So disappointed in Liz Earle

So disappointed in Liz Earle. Skin Tonic and Eye Bright were two of my regular staples, along with the Skin Repair but in their madness they’ve changed all the beautiful products, the beautiful aroma has gone in the Eye Bright, the Skin Tonic has now lost that beautiful aroma too, but worse than that it’s now sticky and foams on the skin. Until Liz Earle returns to original formulas then I will not purchase again. Have they never heard of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Farewell Liz Earle Skin Products

There was a time when my entire skin routine was Liz Earle. As the company has been passed from owner to owner and products reformulated I have used fewer & fewer. This week saw my final bottle of my final product go - Everbright Soothing Lotion. This has been a life saver for my eyes and I'm heartbroken that it too has succumbed. They've replaced it with micellar water for goodness sake which is horribly irritating, not soothing! I've mainly moved on to Elemis but know a replacement for Eyebright will be hard to find. Would give zero stars if I could.

Liz Earle products no more.

I have been using Liz Earle for over 10 years, particularly the skin tonic and Eyebright Bright. I hoped they had just changed their packaging but their formulation must have changed too. Both have a soapy consistency and if eyebright gets into my eyes I need to rinse with water - this has never happened before. Am also experiencing breakouts and dry patches which I am blaming on the new ingredients as nothing else in my diet or routine has changed. Well Liz Earle has just won Elemis a new customer! Why do companies "improve" products? If it ain't broke don't fix it!

No longer a fan

I have used Liz Earle on and off for a number of years. Now a little older I felt like my skin needed a boost and went back to the cleanse and polish routine. Not sure what’s happened but my skin is red, itchy and very bumpy/little spots like I have taken a reaction. Would definitely not recommend. Something in the ingredients must have changed.

Do they care?

I wrote a review back in Nov 2021 but have just had a look to see what customers are saying recently, as I am running out of my old stock of cleanse and polish. Don't think I will be buying any more in view of all the awful reviews. Doubly put off because the company haven't replied to ANY reviews in the last 12 months. It seems they don't care about their customers AT ALL!

Zero rating..

Zero rating..! I'm absolutely disgusted how LE have discontinued the Skin Repair moisturiser. The alternative is rubbish, such a waste of money with no benefits for my skin. It's left my skin super dry and tight... I'm at a loss as to where to start searching for a new moisturiser after using the SR for almost 10 years. Such a bad move from LE and I can quite honestly say its put me off the brand for good..! No care whatsoever for loyal custom. It truly is a tragedy..!!

Reformulations are a sham

I used to work for Liz Earle when it was first purchased by WBA, loved all of the products and continued to use them after moving on in my career…. until they gradually began to reformulate everything. First the Cleanse and polish, then the original moisturisers, then the super skin and just this Christmas I received three skin tonics. Only just moved on to the new formula and it is making my eyelids and skin around my eyes red, flaky and burning. I now use nothing from the range and will be seeking a refund on the Christmas gifts. My family thought they were getting me a nice treat when in fact it’s caused me pain!

Understand there is inflation and profit margins to protect, but WBA have basically ran this brand into the ground trying to reach the masses and have alienated all of the original Liz Earle lovers. Such a shame!

C&P No Longer Vegan-Friendly & Quality Not The Same (thanks a lot Boots)

I have been a proud user of Liz Earle’s products for over 11 years now but sadly, like many others, it is time for me to say goodbye.

Seeing as the Cleanse & Polish is the only product I still buy from them, I haven’t had any seriously bad experiences as others have. BUT - the beloved C&P has definitely changed and not what it once was. I noticed a couple of years ago that the texture had changed and I now needed to use a lot more of the product to fully cleanse my face, whereas before a little went a long way. As a result I’ve been getting through the tubes much faster than I used to.

Another tell-tale sign that suggests there has been a change is that my skin has been breaking out more over the last couple of months, even though I haven’t added any other new skin products to my routine. I was really just putting it down to lifestyle factors and/or hormones at first but now I’m wondering if the latest tube of C&P I bought a couple of months ago could be the cause, if I’ve been given one from a newer (reformulated) batch.

But the biggest annoyance for me is that the C&P packaging used to say it was suitable for vegans and contained no animal derivatives in it. After a packaging change sometime last year this messaging was removed and I noticed the product now had beeswax in it. Now of course the product may have always had beeswax in and maybe I just didn’t realise, but I am sure that at the start of my vegan journey 7 years ago I checked that I could still use Liz Earle C&P and all was fine, otherwise I wouldn’t still have it in my cupboard years later. I feel that this has been sneaked into the ingredients somewhere along the line without me knowing, and the change in messaging on the outer packaging only makes me more suspicious.

I’m now going to switch to Evolve Beauty’s Cleansing Balm Melt which looks to be quite similar but is totally vegan and comes from a small artisan company with similar values to the original Liz Earle. It’s a real shame that Liz had to sell her company as since it’s been in Boots’ hands both the quality and the ethics of the company seem to have gone downhill. What a terrible waste!!

Good luck to my fellow LE fans out there, I hope you find a company that is more deserving of your custom, that creates products your skin is more deserving of. 😘

Only buy if you hate your skin

I’ve been using Liz Earle products for almost 20 years and always loved them. I’m often told I look younger than my age and I’ve always put it down to my skin care - Liz Earle- and convinced family and friends to use their products.
I now feel bad for doing so! The new formulations seem like cheap substitutes for the originals. I have normal skin -not dry, oily or combination- but all of the moisturisers are awful.

I was concerned when the company was taken over by Avon but was reassured when they continued to maintain previous standards. It was interesting to try different scents of Cleanse and Polish and they all seemed to be as good as the original. Since they were taken over by Walgreen Boots Alliance things really seem to have changed.

Thankfully, I have enough of the original toner to last for a couple of months, as the reviews lead me to believe I’d suffer with the new formulation.

In the meantime, I’ll be searching for an alternative. Walgreen Boots might have bought Liz Earle but they didn’t buy my custom!

Interestingly, I submitted a similar review to Liz Earle but it was rejected, as it doesn’t meet their criteria!

I have been a loyal fan of all the LE…

I have been a loyal fan of all the LE products for decades. The new face care formulations are shocking- they irritate my skin and I feel I’ve lost a tried and trusted best friend. I’ve no choice but to leave this brand, not only for the poor skin care products but also for their lack of care for loyal and supporting customers. Such a shame Liz- your amazing products are lost.

Burning eyes

I too have been using Liz Earle for years and have noticed a dismaying drop in quality. Tonight I applied the Super Skin Nourishing Night Cream and woke up several hours later with burning eyes. This never happened in the past. Time to change to another company, sadly.

Temple Spa wins hands down I’ve this

I ordered the environmental defence cream as an alternative to the temple spa life defence cream that I normally use and I’ll be going straight back to temple spa. Why is the cream tinted??? There is no need!! If I wanted a foundation I’d have purchased one because this is how this cream goes on! It clumps and leaves a residue on my skin. I’ve tried it after my daily moisturiser and without and the look is still the same! Won’t be purchasing again! It took Liz Earle long enough to produce an spf cream but maybe she shouldn’t have bothered.

What on earth has happened to Liz Earle…

What on earth has happened to Liz Earle .. I used to love Superskin. Just bought the whole bundle and my skin which is normally great is horrific .. spotty and stinging. Just going to bin them all. What a waste of money. I prefer Body Shop or Superdrug at a fraction of the price
