Notwithstanding my game ended up normally, I got their stupid message to the effect that they promoted pleasant experience and had to time me out for "potential problem"

Trash site

After 59 thousand matches, they flagged my account as one that manipulates the rating just because some days I play better and others worse. They are defamers without evidence. Trash site.

I look at the complaints and I wonder

I look at the complaints and I wonder. If it is chess you want to play on a rocksolid and well designed platform, this is the place to go. I especially like the design of the timing. That‘s how it should be. And as I said, I play chess, Rated 5 min blitz against humans exclusively. No chitchat. Bad experiences have nothing to do with this platform, but with your badly played chess. That‘s where you have to improve. Yourself as a player. Things go south? Nothing to do with his platform, which is infinitely better than that unnecessary chess.com thingy – feted for all the wrong reasons. You want chitchat? Go somewhere else. But we chessplayers who love the game should stay with Lichess.

Good website

Good website. Analyzes every game for the user without charging them. Also, compared to chess.com, it doesn't disconnect that often!

tried playing what they call chess on…

tried playing what they call chess on the site, game is so poorly programmed a 2/10 game is pretty easy to beat a computer, but 3/10 is a gulf above and a struggle to beat
why is there noone capable of making online games actually scale up properly and everything is either walking over the computer or it walks over you

Highly recommended

Highly recommended chess resource for free and no adverts.

Great for beginners learning chess and great for more experienced players who can create their own studies and to analyse games as well as checking out openings and endings.

Fantastic site

Best not to play random players if you cannot cope with occasionally coming across someone using a chess engine.

Plenty of cheating & mental illness on Lichess

This was a good site for online chess until about 6 months ago. An large influx of mentally ill people have overrun the forums so that asking questions or making observations is impossible, now. Mods simply don't care. Noticeable spike in cheating over the same time span, about which nothing is ever done. The site is turning into a virtual sewer. There's no real difference in quality between Lichess and chess.com, now. Both are pretty bad.

KEEPING GAMES ON HOLD FOR HOURS AS PUNISHMENT.

Whenever an attempt is made to find a equal or better player for 2-3 times this site is placing the player on hold for 2 hours as if it is a big crime. No sensitive player likes to play with a low rated player and win a game as it is not at all a win. Also there is no provision to communicate to Lichess for telling any thing. In other aspects it is fairly good.Hope Lichess allows players to choose opponents according to choice.

Banned because of my haters

Corruption, boorish attitude of moderators and users. They threw me into a ban supposedly for cheating, in fact I didn't cheat. I do not recommend lichess.org.

There are organized band of bullies, that have bullying me for 1 year. The Lichess did nothing with them, but when I responded to their insults, my first account was closed, second was muted and third was marked as ToS violation.

bad experience

Zero communication, no reply to emails, the platform full with cheaters, seems like noones controlling the site.
They took away the chance to send message to other players.
Just wonder no more negative comments here.

Goods(amazing platform) and bads (Cheater friendly)

Lichess is very good with a large variety of learning tools.

Nowadays cheaters have many options including browser plug-ins and can cheat even in 1-minute games. Some cheaters use it either right from the beginning and some when they get in trouble position. I can easily say %10 to %15 weekdays, at least double at the weekends...

What Lichess says? Cheating is only %0.02, 2 in every 10 thousand :) Because Lichess understanding of cheating is from beginning to end every move should be 1st stockfish move. They are way too much outdated for cheat detection.
Use their free tools for analysing Master's games and learning but don't worry about the games you play

Update: I dropped my rating from 3 stars to 2 stars. Getting worse with mental people. Cheating is increased massively and they now overtook the chess.com on that aspect by becoming the most cheater friendly platform.
