“Buy a Range Rover for vanity not for sanity”

“Buy a Range Rover for vanity, not for sanity.” Unfortunately, after my experience, that saying rings very true.

If you are considering buying a Range Rover, I would strongly recommend thinking again.

I have owned mine for around six months and it has spent more than half of that time in the garage.

It went into Stratstone Milton Keynes on 27th May for what was supposed to be a one-day job. It is now the end of August, over three months later, and I still don’t even have a confirmed date for when I will get my vehicle back.

It has been issue after issue after issue. Every time you think you are getting somewhere, something else seems to go wrong or another delay appears.

This isn’t a cheap vehicle. You buy a Range Rover Sport expecting a premium product and a premium ownership experience. Instead, I have spent more than half of my ownership without the vehicle.

Three months to deal with something originally booked in for one day — and still no confirmed return date — is frankly ridiculous.

So, to anyone reading reviews because you’re thinking about buying a Range Rover: DON’T.

However good they look and however nice they are when they’re working, none of that matters when the vehicle spends months sitting at a dealership.

“Buy a Range Rover for vanity, not for sanity.” I wish I’d listened.

I certainly won’t be buying another Range Rover and as soon as I get it back I’ll be selling it whilst losing roughly £5,000 worth of depreciation from it just sitting in the garage.

I will update this review when I eventually get the vehicle back with the final amount of time it spent off the road.

Massive claim incoming.

Brand New 2024 Range Rover Autobiography. BUYER BEWARE!

We bought a Brand new 2024 Range Rover Autobiography. It's been in the shop 8 times (excluding services), for a total of 61 days - and counting. It's been in the shop now since 7/31, and they can't fix it....

Land Rover claims it's not a LEMON!

Buyer beware. Terrible company. Putting profits ahead of customer satisfaction.

My car was stolen in 2025

My car was stolen in 2025, I recovered it and paid to have it repaired….. Land Rover sent me an invite for a security update. I arrived to the local garage who said the booking existed but there is no update avaliable. The garage gave me the phone number for ‘Client Care’ at Land Rover. Who promptly called me a liar and said it was a ‘bogus site’. They have since ignored every call and email. Clearly not when the garage has the booking on their system! I can still go on LR website now where it says ‘security update - doc’…… what a clown show, no wonder they get a bad reputation. The franchise garage was great (Bristol) so don’t want to bring them into this complaint.

2024 Discovery Sport issues in Cambridge

We have a 2024 Discovery Sport. Our first experience was buying it from Marshalls JLR in Cambridge. This was a bad experience. We had to threaten legal action to get them to fit a tow bar that we had paid for. The car has broken down twice this year. FIrst the alternator drive band broke, then a connection to the fuel pump came disconnected. Both manufacturing errors. The roadside assistance from Land Rover has been excellent. On both occasions a van turned up in hours. The first fault was fixed, but the fuel pump could not be sorted at the roadside. The roadside assistance guy did really well. First he advised us not to send the car to Marshalls in Cambridge because they are widely known to be useless and have a four month wait for repairs. He sent the car to Taylors Service Centre in Dunmow. They were excellent, diagnosed the fault and repaired it quickly. They lent us a good Evoque. Also the roadside guy arranged taxis to pick up our children, and get us to Dunmow. All this was done without charge.
The conclusion; Be very careful which Land Rover service centre you use. JLR Roadside assistance is excellent; this compensates to some extent for the fact that the cars are not very reliable.

My discovery sport 2026 drivers side…

My discovery sport 2026 drivers side window wouldn’t close,I rang JLR Roadside assistance at 11.40 I was told the technician would arrive at my house between 1-3 pm and would get a phone call 20 minutes before arrival, I received a text to confirm and select the link to track it but there wasn’t no link on the text?
I waited until 2.45 and rang them back and was told it would be 3.20pm
John the technician rang me he was on his way when he arrived he was very helpful and ran a calibration and fixed it in 20 minutes

Well 120k on a new land rover defenda…

Well 120k on a new land rover defenda and it goes wrong
So I took out full service plan all the extra bits you could possibly have. It goes wrong and I wait 9 hours then some child turns up with a citron c1 and demands 500 deposit at which point I tell him to stick his car and mine has been road side and not getting collected for 26 hours I honestly thought go for a land rover with all the xtra and all the cover possible BUT when you brake down don’t expect the help you need
Your are promised calls that never happen and are lead up the garden path all day
Worst experience ever would have had better cover with rac than this lot of muppets
Don’t bother spending your money on a land rover or any of there added service packages or warranty coz when you need help you will not get it
It’s not my dealership that’s left me down it’s the land rover assist run by the AA so just remember that just as you have a very expensive car no one in the aa or land rover assist give a monkeys about you
`BETTER OFF BUYING ANYTHING OTHER THAN A LANDROVER DEFENDER landrover customer services are as awful as they come

Warning for anyone thinking of a Land Rover

Never again. Land Rover won't tell you that they have a major design fault with one of the most popular vehicles that they sell in Australia. The result is a timing chain issue which means that you will be lucky to get 10 years from the car or even less than 100,000km. For those that don't know, this means that the car is undriveable because, from Land Rover themselves, doing so risks irreversible damage to the engine. If that happens, you're up for $20k to $20k for a new engine.

The sting, all they will do is offer to investigate the issue at around 4 x the quoted price for other mechanics to perform the same work. So rather than offer to assist their "customers" who bought a dud product from them. they still plan to profit from it further.

Just remember that this is the company that you are buying a car from if you choose to go ahead and purchase a Land Rover (or a Jaguar). Nasty company from my experience.

