Absolutely terrible
Purchased two sets of dumbbells, owned for less than a year, babied the absolute crap out of them, and this purchase has been in my top regrets ever. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. These free weights have been nothing but problems for me to the point that I just feel sour looking at them and don't want to use them -- and to be honest, I don't even trust them anymore so it's been an insane waste of money.
First, it was getting an email after ordering that actually, dumbbells heavier than a specific weight don't have a silicone handle, and did I still want to purchase? Weird, I thought, but okay, the brand is new, they haven't updated the page yet. It's been literally almost a year and still the entire page for this product boasts silicone handles for all models. So... what gives?
Then, the weights arrive. They are well packaged, so I will give credit there. Upon inspecting, I noticed immediately that one dumbbell's silicone handle was flush with the edges, meanwhile, the other had a noticeable gap and slipped and slid up and down the handle. This was disappointing for the price point, but I tried to excuse this as Lifted being a new brand, and wanting to support a Canadian business. In hindsight, I regret not addressing it sooner.
I used the Lifted dumbbells I purchased occasionally as they were a supplement to my existing set. I moved them, used them, and stored them with extreme care. Then one day, I picked up one dumbbell and the marble piece completely fell out of the well. The glue was completely dried out. Fortunately, I wasn't injured and the marble fell on a soft padded surface.
Two days ago, somehow, despite my extreme care of these incredibly expensive items, one dumbbell's supposed 'chip-resistant edge' has in fact chipped. I wish I had video footage of just how careful I have been with these things during their infrequent use because I need people to understand just how impractical this design is, that this was even possible at all.
I contacted the brand after the marble piece issue, mentioned the other problem with the other set and the silicone not being flush, and while the email I received seemed to suggest they were regretful, their response was to advise me to buy glue to fix the marble and offered compensation of 20% off my next purchase (an offer I have seen many times during sale season and LESS than their Black Friday offer). It was seriously beyond insulting.
I'm so beyond over this brand and this purchase. Something in my gut told me it was not a good idea to purchase from this brand when I was at checkout last November and I ignored it because of all the buzzwords around 'Canadian and women owned'. I wanted to love this brand. I wanted this purchase to have been completely worth it for this price point. Instead I feel cheated, I feel scammed, and I feel incredibly stupid for spending this kind of money when I could have easily saved myself hundreds and just picked up something elsewhere. I am begging anyone who is looking at these weights to go elsewhere. There is no warranty on these things, the quality control is laughable, the design is completely impractical, and the customer service fell completely short when I brought these things to their attention. I am not trying to sh*t all over this brand but I feel anyone browsing here deserves to know what a waste of money these items are.
I should also note that I attempted to leave my honest experience and reviews on the products I purchased on their website, and my reviews were scrubbed away.
