Buyer Beware

After receiving the initial trial kit and it not being what I’d hope I received a full kit which I returned without opening and cancelled my subscription. Not only did I not get a refund but was charged two more times in subsequent months. Hopefully, I have the matter resolved but Buyer Beware! This company is not as is stated.

Terreible customer service!

Terreible customer service!

They do not make it clear that it will cost over $200 for very small sizes. I have tried to cancel twice. The rep was incredibly rude. I would spend more on a company that values their customers!

Frustrated!

Order the sample kit and received it and the next shipment….i did not realize I was paying every month! Called and cancelled my subscription in Sept 25 but just received another shipment. Called to cancel AGAIN and wanted to return the box I recd. I hope/pray that my subscription has now been cancelled FINALLY but I went to return the newest shipment and they wanted to charge me for freight and would not refund the freight that was charged to get this to me! So frustrated! I am so sorry to see Ellen DeGeneres has linked her name to this.

Total Scam! Do not buy from this company!!

Tried canceling online through the chat service...took forever because they kept asking me why I wanted to cancel and offering discounts to stay on. Finally, they said they would cancel. Then got billed again the next month! Can't get through when you call the 800 number...ask for phone number used to order, but I never ordered through my phone, it was online! Can not get through to speak to a person! Very frustrating!! Ended up calling my bank and disputing. Do Not Buy anything from this company!! Total Scam!!

Deceptive Marketing practices

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Kind Science.

I placed what I believed to be a one-time purchase of a product for around $50. At no point during checkout was it made clear in any obvious way that I was enrolling in a subscription program. Shortly afterward, I was charged $96 and then informed that additional charges totaling several hundred dollars were scheduled.

The subscription terms were buried in fine print and not presented transparently. This feels intentionally deceptive.

When I attempted to cancel, the website made it unnecessarily difficult. You cannot easily adjust or modify the “kit,” and the cancellation process is clearly designed to frustrate customers. Calling customer service was no better — the representative was unhelpful and unwilling to resolve the issue in a reasonable way.

This company appears to rely on misleading marketing and subscription traps rather than earning repeat business honestly. I would strongly advise others to read every line of fine print and think twice before ordering.

Steer clear.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM KIND…

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM KIND SCIENCE because they definitely ARE NOT KIND!! I thought I was only purchase a little sample kit only to find out I was automatically enrolled in a subscription program. Tried to cancel it, return their produced over a month ago but am still being charged. I'm out over $180 and they have all their products back but say they can't seem to find it in their warehouse.

Do not believe the hype

Do not believe the hype. I ordered the Ellen DeGeneres’ Kind Science product. I didn’t know that it was a starter kit and paid $59.95 plus tax. I received the shipment not realizing that it had a hidden subscription associated with it. Later I saw an additional $90 taken out of my bank account for a products that I did not order and did not receive. I sent them an email canceling the subscription right away. I had to go to PayPal in order to get a refund and complain. I also got an email from Kind Science telling me that I owe them $180 for a product that I did not order and I did not receive. Be aware of these products advertised, they have hidden subscriptions. I tried the products that were in the starter kit and they were not that good.

What a scam

What a scam. I signed up to trial the products for about 60. I got mini sized products to try it. Suddenly I am subscribed, receive a tiny box of products and am told that I subscribed to receive this small box every 3 months for 370. Seems like I am not the only one who fell for this. I guess when you put a celebrity's name on it the public assumes it is legit. This is not legi.

You can't return with out jumping…

You can't return with out jumping through ALL kinds of hoops, tried to do on line and ended up with an additional 55 $ charge that didn't help with anything.
They where very quick with taking the money out but it looks like I will have to wait up to 3 weeks to get my refund.

Absolutely the worst company

Absolutely the worst company. Buyer beware, once you sign up for the trial period for $59.99 they will continue to charge you the full amount ($275) for the next three months regardless if you cancel. This was explained in subsequent calls to through their chat and also phone customer service.

Update: 2/26/26 - I filed a complaint with the BBB and also reported the company to Shop who I provide payment through. I was actually credited from Kind Science for those last two payments. Great but no reason a consumer should have to go through that process for a credit.

misinformation and horrible service

Cancelling this subscription is horrible. I was on the on-line chat for over 40 minutes. Question after question until I had enough. I agree with other reviews. They are extremely misleading with subscription terms. They advertise a 90 day subscription which is actually a 90 day supply which they charge you over $100 for every single month! Then I was still charged after my subscription was "canceled". They say I owe two more months of payments. Why? I only signed up for a one time 90 day supply. Rip-off. Don't get involved with this.

BE CAREFUL TO READ THE FINE PRINT

This product package is useful but I could never use all of the ingredients within a month.

This is the fine print. If you don’t want any more and try to cancel, you’ll be charged for two remaining products.
This is the weasel language,
So, if you want to cancel, tell them that the products caused you a swollen itchy rash.

Deluxe Kit
I understand that one month after my first order is shipped, and then every three months thereafter, I will automatically receive a full size supply of Kind Science® 6-Piece Deluxe Kit and will be charged 3 monthly payments of $79.95, plus $4.99 shipping and handling charges and applicable sales tax, for each shipment until I cancel. I can choose to easily cancel by visiting and managing my kit or by calling (800) 210-3379.

Kind Science’s “AUTOSHIP” scam

I replied to their initial offer a year ago. Before I put in my payment info I noticed the AUTOSHIP box was suddenly checked. I unchecked it only to receive a shipment a month later and a charge of $89.95. I’d barely used the original product I received. The distributor was Guthy Renker, I called to complain and they just kept reading me the script: I could return it right away for a refund but both shipping charges ($25 total) were coming out of my pocket. The product is not great and the Massachusetts BBB website is full of complaints about Kind Science auto shipping. What a scam. Do NOT use this company. Back to Dermalogica for me.

BUYER BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE!! Like everyone else is finding out, this is a total scam! Do not sign up for this product, it’s total crap and they will bill you a large amount of money. The only thing worse than the product is the way that customer service treats you! Avoid at all cost!

Deceptive Billing & Scam Tactics

I ordered the trial pack from Kind Science as advertised and was charged $79.81. Thirty days later, without my consent or authorization, I received a credit card notification for an additional charge of $106.42. I did not request any additional products and was unknowingly signed up for a monthly subscription.

I spent a significant amount of time on chat demanding a refund and cancellation of this scam subscription. After being passed back and forth between three different representatives, I was refunded $79.81, which was incorrect. I clearly stated the charge that needed to be refunded was $106.42.

The representative assured me the remaining $26.61 would be credited back to my card within 3–5 business days and told me the product had already shipped and that I could keep or dispose of it at my convenience.

This is deceptive, misleading, and unacceptable business practice. Once the remaining amount posts to my credit card, I will be contacting my credit card company to block any future charges from this company.

Do not buy into this scam. Stay far, far away. You have been warned.
