Awful experience
All far beyond disappointing, pro prices for amateurish service.
VW Touran Engine reconditioning service advertised for the cost of £1700 and 7/10 days of work and booked in on the 11/04 for works to be carried on from 09/05 with one month notice. Vehicle accordingly brought in on the 09/05 but works start on the 12/05 and are completed in 16 days with an extra charge of £800 for extra parts required (Head £400, Injectors £400). £2500 on total.
After collection, after driving 15 miles, I notice a rattle noise coming from the engine area. After about 40 miles and less than 1 hour of car use the engine light is back on on the dashboard. The problem code is P10AB, apparently related to the vehicle supercharger that was not apparently involved in the engine reconditioning and that was apparently working smoothly before repair, never had issues and never caused the system to identify malfunctions.
Within 24 hours from collection I report to the mechanic sending pictures of the fault code and sending a video, via WhatsApp, which proves the rattle noise made by the vehicle when accelerating. I bring the car to the mechanic one week later, as agreed with them, and the new issue is identified by the mechanic as a Supercharger fault. The mechanic initially seems to agree to help sorting the issue. Local mechanics consulted inform me evidence suggests the supercharger was damaged or the issue was caused by the works carried by London Car Solution LTD.
As a compromise solution and a gesture of good will I offer to buy the spare part and ask the mechanic to at least replace the part damaged during the repair at no cost. While they initially seem to agree when I bring the vehicle there, 25 June, to carry service and discuss terms of the agreement, the mechanic refuses to carry extra work on the vehicle and deny any responsibility. The wash their hands clean saying the supercharger is not internal part of the engine and so not covered by the six months warranty stipulated. They also categorically refuse to return part of the money received for the job. Will report to Trading Standards and Trade Associations.
