TL:DR absolutely support your independent gaming stores.... Always...
I ordered some GW stuff, a codex(book) and a model. The codex arrived no problem, the model ended up late. And you know what, that had nothing to do with legion forge, it was the supplier that messed it. So no issue from me at all. I was always updated to any issues, informed why.
When I picked up my model, I got some honest feedback re: undercoat GW Vs 3rd party, plus glues, paints (been out the hobby for a while so nice to hear neutral feedback.) Genuine staff that seemed to give a damn about all hobby's and tabletop gaming. An independent store gives a damn, they will fight all corners because this is their baby. Affiliation is nice but theirs always an agenda, but an independent store values the person that walks in the door regardless. Respect right there.
Not gamed there due to my being out the hobby, but got the impression it was a good place to find other like-minded people and re-learn, or even learn something new.
