I own the litter robot 4.
The concept is brilliant but its not made very well.
I paid extra to get the hopper.
The bonet is flimsy. I Have to keep clipping it back together. The inner liner is damaged already after a short time of use due to an area where the cat scratches. Its not going to last and unfortunately cats do their thing you cant stop them doing a natural thing.
There is stickers with barcodes on each part. These are made with paper so wiping it out which is unavoidable has ruined the barcodes. This would of better if they had been made using a waterproof sticker.
My litter robot regular disconnects to the wifi and stops it from cycling.
The guard used to stop cats peeing out the box slides when the cats are entering the litter box. Annoying and frightens my cats.
Litter robot 5 seems to have sorted some issues out but is not available in the uk. Overall im not overly happy with the quality. If i was able to switch to the litter robot 5 i would be alot happier as my issues are what the litter robot 5 has brought in to improve.

Thank you to your service team for walking me through the flickering blue light and WiFi issue. Your patience and care with me is outstanding as I am not a technical person. I am so happy with the litter-robot. I highly recommend you to everyone with cats!!

I ordered a £700 item. I was out for the day so I put for dpd to leave in enclosed porch as a safe place. The photo shows Dpd left it with the door wide open and the parcel with stolen. They are not taking responsibility for this and saying I need to go to the police until they refund me. I shouldn’t have to do this.
Consumer Rights Act 2015, Section 29(2):
“The goods remain at the trader’s risk until they come into the physical possession of—
(a) the consumer, or
(b) a person identified by the consumer to take possession of the goods.”
It should be up to them to claim with DPD. It’s not a legal requirement to require a police claim to refund someone. It’s insane.
I will be taking this further if I am not refunded for my item. It is the companies responsibility to fix this. Not mine.

The 5 pro is the only one I haven’t liked I’ve had the 3 and 4. The 5s litter drawer constantly pops open.

I had a littler robot 4 for around 2 years & loved it. But features of robot 5 pro seemed awesome. They were offering a trade in credit which helped w/ cost

I recently onboarded my Litter-Robot 5 Pro, replacing my trusted Litter-Robot 4. My Litter-Robot 4 was extremely reliable, easy to maintain, and my cats loved it. Since I enjoy technology, I decided to upgrade to the Litter-Robot 5 Pro with the dual cameras, new design, and LED display.
So far, I’m very impressed. The onboarding process was simple and straightforward. Just follow the instructions in the app, and you'll be up and running in no time. One thing that immediately stood out to me was how quiet the unit is. I can barely hear it run.
One tip I would share is that after connecting the robot to the app, it will download and install new firmware. During this process, make sure you do not move or touch the unit. If you do, the update may restart. That’s not a problem and is actually part of the system's protection process, but it can add extra time. Once the initial update is complete and your robot is ready to use, I recommend calling customer support and asking them to verify that all firmware updates have been installed. In my case, there appeared to be an additional update available after the first one.
You really can’t beat the customer service this company provides. Their support team has always made me feel valued as a customer, especially when purchasing the optional three-year warranty. Yes, their products are expensive, but in my experience, both the product quality and customer support justify the investment.
Finally, be careful about some of the comments you read online regarding onboarding issues. In my experience, the process is nearly foolproof. If you have a stable internet connection and can follow basic instructions, you should have no trouble getting your Litter-Robot set up. And if you do run into a problem, customer support is available seven days a week and will help get you up and running quickly.
Overall, I’m very happy with the upgrade and look forward to seeing how the Litter-Robot 5 Pro performs over the long term.

After years of trying different automatic cat litter cleaners I finally found the litter robot. I used to have to buy a new device every other year. The first Litter robot I have is 6 years old and still running just fine. I recently ordered the auto feeder for my cat and that has been working great too.

Although it seems modern and automatic it is very heavy and clunky takes up a lot of space. Doesn't make sense

We were thrilled with our Litter Robot 4 for our 2 cats. Lifechanging and so worth the $800!! — once we figured out which magical combo of cat litter worked with it… But after about a year, the weighing of the cats got wonky, and then we started to have to reset it more often. I finally turned off all the notifications bc it became a daily experience to have to go in and hit the Cycle or Reset button, so we just made sure to check on it a couple times a day. And yes, we kept it clean.
This week, it just stopped working. We’ve had it for 2 years. Evidently it’s some sensor that is not repairable and since there’s only a 1 yr warranty, we need to pay for the entire base to be replaced. That’s $500!!! Whiskers customer rep team offered a 15% discount coupon and presented that in a way that insinuated we were supposed to feel really grateful and lucky to receive.
So if you have plenty of money—get yourself one! But be prepared to spend another $450 every couple of years once the warranty expires and sensors start breaking!

