I agree with the people who said they…

I agree with the people who said they wish they could give this bank 0 stars. When someone attempted to scam me by depositing $9500 in my account; they froze my account. They let me open a new account and then froze that one too. They proceeded to insinuate that I was involved in the whole thing!!! The check had the wrong address, wrote on a nonexistent bank branch, and was not endorsed!!!! The whole time, I was treated rudely!! I’ve moved on to a much better bank but will never recommend this bank to anyone!!!

Don't be lured by offers of money to open account

I'm an author, who just received his first royalty check for my latest book. I deposited it in my new KeyBank account, which I was excited to have. The bank immediately locked my account, internet access, debit card, etc. When I inquired why, Matt Cross (Wilton branch) said the check was fraudulent. It's not. They did all of this before any inquiry with me to show proof that the check was legit. It has been quite some time and I cannot get answers or access any of my accounts. Matt Cross (Wilton Branch) says the bank it went to will have a "charge back" soon for the check, meaning it's not real and KeyBank will have to pay for it. But no charge back will ever come because the check was not fraudulent.

Financial nepotism

Key bank has never been consumer friendly. Key bank intentionally caters to the elite private bank high dollar account holders and takes excessive monthly fees and overdraft charges from non private bank accounts and leaves it’s under trained call center minions to tell its customers about how the “posting order” works. They intentionally leave debits off of your account and do not post them until they are likely to overdraft over a weekend or holiday and if you call them out on it, it can get ugly. I see branches closing in my hometown lately so I know that’s a good sign .

DO NOT VISIT THE Kamms Corners Branch…

DO NOT VISIT THE Kamms Corners Branch in Cleveland Ohio! I applied for a Business credit card on 03/02/21. Being that I am current customer. I was told my app couldn't be processed because of ppp loans being higher priority. Its now 07/31/21 and still no answer. No current customer should have to go through this with any company! Disappointed ATM Program

I went to use the atm at key bank in Pearl River today 7/12/2021 and it was very confusing. Too many buttons to pick from. After an unsuccessful try I had to go into the bank for my money. Lucky it wasn’t an emergency on a Sunday where I needed money. Very disappointed in this new atm program. Please review this confusing atm program and get something simple.

Try using their new ATM system

Try using their new ATM system. To get my money out of the ATM from your savings account you have to hit checking twice then saving, it's very confusing to use and I can never get it right. At M&T Bank it's simple, you just hit savings account and you get your money. Pretty soon I'm gonna open savings and checking accounts there and have all my deposits transferred to M&T Bank where their ATM is easy to use. Complaints about this to Key Bank goes on to deaf ears. Good Luck with their ATM'S.

20 years of excellence

I opened my first account with Key Bank when I was 15, though I do not live near a branch currently, it is still my preferred bank. The customer service is top tier alongside American Express. The banking products offered are not as robust or competitive as some of the others out there, but this is a bank that employs people who actually care about you — something not common these days.

Any bank/CU is better than Key

Key had to MAKE UP a reason to hold (for an extended period- 14 days) my wife's large check from her retirement account. The box they "checked" was that they received info that the check presented was fraudulent. I thought they did this because of my wife's ethnicity, and when I asked the branch manager if that was the case he scoffed "It's a shame you would think of your wife like that," and then challenged me to come in and say that to him in person. After speaking to more and more escalating "customer service" people, I got to their Executive response team. She told me that the system forces tellers to choose a reason and the real reason was because of our overdrafts. The irony is, the hold of course caused more overdraft penalties, so they got to make quite a bit of money off a made up hold. I turned them into 2 government agencies and finally was able to close my accounts a month ago. Back when this happened my wife and I were having a hard time financially, and they exasperated the problem rather than help. They lied to hold our funds to punish us further for needing some retirement money to get by.

