LexisNexis - a.scam company?

This company keeps pestering me for personal information purporting I have an unclaimed pension. I have asked them 8 TIMES to stop harassing me and told them I have no unclaimed pensions. Still they persist. Be very careful as it looks like a scam.

I received 2 letters from LexisNexis…

I received 2 letters from LexisNexis Risk Solutions to my new address advising me that one of my pension employers had "lost contact" with me and that I should follow a link and fill out a form with them - I have not and don't plan to get in touch with LexisNexis. I hadn't yet changed my address with the pension company since moving but I do have post redirection and have received my annual statement from them with no issue. This feels very suspicious. I have contacted my pension company to advise of this.

Invasion of privacy

I am sick to death of the unwarranted invasive soft searches on my credit files.

They sell Tolley's text books

They sell Tolley's text books, and I places and order three weeks ago. There is no tracking, communication, I don't know when to pay for the order. Do I have to pay at first and they will send it afterword? I have no idea. Customer service doesn't exist, the phone number is only for decoration. I contacted the company few times, they sent an email to the sale team,I left voice message, I sent emails etc. I was planning to sit exams in November, and I have no idea whether they even processed my order. Tolley's books are the best on the market, that's why I wanted them. Now I will have to check out other training providers. I am really, really shocked how unprofessional this company became.

Aggressive sales, unfair contract terms

Like many others, I signed up for a 2-year contract and received an email about an automatic renewal after the 90-day cancellation period (that I had no idea about) had passed. Seems like this is just the kind of unfair contract term the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 aimed to regulate, but maybe it doesn't apply to LexisNexis. I am getting constant emails and invoices, but no resolution. I would not recommend this service under any circumstances.

Avoid the renewal trap - sharp practice

Very dubious sales tactics used to induce me to sign up to their product. The sales representative completely misled me about the renewals process leading to an unwanted extension of the contract for further 12 months despite me repeatedly informing LexisNexis that we were not using the package. Renewal notifications are sent after the 90-day cancellation notice period rendering them pointless.
LexisNexis are now pursuing my small business through the courts. Very sharp practice.
Please feel free to contact me if you have had a similar experience. I’d be only too willing to assist anybody who requires our help in anyway.

This company does credit checks daily…

This company does credit checks daily for no apparent reason they keep your credit score low so the companies that use them can charge extortionate rates daily checks 3 to 4 times a day but I hadn't applied for any form of credit

Misleading, awful communication, taking money early, refusing clarification

Sales – I signed up through one of their agents in Apr/24 and I was told over the phone that I could sign up, and cancel after one year if I wanted to. This was not true. I was subsequently told I was tied into a three-year contract without being able to cancel. The initial sales lied and mis-sold, but they contact you by phone so it’s not in writing.

Communication – throughout the time I have contacted my account manager, the Head of Sales, Director of Desk Account Management, and the VP of sales, and every single one of them I had to chase them up to get a response. They say they will get back to you within 48 hours, but they don’t. There is such a lack of communication from what should be a professional organisation it is embarrassing. The last email I has with the VP of sales; Gavin Shaw was over a month ago, and I was ignored.

Taking money early – I signed up for a direct debit and I was provided a schedule with only the month on the schedule and not the date, I had to request this. I was then told by the instalments department that it would be the last working day of the month. The first DD was taken early. I asked them why, and they responded the payments would be taken ‘on or before the last working day’ so any day in the month? I had to chase them up multiple time to get the actual dates, and they only provided the next 4 months, not the remaining period.

Fair usage policy – they have a fair usage policy for information you can download at 10% of the information you have access to. However, they will not tell you how much information you have access to, and they say that ‘they (GC) don’t require us to disclose a number of documents in our library or any other key data’. They won’t provide any further information other than 10%.

Overall, my experience with this company and their staff from every level has been atrocious. Highly recommend to stay away!

Update: My contract has been terminated. They then also sent an invoice for the remaining amount after the cancellation date.

They should be put out of business.

They should be put out of business.

I used a price comparison site once to check prices for house insurance, LexisNexis then made a change to my credit score because Natwest alerted me 30 seconds later. I am now unable to hire vehicles from Enterprise Rent a Car. This is maddening as we are in process of moving house. Hopefully firms using them will realise how much business they are losing.

Yes miserable service 2 year contract…

Yes miserable service 2 year contract including PROPERTY DISPUTES but doesnt include up to date witness statement and affadavit templates! Seriously how do you resolve a property dispute with no evidence? Qu not of interest to LN. I think practical law is frankly better - these guys box off law into different areas just to make you pay more without neccessarily thinking through what you need to deal with that area. Anyway I complained but they dont care.Who would have thought it!

Worst company to have a contract with

Worst company to have a contract with.

You will need to give 90days notice and if you fail then it is auto renewal and any price increase is on the top. It is my recent experience like all others and recommend to not to have contract with this company or fall for it's sale tactics. Also except precedents they provide nothing.

Unethical and Potentially Illegal Practices

I strongly advise against dealing with this company. They are engaging in highly questionable and likely illegal practices by selling personal details to utility suppliers without consent. They do not even seek permission before accessing your information in their database, which is a clear violation of data protection laws.

This kind of activity raises serious concerns about fraud being committed in people’s names without their knowledge. Authorities should investigate their conduct, and I urge others to be extremely cautious when dealing with them.

If you have had a similar experience, I recommend reporting them to the relevant regulatory bodies.
