I had difficulty finding a legal representative to help with my complex and unusual issue with HCPC. But as soon as I found Stephen McCaffrey I sensed that I was in good safe hands, and so it turned out. He drafted a 'Reflective Statement' which was rather different from my own best effort. I am very glad that I carefully followed his sage advice.

Stephen literally saved my life.

I was signposted to Stephen by a colleague in Nov '22, during a very difficult period in my career. I found myself consumed with dark thoughts, isolated and afraid. Stephen worked with me and slowly but surely formulated a plan not to just to fight my case and win, but to build me back up bit by bit so as to prepare me to face external scrutiny and present with confidence to panels where this was necessary. Having him by my side, gave me the confidence to fight what I was facing. I don't quite know what I would've done without him. There is doing your job, and then there is making a difference. I wanted continuity for my Fitness to Practice case so I have used Catherine from the start (3 years). The advice she gave for my preparation of evidence, I’m glad to say that I do not regret taking it and from the outcome it was the right choice!

Catherine is truly gifted at her job. I instructed her from the beginning of SWE's investigation against me and she has had my back right from the start. Following on from my FtP hearing in June 2023, I once again sought counsel for a review hearing after a six month suspension. I thought about going it alone but I am very glad I didn't. I had to prepare for this hearing in the same way as the previous, and Catherine gave me the tools to do this. I was guided through the process and the GDC could not argue when they viewed the work I had done on remediation, reflection and insight in which Catherine had set for me.
