Look for Portugal agency did not provide a single satisfactory moment during my trip, and I strongly recommend you reconsider partnering with them to avoid damaging your reputation.

As a solo traveler, I have always connected well with guides on past tours, which has made my trips memorable and enjoyable. This time, however, the assigned guide, Antonio, was unfriendly, disengaged, and appeared uninterested in his job. Incredibly, he never once spoke a single word to me personally during the entire trip.

This was my first time in Portugal—a trip I hoped to remember fondly for the rest of my life. Instead, I will remember it for all the wrong reasons. If I could give Antonio a rating of minus 100, I would. His service, language, common sense, tour engagement, and friendliness were all far below any acceptable standard.

1. Unprofessional behavior
• Antonio arrived 40 minutes late on his first day with us.
• His excuse was that his two-year-old kept him up and he overslept—a problem that could have been avoided with basic professionalism like setting an alarm.
2. No group connection
• He never introduced himself properly or encouraged group introductions, which made the group cold and disconnected from the start.
3. Poor tour engagement
• Focused almost entirely on history, while skipping practical travel information (local food, cultural tips, souvenir ideas, etc.).
• Skipped or rushed through places he personally didn’t like, limiting our experience.
4. Lack of solo traveler support
• Made zero effort to engage with me despite knowing I was traveling alone. While I appreciated a few small positives (smooth pickup on day one and the first hotel), they were far overshadowed by the poor service, unprofessionalism, and lack of support from “Look for Portugal.” This was especially damaging as a solo traveler.

I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future travelers have a far better experience.

My friends and I booked Exoticca’s Portugal & Spain escorted tour as a special birthday trip, expecting a guided cultural experience as advertised. What we received was a disorganized, unsupported experience — largely due to the failures of Exoticca’s local partner, Look4Portugal (L4P).

From the outset, no tour guide was ever assigned to our group. This was sold as an escorted tour, yet we were left solely with a driver — who was kind, professional, and did his best, but not trained or informed to act as a tour guide. There was no commentary, no structured itinerary, and no on-the-ground support. We were simply dropped off at sites with no context or explanation.

After we raised concerns, Look4Portugal misled Exoticca by claiming a guide had been provided — referring to our driver. This was a clear misrepresentation. A driver is not a substitute for a licensed guide. We later learned that L4P had intentionally chosen not to assign a guide due to our group being small — a decision that was never disclosed to us and completely undermined the product we paid for. Even worse, they fired the driver, who was not at fault and did his best under the circumstances. This felt incredibly unfair and deflective of real accountability.

We also tried to contact Look4Portugal multiple times using the WhatsApp and phone number provided in our welcome documents — no one ever responded. We had zero local support, no daily communication, and no way to confirm what was happening with the itinerary or excursions.

One of the biggest disappointments was being denied entry to the Alhambra in Granada — a major tour highlight — because tickets were never secured in advance. Instead, we were walked around the exterior gardens and missed the full experience completely.

Each day began with stress and confusion, as we had no idea what the schedule was or what to expect. Optional excursions were never offered, and we missed out on experiences we would have gladly booked had they been presented.

In summary:

Look4Portugal failed to deliver the guided experience promised.

They misled Exoticca during the follow-up investigation.

They offered no local communication or support.

And they fired the only person who showed up — our driver — who was not at fault.

If you're considering a tour with Exoticca, and Look4Portugal is listed as the local operator, please reconsider. This provider takes no accountability, misrepresents facts, and left us with a trip that did not match what we paid for or were promised.

I would not recommend booking with Look4Portugal or any tours operated through them. Our experience was deeply disappointing and completely unprofessional from start to finish.

There was no guide present for the entirety of our trip—a basic and essential component of any guided tour. Because of this, we missed all optional excursions, including highly anticipated visits to Sintra and Pena Palace, the Toledo tour, and dinner shows. The driver provided no information or itinerary details, making it impossible to plan anything independently, especially with last-minute schedule changes.

To make matters worse, all attempts to contact Look4Portugal during the trip were ignored, leaving us completely unsupported.

We gave the company a chance to make it right, but they refused to compensate us fairly.

This was a trip we had been looking forward to, and it fell drastically short. Save yourself the money, stress, and disappointment—look elsewhere for your travel plans.

We just returned from a 13-day tour of Portugal with Exoticca and Look4Portugal. It was Awesome! We chose the luxury level and it exceeded our expectations. Andre Seco our tour guide was the best. Thanks, Andre for all you do. I have to also mention Pedor from @vip_transfer, he was awesome as well.

Just finished the Portugal in nine days tour. It truly exceeded our expectations! Given the extremely affordable price, we were a little skeptical but the value for the cost was excellent. Everything was well organized and went as planned. Our tour guide, Andre Seco, was exceptional and he made the trip really special for our group. His extensive knowledge of the history of Portugal and his expert guidance at all of the monuments and locations gave me such a great appreciation for this beautiful country. We all enjoyed his great personality and sense of humor as well. Our bus driver, Sergio, was also wonderful and I felt very safe the whole time. The tour covers quite a few great locations, but did not feel overly rushed. We traveled in the “charm” category which featured clean and nice hotels, similar to the Holiday Inn express level. We usually travel a hotel category above this(4-5 star) but it did not bother us on this trip as all of the hotels met our needs. The tour company was very communicative with the members in the group during the trip. We had a great group of travelers in our group which also enhanced the experience. I highly recommend this tour and company and above all recommend Andre as a superb guide!
