Nightmare grooming experience…

What a terrible dog grooming experience. Took my show cocker spaniel for first groom. Discussed with the groomer what I wanted. I explicitly said just a tidy up as it was her first professional groom. I also expressly said I wanted to retain her leg feathers etc and I did not want her clipped all over. I repeated just a tidy up. I explained she was a bit antsy about her feet and legs. Groomer said fine happy to do the groom. Groomer said it would take 2 hours. They would phone me. 2 hours passed. No call. So I returned to the groomer who came to the door totally flustered. Oh I’m not finished yet. I was surprised. She’s small and 2 hours seemed a long time anyway. But as he spoke 3 uncollared dogs ran out of the door and into the street. Two went one way bolting up the road and one went the other. The groomer owner ran into the street calling for them to come back but to no avail. He was foul mouthed (f’ing hell shouted in the street). He still had a client’s dog with him although this one was on a lead. I tried to help collect the other two dogs but the more I tried the more they moved away so I stopped. Eventually he caught them all and we returned to the house. The grooming studio was a proper studio built in the rear garden. He’d left my dog in the grooming table whilst all of this was happening. His wife (also a groomer apparently but nowhere to be seen) was not present. My dog was barking and howling at the chaos and very stressed. However when I entered the studio I was shocked and sick to my stomach. My dog had been cut and clipped completely against my instructions. All her beautiful leg feathers gone. Instead her legs had been clipped right back. Front and back. Her lovely chest and underbelly had been clipped short although some of her belly feathers had been left but cut unequally. Her paws had been trimmed but still straggling hair left between the toes. She was highly stressed and just wanted to leave. So did I. I said to the owner groomer I was very unhappy. I said he had no right to go against my instructions without at least phoning me. He made up some story about her fur being matted in places so he had to clip. Utter nonsense. As I explained to him at the start I had already bathed her as she had got muddy before the appointment. I bathed her and dried her and I combined every inch of her before the appointment. No lugs. No matting was present. He said he tried to cut the leg feathers but she did not like it. So he shaved them OFF!!! How dare he. He should have phoned me and explained the situation and asked me whether I wanted to collect her or let him shave/clip her. My answer to the latter would have been definitely NOT. NO APOLOGY. He shrugged his shoulders when I explained all of this to him. He offered to clip her nails “anytime”. AS IF I WOULD EVER TAKE HER BACK. He asked for payment by bank transfer and I asked him to send me the details for payment. I was so distraught. He’d suggested shaving in the beginning and I said I did not want that but he just did it anyway without my consent. My dog was highly stressed by this whole experience and I just wanted to get her out of there. When we got home I inspected her even more closely. Where he had clipped the feathers off the front legs he had clipped so deeply in that area compared to the rest it looked like he had shaved her down to the skin. Everything was uneven. Scissor marks not graded in. Toe fluff still present. I phoned him to calmly explain how unhappy I was. He denied shaving her feathers. The photos show otherwise. He said he had only cut the feathers. Total untruth as the photos clearly show. He got angry in the phone and then hung up. I phoned back. He would not pick up. If you are thinking about taking your dog to these people think twice. It’s your call of course.
