AVOID UNITED VAN LINES AT ALL COSTS – Deliberate Tampering, Privacy Violation & Massive Destruction!
This was the worst moving experience imaginable and feels like outright sabotage. United Van Lines crew intentionally and recklessly tampered with my personally sealed boxes – they cut them open, inserted heavy items like boxes and chairs at the bottom, then resealed them poorly. This caused catastrophic crushing and damage: over 16 garment boxes completely ruined, my wood credenza smashed (slate top shattered), leather bench badly scuffed, and virtually every item in the shipment damaged in some way.
This wasn’t accidental rough handling – it was purposeful interference with sealed personal property, violating my privacy and trust. They had no right to open or tamper with my sealed boxes. This conduct appears to breach federal transportation regulations and criminal mischief under New Jersey law for – purposely or recklessly damaging/tampering with another’s property.
The financial and emotional toll has been enormous – thousands in ruined clothing, furniture, and irreplaceable items. Their claims process? A joke – $150 on an almost $20K loss doesn’t come close to covering the destruction they caused.
Do NOT use United Van Lines. They destroy belongings, invade privacy, and leave customers devastated.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! I hired them for a personal move from NYC to Putnam County and they will sell you the stars and moons and claim to be the best in the business. Steve Eschebauer booked the move for us and Mary Purcell coordinate the local move. Once the movers arrived, it was clear to us that it would be enough man power to handle the move. The movers SEVERELY DAMAGED OUR BED BEYOND REPAIR. I submitted a claim to get some kind of compensation and because I didn't purchase extra insurance, the company will only refund you $.60 per lb. My bed is a $3,000+ bed and they offered to refund me $180 which was ridiculous. They want you to purchase extra insurance which costs almost the same amount of the actual move. Although Mary offered to help with this problem, the ultimate solution was to send a repair company to "fix" the bed by putting some nails through it. But truth be told, the bed is no longer the same and we are out both a bed and descent amount refund to be able to purchase another one. And to add salt to the wound, they emailed us to say that the bed was reapaired to our satisfaction when in reality the bed is broken beyond repair!!! This company is IRRESPONSIBLE and doesn't care whether your goods are damaged or not after they get paid! THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY EVEN TO MY WORST ENEMY! SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR MOVE!!

Liberty moved my wife and I from NJ to Florida. Over the course of the project the cost changed (went up) and the communication was terrible.
When we got to FL the dining room table had 3 legs broken off as it incorrectly packed, Liberty would not pay for the damaged even though an identical table was still on WAYFAIR for $400.
Very unreliable, untrustworthy and do stand be their work....avoid them - I paid $10000 for terrible service.

The guys did a really good job, Everything thing was packed nice and neat and with care. Will recommend Liberty Moving to anyone!

A year ago, I moved from NYC to So. Florida using liberty moving Company. I had 3 other moving companies come to give me quotes and tell me what the process would be. Believe you, me, i did my homework and I chose Liberty! From start to finish it was problem free. I would give my Salesman and my moving guys, both in Ny and Florida, 5 Stars and then some!
If ya gotta move, i highly recommend Liberty!

Liberty movers was chosen by united van lines to be the local mover on Long Island for my cross country move to Las Vegas Nevada. Liberty movers arrived on time as scheduled. The team of three movers was very professional and worked well as a team to pack and load all my belongings onto the truck. They moved my one bedroom apartment in about 1 1/2 hours. My belongings were shipped across country and safely delivered to my new home by a different company. I was very satisfied with the liberty team and I would recommend them to others.

The Liberty staff were professional in my move. I appreciated that aspect very much.

They were consistent with communications, movers were on time, professional & hustled. all furnishings were bar coded & arrived intact, the movers went above expectations to care for our belongings on loading & unloading.
