Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 41 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many individuals stated that they struggled to receive practical assistance, proper home help, or meaningful guidance when facing serious health challenges. Customers frequently noted that support lines felt dismissive, while scheduled visits or appointments experienced significant delays and a lack of empathy. Some reviewers were happy with the dedicated assistance provided by specific team members during their treatment journey. These consumers expressed gratitude for the comforting phone calls, kind attitudes, and specialist nursing care that made difficult moments more manageable. Clients also mentioned receiving helpful guidance with paperwork and feeling genuinely supported by empathetic professionals who listened carefully.

Shocking organisation

My Brother has been told he does not have long as the treatment has not worked. Firstly Adensbrook hospital has not been helpful. But he was told to seek help from this support organisation.
What a complete let down and heartbreaking to see how they have treated him or shall I say not.
They promise to call him and they don’t. To think myself and others have put money in to these organisations to help others and now my brother and to receive nothing back is uncaring and disgusting. I have stopped all money going forward.

Very disappointed.

Just reading through reviews and guess you are now inundated with people who gave 1 or 2 stars and bad reviews being told to get in touch! Now reading about new job advertisement for big money I have decided like others to withdraw my weekly, albeit, small payment. On a personal note, I do know someone who had little if any support in his last weeks.

so disappointed -revising my Will

I have had various cancers over 4 decades and had excellent support from Charing Cross' Macmillan nurses in that time, until recently. Now the diagnosis is terminal. my Mac's nurse has disappeared from consultations. Thought it odd, but now I'm horrified to read the repeat one star reviews here. Was going to use their Will writing service, and leave them a decent bequest. Will be doing neither now. Macmillans, you need to do a lot better than occasional responses here. The criticisms are too many and too consistent.

My Dad was diagnosed with terminal…

My Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Macmillan told him they would sort benefits and grants, we are still waiting and Dads got a couple of days left at best he's dying penniless and I'm thousands of pounds in debt from supporting him. All the publicity and coffee morning crap but they don't care and they don't do anything to help or support. Chat GPT has been far superior emotional support than the ridiculous support chat available from them online and the phone number is useless for actual practical support they can only talk about how you are feeling. All the good you hear or radio and TV is nonsense this company pays its CEO a fortune and does not support those who need it most in anyway.

Did sod all for my Dad

What is the point in this charity? Lots of positive publicity on TV seemingly all the time, but just look at all the reviews here from real people. They did absolutely nothing for my Dad who died from lung and liver cancer. All the while throwing lavish balls and parties for those on the charity gravy train.

Free Will writing

Contacted MacMillan re free will writing. After hearing about the hard sell that follows this service I decided not to proceed. However having trusted them with my information and requirements I have now been getting emails from companies I have never heard of. One told me they got my info from McMillan Will writing. I never gave any permission for my personal details to be handed out and I am outraged at this intrusion. So beware there is nothing free but does leave you open to exposure and badgering from companies.

Dreadful

Dreadful. No response from man who I could hardly understand, I talked he just said it was up to me. Very helpful. Also DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS A CONFIDENTIAL LINE IT IS NOT! They have a "safeguarding team" and red flags and that team can decide what to do with the information they are given. Supposed to help? They've made matters much harder for me. DO NOT TRUST THEM

If you can’t provide a service

If you can’t provide a service, why start one. Nurse is assigned to dying patient and offers to help with forms and things for money from the government.. takes the forms and disappears.. doesn’t answer phone calls, emails.. nothing. Just made my mother feel like her life meant nothing at a time she least needed it. We would have done so much better if we’d been left alone

Absolutely dreadful experience

Absolutely dreadful experience. My mother has cancer 4 degree on her face,3 huge tumours. Was told we could ring anytime for help. It's been an absolute shitshow. They said to her when she was with the surgeons that she would not suffer any pain. What absolute rubbish, tried to ring them, very hard to get a call back. Explained that mother could no longer eat as tumours has closed her mouth. They said 8 days ago that they would get some liquid meal supplements supplied to my mother by contacting her doctors surgery. Nothing happened, my mothers 8 hour surgery is tomorrow 🤞. THEY have been no help what so ever. When I spoke with the macmillan nurse there was no compassion, empathy or care.
Useless, god help you if you are on your own with no relatives. They promised mum she would never have to suffer any pain, lies!

Evil company preying on the most vulnerable

I tried to use Macmillans services when my wife got cancer. It was a stressful time, and I wanted to find out as much information as I could, and access support if possible.

I was turned away and talked down to at every contact. From what i can tell, Macmillan is just a scam, and offers nothing but preys on peoples fear or conscience to steal money.

If theres any justice, this evil company will be shut down

I cannot praise the Macmillan…

I cannot praise the Macmillan palliative care unit at the Northern general hospital highly enough, my brother was admitted primarily for pain control treatment, with a view to his return home. Within 2 weeks his prognosis deteriorated hugely, from coming home being thought possible, to days to live, the Dr's nurses and support staff their want above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble, when my brothers wife asked if it was possible to stay with him they supplied a bed in his room and looked after her brilliantly, as I say, nothing was too much trouble, we visited at will, and all I can commentbon is how my brothers last days were comfortable and cared for by the amazing staff, I thank them from the very bottom of my heart.

Too difficult to use.

Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to use the site. I have questions because my husband has prostate cancer but instead of actually having a way to ask questions as i expected ,all i got was sent to useless forums which didn't answer my questions at all and i don't have a clue how to post anything there because there are no directions.

My family and I are facing the absolute horrific reality of being told my amazing sister has giloblastoma stage 4. In the 5 months we have been dealing with this we have seen a macmillan nurse once. My dad rang the number we were given 4 weeks ago as just wanted a general chat we were told we would get a call back...nothing. its a harrowing experience and it seems your left alone x terrible

I wouldn't even give them one star

I wouldn't even give them one star, shocking they call themselves cancer support, made my friend feel terrible after diagnosis. Nurses are never available....should be ashamed of themselves for making money out of cancer. Whenever I see a McMillan nurse around just look like they catching up on gossip. Maybe assisting in keeping the sick sicker so that the pharmaceutical companies make even more money

In my experience after having cancer…

In my experience after having cancer firstly 10 years ago my first nurse was there at most meetings and appointments but rarely said anything ,on the cancer returning now i can honestly say its been a totally pointless waste of time having one , ivv found that whenever i have asked a question ive been told to refer to my palative team for answers , the only time she actually did anything for me was a prescription for laxatives (suppository) which was the wrong dose ,ive never once got through to her on phone ,and only get a call back ater several attempts to ask advice which in most cases with the answer ive given above

Poor long term results

I'm often invited to mcmillan coffee mornings and fundraising efforts. I always reply with a polite refusal, saying that I will never give a penny to this "charity". I prefer to give to charities that donate every penny given to the people in need of it. My awful experience with a macmilan nurse was in 2013 and I see from that recent reviews that nothing has improved. I direct people to this page and they are surprised to hear about such a large percentage of poor reviews. You raise enough money so why have your services not improved in the last 11 years.