Be Very Careful With Their Promotions

Opened a KeyBank Checking account with a $500.00 Promotion. The catch was you had to deposit $500 dollars within 60 days. Here I was, having all my payroll checks from a part-time job deposited within 60 days. The checks all totaled well over $500. This was on 9/22/2020..I called the bank after 90 days and they told me it could take up to 6 months to get my promo check. I called again on April the 26rh, 2021, and was told I did not qualify because I did not make ONE deposit of $500 or more.. Seriously? I had all my payroll checks deposited within 60 days. Folks, read the fine print and don't switch banks over promotions that have hidden catches to them. Shame on me but a bigger shame on them for not being an honest bank and telling me after numerous phone calls that all my money was no good for the promotion. Unscrupulous trickery. I immediately had my direct deposit switched to a bank that is more upfront and doesn't take 8 months of direct deposits before telling the customer he didn't meet the one lump deposit of $500.. I was warned by a co-worker not to get involved with Key Bank. I should have listened. Live and learn.

I Paid Off My Auto Loan With KeyBank

I puchased a car and the auto company used Key Bank to finance my auto loan. I was never late and paid off my auto loan in December 2020. Key Bank sent me a letter thanking me for paying off my loan. Also, they sent me a seal on another letter that states that the loan was paid off. But in March they sent me a statement saying I owe them another payment for the loan. Now, they are just adding interest on a loan that is already paid off and they are using a statement payment amount to exhort more money. As of now they are holding my title to my car hostage, when I don't owe them anything. This is truly a bad bank to do business with! Complaints about this bank should be filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I had the worst phone customer service…

I had the worst phone customer service ever in my 34 years of life. I was trying to explain an issue logging in to my mobile app and I was actually at a branch as well. The representative was not professional, she kept talking over me. I explained I was at the branch and the store was having problems too and that I have worked IT and that I'm familiar with basic troubleshooting. I mentioned that I had done everything and I still wasn't able to log in. Well, long story short, had to ask for a supervisor and was placed on hold for over 2 minutes with no refresh. She came on the phone just told me no supervisor available, so I waited another 5-8 min, Sup took the call and just said I had to wait a couple of hours for their system to refresh and try to log in again. She apologized and said she would give the Rep a coaching on what happened.

Key bank should NEVER be trusted with…

Key bank should NEVER be trusted with your money. They wouldn't allow me with legal papers to close an account, their legal wouldn't return my call, and then allowed someone else to close that account. NEVER will I ever stop letting people know how badly they handled the legal end of this!!!!

Worst bank ever

Zero stars isn't an option.... bummer. They are disorganized liars. Signed up with a promotional offer. 3 months later haven't received bonus. I call. After long wait times, and a good 15 or 20 min on the phone with the rep, they tell me it will be deposited by the end of the month. Beginning of next month, still no bonus. Another call. Still long wait times, but this time, the rep says it will be there in two days. Fast forward to today, (4 days later). Still no bonus. I call again. Now they say that I don't qualify because I had had a key account to close previously to the offer. The offer was mailed and addressed to ME! Why would they make an offer they wouldn't honor? Why would two reps tell me the bonus was coming. This bank is a complete s**t show. I will never put another dime in a key bank account. I wouldn't even put YOUR money in a keybank account. You're better off sticking your money under your mattress (not that I'm actually advocating that, find a bank, just not Key)

Taking money from a disabled person

My son had an account at key Bank in Sandy he was in a severe car accident and he had $278 in his account I had called the bank and told them that my son was in a severe accident and he has a TBI and she said okay well we won't be taking any of you know the wonderful service fees and everything from him and can get guardianship so I now have guardianship I called the bank and Sandy that told me they weren't going to do it and his account is mysteriously minus $20 it's pretty sad that a company like this that told me they weren't going to do nothing by taking his service fees out that actually stole money from a disabled person it disgusts . The account is under last name Cassidy.

Very slimy bank

Recently took out a mortgage with key. After taking 4 months for approval the appaised my property for what was 80,000 under true market value. Now that I am dealing with a reputable bank turns out it was 95,000. Keybank 240000 Trustco 335000 7months apart. I initially confronted the appraisor for key who told me he had never seen my property and was only certifieeing the banks numbers. Totally botched to the point of taking pictures marked 3rd bedroom and comping as a 2 bedroom. I have been trying for 6 weeks to get them to waive pre payment penalties for 6 weeks no one has ever returned a call, customer service is impossible and the local branch is useless. Once my new loan is in place I plan on filing a claim against them for the penalty fees along with new filing fees. Can't imagine a worse bank. They have caused unnecessary stress and financial hardship.
