We rented a car from mabi landvetter…

We rented a car from mabi landvetter goetheborg airport, everything ok, we got the car we returned the car, everything was fine. Return date 19/11/2025. 20/12/2025 got invoice that everything is great, got 9500 sek deposit refunded.24/11/2025 received new mail, but that they did not check/look well and the windshield is cracked. I accidentally ignored email because thought by previous mails that everything were in order. Today 20/1/2026,received invoice for the cracked windshield.
Why did they sent email for crack 5 days after? In my country they say that when you go away from register and transaction is over no mistake is recognised and also I always record a video before and after I rent a car. When I recorded the video windshield was untouched. Scam or no scam. I thought that Sweden was a trusted country and that their companies are legit. But I was wrong.

Warning! MABI is a scam.

We rented a car from MABI Landvetter Airport. Unfortunately MABI turned out to be a fraud scheme. Their business model is basically to keep your deposit for no reason. Even though we returned the car on time, in perfect condition (we made pictures) and with a full tank, MABI kept our deposit (9500 SEK) and refused to release it. Only after we disputed the charge with our credit card provider Worldline did Mabi give it back. Avoid at all costs.

ATTENTION

ATTENTION: Do not rent your car from Mabi West. I booked a car for a week and got a brand new Mercedes CLA Coupé, so I was very happy at first. But I had to pay a deposit of 9500 kr (about 860 euros), which is quite a lot in my opinion. I returned the car in perfect condition via the key drop service. Two days later I received a receipt marked “Crack/Spricka” and an invoice for 9500 kr. Since then they have been holding my deposit and not responding to any of my emails. This is a big SCAM. I have passed the case on to Consumer Protection and claimed the money back from my insurance. Avoid if you can!

I rented a Mercedes C-Class Estate via Ryanair (24–29 June 2025). I returned the car in perfect condition: full tank, no damage, no pets, no issues. A few days later, MABI charged me 1500 SEK (£115) without explanation.

This is theft and completely unacceptable. No invoice, no justification.

I will report this to Swedish consumer authorities and Ryanair. AVOID MABI if you don’t want to be scammed after your trip.

They will try to overcharged you for km

The car was in good condition when I rented and the rental agreement had 1,800Km included. However, when I returned the car they charged me for all kilometers I did with the car.

If for some reason you decide to rent the car with them, I recommend you take a picture with the fuel and Km they give you the car with.

A company with hidden costs

My car was in service at BMW Umeå. As per the insurance policy, the company provided a rental car through MABI. I had never used their service before, so I had no idea about the company. Soon, I realized that it’s the worst company in terms of privacy and customer service.
First, they did a credit check without my consent or any prior information. When I asked, they simply said it’s company policy. Even if I agree, they must inform the customer that they will go through this process, especially since I am not hiring directly with them; it’s my company, BMW Umeå, that hired them.
Then, I realized that they had deducted 300 SEK from my account. No SMS, no receipt, no call, and no email. Literally, you have no idea that money has been taken from your account without your knowledge—a full scam. Generally, people don’t check their accounts regularly, so they never realize that money has been taken without their consent. When I asked, they said it’s a service charge of 150 SEK to drop and pick up the car from the service center. My simple question is, why didn’t you inform me? There are many ways to go and pick up the car, so why pay for that?
In short, be super careful when dealing with this company. They are not reliable and can cost you more as they have many hidden charges. Also, once they provided a 10-year-old car with no heating option. Can you imagine a car rental company operating in the north of Sweden in extreme cold weather with no heating option? When I called them and asked how to heat the car as I had to drop my son at school early in the morning, they simply replied, "Start the car and sit inside until it gets warm." Unbelievable.
My recommendation is never to deal with this company. If you somehow get trapped (like me through the BMW service center), be super cautious.

Helpful and good service

We came up through Sweden by train and needed to rent a car from
Karlstad (MABI Sparrgatan office) to go to a funeral. All went smoothly and easily for the pickup and return and we were happy about the car and our experience. However, in all the emotion we didn’t realise that we had left behind a phone in the car and we were so fortunate as the kind and thoughtful Mabi staff drove with it and found us at Karlstad train station! In this difficult time this act of kindness was very precious and appreciated🙏❤️ Highly recommended for customer service!

Umea Airport .Very easy

Umea Airport .Very easy ; prearranged pick up on a Sunday . Drop off in key box very easy. Car was an Audi A1 which was a pleasant surprise. Extremely good value at an Airport location and much less than the normal established car rental companies for the same rental period. Will be using again.Tack Tack

Do not touch this hire company don't…

Do not touch this hire company don't want to give any stars as they dont deserve it. The customer service is so bad and if they wish to continue to hire cars should really take feedback from customers seriously and reply to emails. We have been charged £600 for a cracked bumber we know we did not damage. Very quick to take the money from our credit card but no answer on emails for information. It took us weeks to get the company to engage with us but as usual with these thing we are hitting a brick wall. So please if you read this or anyone of the other reviews DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY

Wish i could give minus stars.
Rented a car at Landvetter Airport, Gothenburg and when brought back they claimed a scratch had occurred in the bumper and they needed to replace that for 5000 Swedish Kronor (~ 890 Aud). I asked to see a photo - they sent me a photo with a black mark on it (not a scratch). i replied to say that was dirt and i managed to take some of it off, but by no means did i wash the car. They agreed to have another look at it the day after. Well the money was taken out of the account the same day we left it and no whatsoever communication back from MABI the day after and updates. I had to call them and query when their reply was that the car had been rented out again, and it was definately a scratch but they had no evidence for this, eg. a photo, merely a claim. I told them i need something for our insurance but they just sent an invoice no evidence what so ever.
I have rented cars for work and holidays for the past 30+ years and to be honest i have never experienced this bad service, ever!
So whatever you do, please go to another rental company which i will do from hereon.

There are con artists

There are con artists, they refused a valid id and claimed they can only take passport. They breached the terms of the contract that say id or passport accepted in order to pocket the money.

Mabi Bromma Airport, good experience

Mabi Bromma Airport, great service, good responsive contact and trustworthy relationship supplier - client. Arranged to pick up car after office closing hours, no problem. I'll rent here next time as well for sure. Rental 2/11/20-6/11/20.

Con artists

Will take most of your deposit even if you leave car with 100kr less fuel of a full tank. They took 500 kr off the deposit for 100kr of fuel. Standard swedish over charging. I'd completely understand around 200 kr being taken off, but not 500 kr.
Do not use this company to hire a car. You will be conned

Excellent service - after I mixed up arrival time

I booked via the Arlanda location 9-7-2017. I mixed up the arrival date on my booking, since we arrived after midnight :-(

But they found me a different and nicer car. No hard feelings and quick shuttle to and from the airport.

We will book with them again.
