I have a standard telephone number that I use when ordering online. It is immediately recogonizable as not being a valid number. I do not release my REAL telephone number online to strangers.
Unless the business is in the business of selling customer information, it's not a problem, a valid email address along with valid name, address, and credit card number is what is needed to make the transaction.