Range Rover Sport Unsafe and Terrible Service

Even the engineers at the head office refuse to acknowledge that the vehicle's software system may contain errors or encounter unforeseen issues that were not anticipated during development.
I am a software engineer and totally aware all software and firmware system might have some errors!!!!

My concern goes far beyond the damage to the vehicle. This is a serious safety issue. If a tailgate can unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in motion, how can I feel confident driving it? I no longer feel safe behind the wheel of this vehicle.

In my opinion, the dealership's handling of this matter was extremely disappointing. After three weeks, I received no meaningful investigation results or logical explanation—only repeated insistence that the vehicle had no malfunction. It appears that acknowledging a defect would also mean accepting responsibility for the repair costs which they told me is $1400.

Purchasing this Range Rover Sport is one of my biggest automotive regrets. I switched from BMW expecting a premium ownership experience, but instead I encountered poor customer service and a complete lack of accountability. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Land Rover to anyone.

Dealership Manager Came to me and told me: "You did not bought the car from us so that is what we can do if you want take the car to dealership you bought and they made money on this car so they can help you more" !!!!

It was the oddest comment I received from a high-end car brand which I though I have service all across North America equali !!!!!

I stand behind every statement I have made here. Everything described above is true to the best of my knowledge, and I am willing to discuss my experience with anyone who has questions.

LR Discovery Sport 2015 stays in the garage not on the road

LR Discovery Sport 2015, had the rear disc pads replaced, oil leak from rear axle, can't remember the technical term, leak from the gearbox very expensive to repair, needs particular oil and still messes up. Front suspension arms replaced, busch worn out, timing chain replaced, now oil leaking, can't use it. Waste of money and time. Crap parts, terrible build. Won't go near one again, spends more time in the garage then on the road.
Tata won't be able to fix these things, going the same way as other British makes. Watch out Aston Martin.

I had a recall in for my Evoke 2011 for…

I had a recall in for my Evoke 2011 for the steering bolts, it had the done & when retrieving the car it came up with a warning light of battery fault even though since I’ve had the car I’ve had no issues what so ever, I just thought it may of been low
One I got onto the motorway I’d noticed the tracking was way out,
I called them & explained
That said I could bring it back for them to correct & the reasons why they didn’t do it. Because they said they couldn’t due to some spaces on the wheels, which I thought was very contradictory.
But of the inconvenience of paying another £20 for another curiosity car,
The next day was weekend & came to start the car & all the dash came up like a Christmas tree problem & after probably & the car went into limp mode.
Waiting till Monday to call them they said they couldn’t due see to this matter but it would be a month later as they offered me the 17th of August. More livid at this point 🤬🤬🤬
Never again il deal with those
This was the Landrover in Nelson
Disgusting the way I was treated I think

Avoid.... like an epensive mistress, costs you a fortune and you know its bad for you

I bought a 2019 rrsport autobio, had it for two years , it was 4 yrs old when i bought it, nothing but trouble, spent more time in the garage than with me, confortable yes, looks the part yes but extreemly unreliable, fault lights on the dash constantly, my mechanic kept saying, oh thats just another sensor, brake fluid issues, had to get the rear diff seals changed (£££) ..... if only LR put as much effort, time and skill into its engines instead of its comfort featurers. I tradeded it in against a new Land Crusier, lost about 15k but the best decision ever!

Extremely disappointing diplomatic sales and ownership experience

Summary: I ordered a Land Rover through the diplomatic sales programme, but the vehicle was left waiting inside a container at Greek customs/port for more than five months. After major stress, extra costs and my own efforts to prevent the vehicle from being sold through customs enforcement, I finally received it in February 2026. Then, at only 3,900 km, the nearly new car failed with a serious electrical fault. No replacement vehicle has been provided so far. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this brand or this process.
I am serving in a NATO assignment abroad and purchased a Land Rover Discovery Sport PHEV through Land Rover Diplomatic / Capurro Diplomatic Sales.
I placed the order in May 2025 and was told that delivery would be around September 2025. I was advised that sending the car to Greece would make the process easier. Their website also gives the impression that customs clearance can be handled for diplomatic customers. However, the vehicle was left waiting inside a container at Greek customs/port for more than five months.
During this period, I repeatedly warned that something was wrong, but I did not feel that the matter was taken seriously enough. Eventually, I learned that the vehicle was at risk of entering a customs enforcement/sale process. I had to personally learn and follow customs procedures in a country where I do not speak the language or even read the alphabet, contact customs and port officials myself, and coordinate the process.
The port/storage charges reached approximately €28,000. Capurro paid this amount because they had previously accepted responsibility for port charges, and I appreciate that. However, this does not change the fact that the process was extremely stressful and damaging.
I finally received the car in February 2026. At only around 3,900 km, the car showed a red critical warning: “Stop safely. Electrical fault detected.” The authorised service diagnosed a DC converter fault. The part is not available locally and must be ordered from abroad. I am again without my vehicle, and no replacement vehicle has been provided so far.
There are also other quality issues: the front “V” badge fell off, the remote app works unreliably, and the keyless entry system is unstable. People have even jokingly asked me whether I bought the car from Temu, which says a lot about how disappointing the quality has felt.
Because of the long delivery delay, I had to buy another temporary car, as I had just started my assignment abroad and had no practical way to commute in Crete without a vehicle. After finally receiving my Land Rover, I sold that temporary car. Now, because my Land Rover may again be unavailable for a long time, I may have to buy another temporary vehicle.
Due to the delays, rental cars, buying and selling temporary cars, and now another long repair period, I have lost and continue to lose thousands of euros.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise people to stay away from this brand and this process.
