Extremely dangerous skiing conditions…
Extremely dangerous skiing conditions in les Arcs on March 19.
Going down the Aiguille Rouge (Arandielles) without too much visibility due to fog and snow, at one point there is a sign placed on the left advising to turn right but without closing the path ahead.
Well I thought that the slope continued ahead and fell badly and broke a bone in the shoulder. The fact that it was not properly signed was evidenced as during the 10 minutes I waited for the carrier, 15 more skiers continued down the path without such bad fate as I had myself. In fact, all of them had to get back up to the main slope carrying their skis on their shoulders.
I have been skiing throughout Europe for over 40 years and have never encountered such a poorly indicated dangerous slope. I am sure that more people had accidents in that place specially under bad weather conditions.
Since I live in Spain and have to get back to treat my injuries, I did not have the chance to file a formal complaint.
I hope they get to make Les Arcs a safer place to ski.