Generally (and historically) had great experiences with Litter Robot (since the original).
Most recent interaction with Garrett K. seemed like a generic AI response (or certainly copy & paste) with minimal effort as over half of the response...was not relevant to my issue at all.
My issue is that my warranty shown in the app has been incorrect (I have multiple LR4s). The generic response was to prove proof of ownership, take several photos of the item, receipts, etc. All of this is documented in the app when I downloaded and installed with my new LR4.
As someone working in data, I know every single metric can be tracked and assessed. But instead of actually helping a resolution, we're going to do this song and dance because he was too lazy to actually address the issue and just threw a blanket message instead. Feels a bit silly and a time-waster.
I can only imagine if someone actually need to use their warranty that LR/Whisker customer support may try to dangle and prolong the fix so that the time can elapse now and then refuse coverage. It's a bit disappointing to see how different it is now compared to how they were back when they were up-and-comers.

I’ve had the litter robot 3 for about a little over two years and I’m getting beyond frustrated and ready to throw it out. It keeps having cat sensory issues and gets stuck mid-clean. Now I’m a shift working mom and am not always home. So my two cats go without the litter and have caused serious issues. My cats ended up peeing in the bottom of my son’s stroller which I had to throw away, a crate and barrel fabric expensive desk that I had to throw away, and now my recliner chair!!!! All because this litter robot keeps getting stuck mid-clean cycle. I notice when I even press cycle it doesn’t respond and the yellow light is always illuminated. At this point I’d honestly rather scoop. My property and most importantly my babies things are getting destroyed. I am so beyond devastated and disappointed.

Most expensive clunk of cheaply made plastic I’ve ever bought. The globe constantly gets stuck spinning because the plastic parts don’t fit together properly, which means I’ve had to dismantle and readjust a dirty litter globe multiple times already — twice just last week alone.
The waste drawer bags are another nightmare. Every single time I insert the drawer, the bag catches on part of the plastic and rips open. I have never once removed a full bag without discovering a huge tear from installation, even after trying different ways to insert it more carefully.
You’re also basically locked into their litter subscription because the machine only works within an extremely specific weight range: too heavy and it won’t spin correctly, too light and the waste smears all over the inside of the globe during cleaning cycles. So now I’m dependent on constantly ordering their overpriced litter and supplies.
Their litter also creates way more waste than advertised. For one cat, I’m replacing the waste drawer every 3–5 days, not once a week like they claim. And to make matters worse, there are areas inside the machine that are nearly impossible to clean properly, which is honestly disgusting for something designed around pet waste hygiene.
For the price, I expected something durable and thoughtfully engineered. Instead, it feels cheaply made, frustrating to maintain, and designed to trap you into buying proprietary products.

Brilliant product and outstanding customer support. Mine broke after 3 years (worked brilliantly until then) and they very swiftly sent me the part that would fix the issue free of charge. I’d definitely buy another litter robot from Whisker when this one’s shelf life is over.

I got the litter robot 5, my cats have no fear around it but that means that they want to mess with it every time it cycles. If they look in, it stops moving. This means that they can then jump in and pee right into the grating that holds the good litter while emptying. This means that I am still scooping but it is much harder than normal litter box scooping. There is no way for the robot to keep cycling when they look in and only stop if they get in, which they probably wouldn't if it was moving, but since it stops they wait a little bit and then jump in.
This also means that it allows them to dig around in the waste bin part beneath and pull out poops. It also lets them keep it open as long as they want so it stinks up the room.
Even when it isn't moving and the cats aren't around, it occasionally lets out a terrible smell like gas builds up in the waste bin and then gets released. I have the better filter add on but I don't think these emissions go out that direction.
The motor is very weak, using the recommended clay litter you can hear it whine as it struggles to cycle. It eventually stopped being able to cycle (about 2 months in) so I switched to a lighter litter but that doesn't have enough weight to fall so I have to help scrape but at least poops get emptied on the normal clean cycles.

The product in itself is not that bad. Just didn't do it for one of my cats. The problem is customer service. I had to argue during three weeks to get the correct information to return the litter because the information they sent me was for FedEx returns, but they asked to return it through Canpar.
They received it April 14th. So far (May 15th), still no news or refund. I wrote again today : they will contact me by email to figure out what is the problem. You have to pursue them to get an actual answer or follow-up. For 1600$, this is far from acceptable.
Furthermore, they need to follow-up accordingly : they asked me to return everything in the same box, even if I had to separate order numbers. Now, they have questions about some items. It would be illogical to think that they cannot link my two orders, done on the same day, at the same time, with the same infos, and execute the refund.

This really is a “quality of life purchase.” Although some upkeep is needed, taking care of litter is much easier and less time consuming than it was. And odor is much less of a problem. I have four cats (9 -12 years) and they all took to it, but it did take about two weeks. Because of the number and occasional guarding, I left one of their old litters down. Even so, each cat uses the robot on average 2-4 times a day.
