Kensington is the UK’s leading non-bank specialist mortgage lender; offering a range of residential and buy to let mortgages through a network of mortgage brokers. Our 25 year heritage in specialist mortgages means that we understand better than most that no two people are the same. That’s why we create innovative mortgages with lending criteria that gives us the flexibility to meet the needs of the people the high street doesn’t cater for. We use a combination of data and human insight to look beneath the surface, and unlike mainstream lenders, who all too often rely on what the computer says, we use real people to make our decisions. It’s this ‘’head and heart’’ approach which is the key to what we call the #KensingtonDifference.

Very easy to deal with good comms from underwriter

The mortgage advisor was very clear and concise. He dealt with our business very quickly and we were more than happy with Nathan at Haarts in Nottingham.

The broker help desk was sharp and helpful pre-application, but the standout moment was receiving a call directly from the underwriter to discuss the valuation report prior to issuing the formal offer. In the intermediary world, direct communication with an underwriter is extremely rare, so this proactive human touch was incredibly refreshing and kept the case moving fast.
The free BTL valuation is an added bonus that clients love. Fantastic lender support from start to finish!

Thorough but comprehensive underwriter of the application, resulting in the formal Mortgaged Offer being issued promptly

The system is straightforward to use, with an easy application submission process and simple document upload functionality. However, the procuration fees paid to advisers are not as competitive as those offered by many of their competitors.

Regarding the timeline, the process was swift and without complications, and the funds were disbursed promptly.
However, the interest rates were exceptionally high. We found ourselves in a difficult position, having received a Section 21 notice, and we were very fond of our home, so we chose to purchase it. Regrettably, past decisions led to two defaults on my record, both of which are set to expire this December. These defaults were settled a considerable time ago and are marked as satisfied. I have diligently worked to achieve the best possible credit score, and I have never missed a payment. My income is substantial, as is my partner's, and he has an impeccable credit history. While I am appreciative that they approved our mortgage, the rates are simply exorbitant, with no apparent recourse. We fully intend to switch providers in two years to avoid these considerable payments.
