Good experience
I have been a member of the Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Region for 40+ years and it has usually been a good experience.
As the years progress, I sense that staffing is harder to fill so it takes longer to get appointments, and the staff feel a little more rushed.
The KP app used to be pretty bad but much improved now.
Kaiser is best hospital for me and my…
Kaiser is best hospital for me and my family I never had complain of anything but just this morning I took my husband for lab test the technician who servers us he was so rude he made us have a sit but then he went to serve other people I understand that maybe these people were waiting before us so we waited, but when he came to attend my husband, he was rude, I usually don’t write negative comments about people, but this guy he soiled my Sunday he asked me to move. I was standing in between my husband and him. He didn’t say politely he was like yelling at me Excuse me, excuse me, and everybody was looking at me. I was so embarrassed.
Kaiser charges more than the estimates they provide
I have been a member of Kaiser Permanente for 9 months. Every time I call member services in advance to find out what the cost of a certain proceedure will be, I am given one cost estimate, but then, after the proceedure, I get billed for more than the estimate provided to me. I am writing this review after my latest incident. I called member services TWICE to get a cost estimate on a sleep study and was told it would cost me $239. They told me I could go on to my kp.org account and use the cost estimator calculator to check, and that tool also gave me an estimate of $239. However, when I received the bill, they charged me $513. I called member services to contest this charge, and they submitted a grievance for me, but when I received a response to my grievance, they denied my claim stating that the Evidence of Coverage shows a copay of $10 and deductable of $2,000. The denial is extremely unreasonable considering that I called member services multiple times and checked their calculator in advance of the proceedure to get an estimate but then be charged more.
This experience doesn't include previous incidents when I was told that certain labs would cost one amount, but then I was charged another.
I am so tired of dealing with their bait and switch tactics. If Kaiser Permanente was not the only choice provided to me by my employer, I would definitely choose a different health insurance. I've never had so many financial questions come up with other medical insurances and institutions.
Lab attendant Rebeca is bad really the worse.
Went to the Kaiser location in Ashburn. My son pediatrician is amazing. Went to get lab work done for my baby today, that lab attendant Rebeca was literally don’t know what she was doing. She doesn’t care about people at all. Full or arrogance. Poke my baby 3,4 times with needle and still wasn’t able to draw blood. And then was giving attitude on top of that.
Excellent medical care
Excellent medical care; many offices in Atlanta GA area; inhouse pharmacy; tele-visits available; large number of PCPs and specialists to choose from; Medicare advantage plan low cost and comprehensive. I received a shot from LPN Taja Carruth, who was kind, caring and competent.
I had an appointment with Dr. Kimberly Petrick
I had an appointment with Dr. Kimberly Petrick in the 10th Street, Santa Monica, CA clinic. Nurse Iesha was very professional, knowledgeable and courtesy. Dr. Petrick, whom I saw for first time after my original physician, Dr. Bhalla, left Kaiser in February 2025, was very caring. She went my medical history and explained to me in plain term what I need to do to keep my health in good shape. She is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The overall experience in 7/17/2025 was very positive. I felt that I was treated as someone they really care about.
This company only seems to care about their shareholders.…
This company only seems to care about their shareholders. They don’t care about giving you appointments in less than two months. They have no scruples and changing your appointments without telling you first. They have no scruples in changing your doctor without telling you. I don’t understand why they even take notes in their computer because they don’t read them. But I do. Their ophthalmology department is a joke and has screwed me over so many times and only three short months that I am ready to leave Kaiser for good. I like my ophthalmologist and that’s about it. This is my third try with Kaiser and it gets worse and worse as time goes on. They don’t care about the patient. They only care about the bottom line. Everyone here writing these reviews, I agree with them.
Kaiser refuses prescription coverage from specialist
When you have a very specific disability, and there is one specialist for it, and that specialist is out of network, I expect that we will pay in full for the specialist. That's expected. When Kaiser refuses to pay for medications because the prescribing specialist is out of network, that's not OK. There aren't other choices, the medication is necessary for basic living. Never Kaiser.
Just another pissed off kaiser customer…
Just another pissed off kaiser customer moment.
When you boil it all down...its real simple.
Insurance companys that provide the in-house health care should be banished.
The staff that set appointments...
Dumber than a bucket of rocks.
Over all; im sick of the unethical microminded criminals that run this scam they call kaiser healthcare.
Fact:
In the future; Kaiser will be on the wrong side of history.
Co-pays increase each time you make an appointment even if they mis-diagnose you over and over.
What a racket!
They wanted to perform 2 MRI appointments back to back for a snapped bicept tendon. $70 per.
Thats $210 in copays and they still have not even done anything yet except make me sit in traffic, burn gas and waste a ton of time.
HOURS trying to reach support
I have spent HOURS trying to reach Medical Records (no one ever answers the phone) or sign my child up online to access the records myself. Eight days and countless phone calls later, several tickets submitted and literal hours on hold, I am no closer to getting a copy of the visit or lab results. They just transfer you from department to department, IF someone answers the phone, but no one actually helps
Find Another Insurance Company
I have been a member of Kaiser for years. I used to love this company. Now, it is like paying luxury payments for socialized medicine. You cannot get an appointment for over 2 months. You can not find your doctors. It is a mess. They should be ashamed. If I could find the right place to bounce to I would.
Doctors do not care, they want you in and out.
Got Kaiser insurance in 2024 - went to the Doctor for my symptoms, she chalked it up to being a woman in her mid 30's. Went to a different doctor - she ran the correct bloodwork and then IGNORED THE RESULTS, told me everything is normal. Claimed she spoke to a specialist who also said my results were normal.
I then paid out of pocket to see a Doctor outside of Kaiser - in ONE fifteen minute appointment, she listened, called for bloodwork, and found the issue. But don't worry, Kaiser, everything was "Normal" - It was NOT NORMAL.
