Purchased LEC CF200W MK2 Chest Freezer. Already in need of repair within only 4 years of purchasing. Previous deep freezer lasted over 20 years?! Poor after sales support, would not purchase another LEC appliance judging by the low quality and short life span designed into their products (planned obsolescence). Not a very green/environmentally friendly company if they are not designing and building a product that is going to last, in doing so, reduce waste etc. Still waiting to see if this appliance can be repaired, it has been over a week of waiting, only to be told that I have contacted the incorrect dept!? No link or help to direct me to the correct dept. So had to re-contact them to prompt them to send my enquiry to the correct dept?! Will update/change this review once issue has been resolved, or not?

The Lec fridges we purchased are so problematic and it is impossible to get an engineer out to actually fix the issue. Emails get ignored and no one seems to care even when you are telling them that an electrical burning smell is coming from the fridge. The standard response is someone will be with you within 5 working days and most of the time that's not true either. Yet again a fridge we can't use and do not trust!

We bought a LEC CLA 60 Gas cooker 8 years ago.

Early on we noticed the top oven didn't go beyond Mark 1. An engineer came and told us this is how it it and is not faulty. Then we found the big oven was not accurate. I bought a thermometer and discovered the oven is 2 gas marks out but not always. So sometimes food is underdone sometimes burnt.

Then parts started to fail . One of the shelf support brackets in the oven is welded together and does not allow shelves to be inserted. Both pan supports on the top of the stove have broken and attempts to glue them have failed. This is a bit dangerous. The seal around the top oven became unstuck and has fallen off completely. The automatic lighter failed and to light the oven is now a two person job. One to hold the knob and the other person on the floor with head in the oven. The silver covering on the knobs is coming away leaving sharp remnants leading to cut hands.

I am sure the cooker is designed to last more than 8 years and these faults are exceptional and we have just been unlucky. The cooker is out of guarantee but I feel we are owed some compensation if we are to get these faults repaired. I have written to you before more than once over rhe years but with no luck but the situation is becoming dangerous.

After fully defrosting and cleaning my under the counter LEC freezer before a holiday, on return, the door refused to close. The freezer is only just out of extended warranty. I was quoted £179 callout charge for someone to come and look at it. That is more than the cost of buying a new freezer! How on earth can they justify that as a callout charge? I will not be buying LEC again!

LEC medical Fridge has extremely poor customer services and technical department. Our Medical Fridge is under warranty and it took us 4 weeks and numerous calls to get the fridge fixed which is still not fixed causing huge issues at the our practice.

Under-counter Lec fridge-freezer, bought 3/11/17 and rarely used, as a spare, has completely stopped working. Used for less than 1 year equivalent. Average life of these appliances is apparently 12-20 years.

After my experience with dangerous fire risk 3 year old LEC fridge and their “customer Service” and now also having reviewed Samsung, Bosch and Beko, I’m feeling frustrated that I have established that all of them appear to manufacture goods which have a life expectancy of 18 months to 3 years therefore not of a suitable merchantable quality and rendering their goods not fit for purpose and what is relevant is how that manufacturer (if you can call them that!!) deals with the customer. In the case of all those mentioned above - in response to the review on your website giving the CUSTOMER the standard stock reply of telling them to contact them by email and they will then investigate (having previously already given that PAYING CUSTOMER the rude intimidating fob off). Customers then too often report to you that they HAVE then emailed the manufacturer only to be ignored and not had a response. Eg LEC soon responded to my email they had ignored…. AFTER I joined your site and I gave my review. I then responded to the email they sent me giving all of the necessary information … to which they are now obviously ignoring. Having reviewed all above manufacturers it is obvious that this ploy is employed by all of them. I am getting very tired now burning the midnight oil into the early hours sifting through zillions of reviews for each manufacturer. It seems obvious to me that From now on the strategy that I now need to employ to tackle this to reduce the mental stress is to:
1 Only review 1 and 2 star reviews to establish life expectancy of their products
2 just pay attention to what the customer has to say about how they have been dealt with by the manufacturers before they made the review and then after they have responded to the stock email from the manufacturer asking them to get in touch so that they can “investigate” ie did they actually do anything to put matters right and show the customer any respect that they deserve - after all EXACTLY WHO IS IT THAT IS KEEPING THAT MANUFACTURER IN BUSINESS AND EXACTLY WHO IS PAYING THEIR WAGES!!! Still living in hope that I CAN find a manufacturer whose products have a life expectancy that IS of merchantable quality and who shows their CUSTOMERS THE RESPECT THAT THEY DESERVE. Kind regards to Trustpilot and all those who take the time and trouble to report a review AFTER problems with the product and especially a few years down the line after the product has not lasted for the expected life expectancy PAID FOR. Can 40 year old lec fridge freezer be repaired? It has stopped cooling/freezing but the light is on. any ideas?

We bought a LEC fridge 2 years ago and it froze everything in the fridge compartment, even with the thermostat on 6C. It took them 4 months and several engineer visits to sort out the issue, a replacement. Now we have just found the fridge seal has split. DO NOT BYE!!!

Fridge freezer failed outside warranty. After 2 years the compressor became very noisy then 3 months later it stopped working altogether. Just after a large Sainsbury's delivery!

Well what can I say absolutely devastated my Lec fridge has stopped working after only 19months rang this morning to ask as I was told if I rang and registered it ,I got an extra year's warranty, but they said this morning that's not the case ,they really wasn't any help whatsoeverthey could even book an engineer as they're not taking any bookings. I'm so upset that it's broke as I bought Lec as my last fridge was Lec and last 12years. I'm so so upset as it cost me £169.99 which is not cheap and has left me well out of pocket as a lone person with the current crisis money is tight and I haven't got that sort of money spare or to hand .

Purchased a fridge, retailer went out of business. Contacted LEC to explain this and to explain I can not pursue my consumer protection rights.
LEC was unwilling to help. I would have thought LEC would offer a repair, or exchange or part refund, however they were unwilling to help.
Essentially, LEC made a product that failed, unfit for purpose and not merchantable quality and then do nothing to help with their faulty product.

We received the freezer we ordered from Lec promptly and in good condition. The 2 men who placed it in our kitchen were exceptionally polite and helpful and worthy of an excellent review. Their names were Josh H and Asher. An asset to Lec.

I recently bought a Lec fridge freezer TFL55148W it has a super freeze switch which has a 0 on the top of the switch and a | mark on the bottom but no instructions for on or off its currently on the | mark but the outside of the freezer drawers have a film of ice on them I am concerned as I don't want to waste electricity.

My parents bought an under counter fridge from LEC on the 1960s and it's still working it keeps things lovely and cold and I'm very pleased with it

Lec undercounter freezer seems fine . I doubt it will last as long as the old one seems less substantial. I guess with most appliances and vehicles we will find durabilty reduced though energy use is less. My multipoint hot waster heaters last 25 years condensing alternatives use less energy, probably half the life; I hope the same will not be the case with refrigerators.

My parents had a rather bulky Lec fridge in the 50’s and it lasted for many years! Because of this we have recently bought our 2nd pair of matching under counter fridge and freezer. The first set lasted for well over 20 years!! We are more than pleased with our latest purchases the motors are so very quiet. The excellent lights in the fridge mean I can find anything just at a glance. Plenty of room in both items. Well done Lec!!

Unfortunately the fridge freezer I purchased was faulty, the freezer is fine but despite a replacement thermostat the fridge is still freezing everything.
