Really good company image and marketing, slick website, brilliant sales team and advice.

All good for a year but then it’s just the same old story, the matters starts to overly soften/settle in the middle, where you sleep. The only reason this isn’t 1 start is because it’s an industry rare flip mattresses & so you get a couple of nights of the proper support you paid for every week or so until is softened again.

All mattress companies will term you this isn’t a fault, they stand being the slightly lax regulation which protects them and puts them in the right, not the consumer. If the regulations were on the consumer side I suspect all matters companies would instantly be in for a very hard time, but we’d get to see if we’d all been ripped off all these years because maybe they can actually manufacture mattresses which don’t dip and sag after a year or so.

I can’t be bothered fighting it or getting a waste of time home visit to tell me what I already know, it hasn’t dipped enough. The problem comes when the mattress is under load, not when it’s just static and the gaps are full of air instead of densely packed filling.

This never used to happen with mattresses, the full spring type used to just last decades and provided good support all that time, the more complicated they’ve become the worse they’ve become. Sure they feel great for a year, which I bet is when most of the 5 star reviews are done.

My wife thinks I have mental problems because we get a new mattresses every 3 years because of dipping. Once we’ve paid one off we buy another in false hope it’ll be better. We’re both also under 11 stone, there are very few couples with a combined weight as low as ours so the pressure of the mattress is low.

So what do we do? Nothing. I don’t have the energy for more disappointment. I’d advise you to avoid but honestly where else do you go? They’re all the same.

I might set up a company who will come and inject new filling for your mattresses for £200 so bring them back to life. I’d make a fortune.

No, I can’t be bothered contacting you for you to play by the rules which are against the consumer and support the manufacturers in making it acceptable beds that dip. That don’t last. That cost me ~£2000 and last less than a year. I don’t have the energy for the disappointment.

I’m not going to have someone come to my house and tell me it’s not dipped enough for anymore to do anything about. You know well enough that the problem happens when weight, a body, is on the mattress. The filling loses its strength and can’t support the weight of a body.

You’d get rich if you designed a way to pump filling into what we the consumer think is a failing mattresses. I’d pay you £150-£200 to do it I honestly would.

Bought the mattress years ago and I LOVE it - I found the one I wanted elsewhere and spoke to them about what their equivalent was - which was considerably cheaper than the one I liked on the high street. Regretted not buying the matching base (I bought a slatted base to match my other bedroom furniture instead). Finally got around to getting the divan base with head and foot board to match and it's so much better, more comfortable, no dip in the mattress now. They sent me a fabric book to help decide on material & colour and I'm delighted with my full bed set up now. Excellent quality, sturdy and plush. My mattress is super deep and I have multiple types of protectors and toppers (yep, princess and the pea) so be aware if you like that type you'll need very deep fitted sheets for it.

Mattress is top quality, 4 week lead time was definitely worth the wait. Communication was great throughout and mattress was taken to room of my choice no fuss.

This company is so helpful, changing my delivery date to suit me more than once as our house move kept changing. Customer services had also helped me to select a mattress. It is an amazing product and we have never slept so well. The delivery men were also really good Perfect shopping experience. Totally recommend this company and their mattresses.

After putting up with our memory foam topped mattress for a few years longer than we should featuring two 'coffin' indents either side(!) we jumped into buying a Simba. It wasn't great and realised we should've actually done some research for what is quite an important purchase, sent it back and undertook some proper research of different companies before deciding on John Ryan instead getting an Artisan Bespoke 004. Spoke to super-helpful Julie several times for advice before going ahead and purchasing. Placing order to delivery was about 5-6 weeks from memory which felt like a long time as we were absolutely hanging out to get a decent mattress! We've had it for one month now and just done the first 'flip' (thanks for the tips and guidance on that one). I have a bad back and the old coffin had been massively exacerbating it. We absolutely love this mattress, you can tell that it is fantastic quality and my back is loving it. No regrets... other than not doing this years ago.

John Ryan apart from the quality of their products they provide excellent customer service, they go that extra mile for the customer, which is always greatly appreciated. From start to finish everything ran like clockwork
Top Notch.

Never thought we would buy a new Mattress and Base online but after finding the JR by Design website which is full of really useful information and advice, we took the plunge. Furthermore the customer service team are also fantastic and make the process very simple. As for the Mattress and Base, we are a few weeks down the road and we're really pleased with both the quality and comfort of our purchase. The no quibble 60 day "love it or return it" guarantee is also very reassuring but looks like we won't be using it!

Second time we've bought a product from John Ryan. Still using the main mattress we bought 8 years ago but have just replaced the topper that came with it. We did try another topper from elsewhere but the quality just wasn't as good. Always great products but also brilliant service, happy to spend time working out the best option for you. Totally recommend and will return again when needed. Thank you.

Our new mattress, base and headboard are amazing. They were expensive but worth every penny. Julie Collier was very helpful answering questions I had ahead of placing the order including sending us a sample book to help us choose the correct fabric.

I love my new mattress. From start to finish when ordering this with John Ryan by Design it was a smooth and professional service - a rare thing these days.
The quality of the mattress is first class and I am sure I will sleep well on it for many years to come. I would certainly recommend this company and its fantastic mattresses.

Delivery was really good and immediately got a good night's sleep, especially as I had sent a mainstream more expensive mattress back after two weeks as it was killing me

Amazing comfy mattress and customer service

Communication and general customer service are excellent. This is the 4th time I have dealt with John Ryan and there customer care is unchanged.
The down sides are, a couple of weeks after spending over£5000 there was a discount on offer. Just bad timing.
The second concern is the mattress rating.
I bought the Artisan Luxury which is the softest in the range. If this is JRs idea of soft, I pity anyone buying a firm mattress.
This is not to criticise the quality but just their idea of soft.

And last of all product brilliant.

Understandably when buying something like a mattress, you want to try it rather than buying blindly online but the website was very informative and helped me made my decision. We opted for the Origins Pocket 1500 which is very comfortable, although next time we'll probably go for the range with more natural fibre.

The website is full of helpful information, and once chosen JR staff phone and chat to make sure everything's right for you - which involved changing to a zip and link mattress with different ratings for us.
Delivery couldn't be easier with the mattress unpacked, put on the bed and packaging taken away.
Plus, the mattress is awesome and we're both sleeping far better.
