promos if you are on their mailing list. Wish shipping was a little cheaper though - it's about $12.
