Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 33 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently report being charged significantly higher prices than initially quoted, often encountering hidden fees, unexpected call-out charges, and VAT additions. Many felt exploited, especially regarding the cost of services and replacement parts. The service itself was often described as poor, with technicians arriving late without apology, providing unprofessional assessments, and sometimes damaging property. Reviewers also found communication challenging, noting rude phone interactions and a lack of transparency regarding pricing and work details. However, some customers mentioned positive interactions with staff, describing them as friendly or nice. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that staff could be forceful or rude, and some experienced technicians who did not show up as promised, leading to wasted time.

Don’t ever use these guys

Don’t ever use these guys! Absolute disgusting! Call out charge £49 then told £150 for new lock. However once job done was charged almost £500 as he forgot to mention extras!
Next day my new keys don’t work in the new lock! Called the locksmith back and he said it’s broke and we need new one! And we could have to pay again! This is for my elderly parents who are disabled! Please don’t use!

Dodgy pricing and bad manners

Looks like i got away lightly. Called for a quote, said £49. Guy arrived v quickly and told me £79 (lock was an old yale single bolt and i didnt want it replacing since it was just the internal door) I questioned the price and he ran the spiel of different locks etc. obviously you don’t really have a choice so i said fine.

He finished up leaving all the drilled out metal dust everywhere and chucked the lock on the ground.
When i checked my bank app id actually paid £89. 😠
Maybe they just pluck out random prices. Id avoid if i were you!!!

There was no drama in this crisis

Key dropped out of my pocket on a visit to an older lady to give her a bit of company. I rang at 9.30pm. The locksmith arrived 30 mins later (just as he had promised) - It took about 2 mins to remove and replace. Cheery, chatty young chappie. Yes, I expected it to cost me - but thankfully it seems that it will be covered by my insurance. What could have been a very anxious time was sorted very speedily.

Charged me an extortionate amount

Called them due to being locked out of my house, can’t fault them on timing to show up. However where I can fault them is the extortionate amount they charged. £460 to drill and replace the lock. Since the lock was ‘too difficult to pick’. When I asked about the price all he said was it was competitive pricing and to cover the company if something was to go wrong such as theft etc, which I think is ridiculous to charge extra to cover the charge the company would have to pay if something was to go wrong. Shouldn’t be charging customers higher rates just because they would have to pay out for someone else’s problems. Could have brought a drill and lock and done it for cheaper myself. If I had known they would charge this much I wouldn’t have used them!

These people are taking advantage big time

These guys have just been out to me as I’ve lost my key in the dark on my drive. I was told £75.00 call out.
They took advantage of me as I’m a 78yr old woman in the pitch black.
They were there for 10 to 15 mins and charged me £480.00 for drilling lock out and putting in new one leaving a horrid mess and not even bothering to pick up the mess they made.
I asked for email to explain how the work amounted to this price but that hasn’t happened. I need to report this as it is worrying me somewhat.

Horrible service

Horrible service. Was told it would be $65 dollars to get the door open as my keys were locked inside. Ended up saying it would actually be $80. Was told they would be there in 20 minutes. Showed up about an hour later and charged $108. Do not recommend these guys at all.

Scam Fraud Company

Scam Fraud Company

They take advantage of vulnerable people and charge too high!

They also take advantage of a panic situation the you face when you find you lock yourself out.

They don't tell you the price before they start to work, then charge me 500 for drilling two holes to open the door.

These guys scammed my 60 year old mum…

These guys scammed my 60 year old mum for 1600 and took advantage of the fact she was panicking.

A common locksmith scam is to say they have to drill the lock and replace it when they could have picked the lock in a couple mins.

No way does it cost 1600 to replace a lock, they took advantage of her.

No conscience, terrible people

Scammers

I called these lot out on 12 May and was charged £600 to open a jammed door which they opened with a crow bar! They said this was for opening the door, greasing the locks and aligning the door(they pretending to align the door) Same problem happened again on 14th July and called Thurrock Locksmiths, doors and windows 07926681229 who also came out on a Sunday and charged £95!

BEWARE - ROGUE TRADERS & SCAMMERS!

BEWARE - ROGUE TRADERS & SCAMMERS!

Lock on one of my door was playing up so we did a quick Google search and contacted this company on 03332578758 - interestingly, this number is nowhere to be found on Google now!

Was told on the phone that there is a £45 call out charge which includes repairs that will be carried out on-site. This so-called professional bloke turns up, unbolts the locking mechanism on my door and then quotes £900 for the repairs. I ask for a breakdown and he is unable to give me any further details.

Within a matter of minutes, he drops the quote to £400. I still ask for the breakdown incl part(s) that he will use and is reluctant to share any details. He then offers to do the job for £250 'cash in hand'!

At this point, I am feeling nervous as I have my elderly parents at home and I am getting itchy to throw him out of my house. He doesn't leave until I have paid the callout fee. I ask him to put the bolts back on and he refuses. I tell him that I am not paying anything until he puts the locking mechanism back on - he succumbs to my demand. He is still not leaving my home at which point I call up the number 03332578758 and speak with a very rude, ill-mannered person over the phone who is screaming his guts out!

I had to pay the callout fee to get him out of my house. I then rung my card issuer and have explained the situation who have kindly reversed the transaction.

PS: The rogue locksmith carries a Zettle card device on him and the transaction appeared as "Zettle_*UK TOP NOTCH S" It is my assumption that this is UK TOP NOTCH SERVICES and reading from reviews below, it is strongly advised to stay away from these scamsters.

Spread the word, share as much intel and info on these and save others from being scammed.

Scam Company, Fraud, Avoid!!
Quoted 150-200 to change two locks
Engineer came and started the job before quoting 500 for each lock, after challenging the cheapest lock he said he had was 300, lies just look at all the reviews, they are a scam AVOID!

They have been reported to trading standards and the trading ombudsman who I believe are currently investing this company.

Do not use. Will add costs without informing

Called this company for opening a front door.

Breakdown of the costs:
- 2 lock drilling: 2 x 336 + VAT
- New lock, which is just a cylinder: 89 + VAT

Attenpted to charge me 149 + VAT to fit the cylinder (a 5mns job). This cost was not mentioned prior to do the job. When challenged, was told i didn’t ask. (which is wrong). Practices are borderline fraudulent, and i am considering reporting to trading standard.

This company is a full blown SCAM

This company is a full blown SCAM! Do not use them! After reading the other disgusting reviews on them, it definitely confirms it. They come up as Battersea Locksmiths. They charged me £45 to come to my house (leaving out that VAT wasn’t included) which brought it to £56. They barely looked at the lock and told me my only option was to replace it. The kicker - they said it was £389 for the same lock and £89 for installation! LMAO I knew something wasnt right.

Then they gave me all this crap about how it was high end and just a few hundred pounds to protect my family etc. fully taking advantage that I had my baby on my hip!

I asked if I googled the cost right now what the price would be and he went quiet. So I googled my lock (EXACT SAME ONE) and it was only £60 at any ScrewFix or B&Q! Thank god I told them I didn’t want the work done. You could tell they were very unprofessional and dodgey! BEWARE and do not use them!

I will be reporting them and thank god I am only out £56 and not a whole lot more. LOW life SCUM!
