Lower is a terrible business

In June of 2024 we applied for a heloc. Within a day my husband had all of the required paperwork email to our agent along with the appraisal for our home. A few days had passed with no word from our agent. When he did respond he told us he was in another country for a family matter and was having issues with our account and needed help on it. We received a call from another agent who also had issues with our account. After about 2 weeks of not hearing from anyone we received a call while on vacation saying that there was a new agent and our previous had been fired because he had multiple complaints from clients. After the initial phone call saying he was taking over, we did not hear a word. No responses to email, text or calls. We sent an email asking for our appraisal fee back and finally received a call. Our agent told us he was informed by his manager not to return our calls or contact us at all. He then said the company was doing “all they could” to expedite our case to get it completed as soon as possible. That was in the middle of august. We have been sent multiple papers to fill it and sign and we sent them back immediately. And then the waiting begins again. We were told about every other day that it was almost completed and we would have our heloc soon. The past week no calls, texts or emails have been returned to us. Again. We contacted customer service with little result. Finally, today October 16,2024, we heard back that we were denied because of credit reasons. Which our scores were well above average before this process started. We were also given excuses that our agent was having “phone issues” and was not able to make calls and when he was able to he just got voicemail. This company is a joke. They have ruined our credit. Lied to us over and over again. Will not refund our money that we paid to them for doing nothing.

It is not a typical experience for our customers. Unfortunately, the first loan advisor you were connected with did not set the correct expectations. Once your first loan advisor was separated from our company, your new loan advisor reviewed several options to see what could work.
Due to the current value, loan balance, and your updated credit score, there were no other loan options available.
After speaking with our Sales Manager Shane, we have issued a refund check for the appraisal.

Nick and his team at Lower rock!

Nick worked his tail off for us and found a program that made the most sense for us. He explained everything along the way and was always available for questions. I am a very detail oriented person and Nick gladly answered every single one of my “in the weeds” questions. Nick and his entire team were very responsive and seemed to always be available! I would highly recommend Nick and his team. We could not be happier!

Exceptional Experience Working with Nick

Working with Nick Caravana was a pleasure. He was responsive, friendly, professional, and always helpful. Documentation was a breeze and closing was 3 weeks early thanks to Nick. I highly recommend anyone seeking a refinance, HELOC, or purchase loan to speak with Nick to move you easily through an oftentimes stressful and confusing process.

Exceptional experience

I went through the refi process to leverage some equity and the entire process was much easier than I was expecting. All the way through funding, things went according to plan and the communication was prompt at each step. I would highly recommend Nick Caravana! He’s terrific, but he’s also supported by supported by a great company and team. This will be my go-to for any future mortgage and refi needs.

Kortney Keith was amazing to work with! He never made me feel like he was just trying to make the deal. I felt he had my best interest during the entire process. Communication was great and always on the ball. If you are looking for a home I highly recommend giving Kortney a call!

Total disaster

Total disaster! The most unprofessional experience I could have ever imagined, I was misled, misinformed, deceived and left feeling totally taken advantage of. Never received clarification to any of my concerns, I kept receiving disclosures every week showing different information very opposite to what we discussed, closing fees and appraisal fees provided were ridiculously high, after over two months thinking that my process was advancing and being taken care of, I ended up with a bunch of confusing information, an incredible amount of stress and anxiety. The closing fees and appraisals were ridiculously high, and they were unable to explain the reason, they just ignored my questions, just to finally find out after two months that my agent was no longer working with Lower, but nobody informed me about nor I was ever notified if someone else was taking over my account, I do not understand how this company is still in business. It seems like agents are getting paid per application submitted, so after that is done, there is no motivation to help customers complete the process. Really unbelievable that the Better Business Bureau has not intervened.
Next time i will just go to a reputable bank, at least I know i will receive honest, reliable information. This process was a total joke and I ended up so stressed out that it affected my health.

Amazing hard work and customer service.

Mike Carafella is one of the hardest working people I’ve met. He went above and beyond to make the process quick and easy. We closed in 12 days and the process was incredibly smooth. I can’t say enough good things about him.

Customer service & professionalism doesn't exists. They serviced my loan for ~2 years and both time tax forms were incorrect and I had to chase around. Once they transferred the loan, they stopped online access and discontinued the number/customer support.

Unfortunately, errors can occur during the 1098 process, and we work as quickly as we can to identify the errors and send corrected forms out for tax preparation. After your loan was transferred, we no longer continued to service loans in-house, therefore the online portal was discontinued. The servicing number was active for several months after the loan transfer, but we now handle all customer service inquiries via our Customer Care team, which has a different phone number, than the one that was printed on the tax form. Our goal is to provide each borrower with a great experience, and because of these issues, that was not the case for you. Please accept our sincere apology for not living up to our goal in this matter. We hope that we have the opportunity to serve you again, and if so, we will do our best to exceed your expectations.

Quick closing time

Mallory Miller did an amazing job! She was always available, regardless the time. She and her team made every step of the process quick and seamless. My house sold extremely fast and Mallory was able to close on our new loan ahead of time so both closings could be same day. I can't thank her and her team enough!
