KIN+KIND Moisturizing Conditioner (Unscented)

I’ve been a fan of KIN+KIND’s shampoo for my dog, so I decided to try their Moisturizing Conditioner (Unscented). Having owned dogs for over 40 years and used countless grooming products, I was deeply disappointed with this conditioner.

Unlike most conditioners, which have a creamy texture and spread smoothly, this product felt ineffective. After bathing my retriever with KIN+KIND shampoo and rinsing thoroughly, I applied the conditioner directly from the bottle (batch number 66400121257905, Best By 01/27, purchased April 2025). It lacked any creamy feel, failed to spread evenly, and felt like rubbing bare hands over her fur. I used over half the bottle in one session, yet it provided no conditioning benefits.

Curious, I tested it on my own hair after shampooing. The results were the same: it didn’t spread well, felt like no product was applied, and left my hair knottier than before. I had to rinse it out and use my regular conditioner to detangle.

Suspecting a defective batch, I contacted KIN+KIND, expecting their “satisfaction guarantee” to deliver. Unfortunately, their customer service was disappointing. After multiple emails and waits of over three weeks for responses, they instructed me to return the unused portion for a refund. However, the cost of return shipping ($12–$18 for a $15 product) makes this impractical. Their policy feels like a hollow promise, designed to discourage refund requests rather than ensure customer satisfaction.

This experience has eroded my trust in KIN+KIND. A true satisfaction guarantee should not burden customers with return shipping costs, especially for low-cost items. This practice undermines their commitment to quality and customer care, leaving me skeptical of their marketing claims. Pet owners rely on reviews to choose trusted brands, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend KIN+KIND’s conditioner or their customer service.