They do NOT listen or care AT ALL.
Please do not getting insurance thru…
Please do not getting insurance thru Kaiser permanente. They do not have an ethics for medical field. All they care is money and more test to make more money. I’ve a symptom of colon cancer. But they told me I have to do a lot of test and even though my screening is have to wait for couple months. Oh really by then if I’ve a cancer what if it’s spreading who is responsible. And will saying too late because you’re not scheduling for check up. And Marie the register nurse are very rude attitude when help out patients keep asking the same questions I’ve answered on the previous phone call. And telling you to go to emergency seem like doesn’t want to deal with you. Remember we’re the one that pay for your salary at work. Without us you’re out of job. SO DO NOT GET INSURANCE thru KAISER PERMANENTE
Patricia Brooks Review of Kasena Eroraha
Kasena Eroraha is my physical therapist at the Baldwin Hills Kaiser location. I got my life back after working with Kasena. He is very knowlegeable, encouraging and supportive. All of my issues were taken care of and my quality of life has improved beyond my expectations. He treated me from January 23, 2025 - June 24, 2025. I highly recommend him!
Too-big-to-care
Kaiser is great for common problems but struggles with complex and rare illnesses. For years, my doctors failed to identify my illness, and even told me there was nothing seriously wrong with me. The health impacts of the delay in diagnosis have been significant. Now, Kaiser is making it incredibly burdensome to get FMLA certifications so that I can continue working. I spend hours on the phone, only to have my certification requests ignored or changed, despite that my doctors agree with the certifications I request. I've been told there is a committee that makes decisions about FMLA certifications based on standards of care, but my illness is so rare that it has no established standard of care. Essentially, a bunch of folks are sitting around making FMLA decisions based on arrogant guesswork rather than an understanding of the true health burdens members face. I have filed grievances and waited for months for replies. Kaiser is so big that it seems it can ignore members. Consider another insurer if your needs are complex.
Appointments are rushed
Appointments are rushed, doctors are late and then end appts prematurely, and they’re generally stressed and dismissive. There’s not partnership or feeling like the actually care about you - just a machine, in and out.
Dr. Katz and His Surgical Team Saved My Eyes
Dr. Katz is an awesome eye surgeon. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Katz and his team for the amazing cataract surgery I received at Kaiser Permanente Skyline Ophthalmology in Salem, Oregon. Thanks to Dr. Katz, Melissa, Kandace, Bri, Christy, Jeff, and everyone else who participated in so many ways to the total success of my surgeries, the vision in my eyes was changed from virtual blindness to absolute perfection! This is the most professional team imaginable. They have so much error checking running that an error is virtually impossible. There are never any guarantees regarding surgery outcomes, of course, none, so I was prepared to accept the worst since so much depends on the condition of the patient, and I brought to Dr. Katz some of the most difficult, formidable cataract cases - extremely hard, dense cataracts through which I could see hardly anything but lights. My vision was such that, later on, when Dr. Katz told me during surgery to "look at the three lights", I saw four lights. From the beginning, the team's reaction to the challenge my case presented was nothing less than amazing. Melissa tenaciously refused to give up on me. She drug out machine after machine after machine, until she was miraculously able to excitedly announce that she had managed to achieve "rock solid!" (her happy words) measurements on the refraction characteristics of my eyes. Seriously, Melissa performed a miracle that day. Trusting in and relying on Melissa's fine work, Dr. Katz used his tremendous expertise to carefully select the perfect replacement lenses for my eyes. On the days of my surgeries (2 weeks apart), Kandace and Bri (nurses) skillfully prepared me. Bri gave me an IV in my hand, hitting the vein on the first try so expertly that I felt nothing but a pin prick, which surprised me because those have always been quite painful on past occasions at other providers. She and Christy also administered several eye drops, and engaged me in pleasant, personable conversation, which completely relaxed me. Then Dr. Katz told me what to expect during the surgery, and answered my last-minute questions. Toward the end of my preparation, another nurse Jeff, who is also on the surgical team, arrived in my room and continued the pleasantries as he joked with Bri that she "could be a flight attendant", to which we all had a good laugh as they rolled me into the operating room. After still more error checking among the team, my surgery commenced. Dr. Katz, who is in his prime, brought to bear on my intractable, extremely hard cataracts all of his amazing abilities. THANKS to his brilliant, tenacious work, sure hands and foot, superb training, many years of experience, and awesome support team, the vision in my eyes was transformed from being almost blind to virtually perfect sight! There truly are no words to fully describe my miraculous surgeries. They were an astounding success, made possible by a gifted, dedicated surgeon and his support team, and I truly am eternally grateful to Dr. Katz and his whole team - including Annette and all of those at Skyline Ophthalmology I failed to mention, for working tirelessly to provide healthcare second to none. They all deserve to feel very, VERY proud of themselves.
Dr. ELENA LEJANO HETTS MD at Kaiser in Anaheim
This doctor does not like to refer you to any specialists. She also has an ego and does not listen to your needs. This makes it very difficult to get the specialty care that you need. It took a trip to the ER to finally see a specialist, highly recommended by the ER. I don't know why it's so hard. I wouldn't recommend her.
Been with Kaiser Oregon forever
Been with Kaiser Oregon forever. We are so lucky to have such wonderful insurance and caring providers. I love Kaiser.
The Kaiser Koolau Clinic in Kaneohe is awesome…
The Kaiser Koolau Clinic in Kaneohe is wonderful. I have had most recently an orthopedic issue and through the years other regular checkups and minor issues and from the receptionist to nurses, doctors, physician assistants they are great. I have to acknowledge the wound nurses and Iris Castro from PT. They are caring, patient, listen, explain and they are the best.
